Quite a nice place to dine at. The décor was very warm and welcoming. The restaurant had took the time to decorate using Chinese New Year-themed decorations. We were welcomed by what seems to be the manager warmly. I did, however, notice that the menu was a bit damaged. The pages looked a bit damaged and there were brown spots all over the pages. The food arrived quite fast so that was quite nice. I do have to say, the mushroom soup i ordered had small chunks in it. My family and a few of our friends enjoyed our food thoroughly. Although the grilled tenderloin i ordered was a bit tough. I was quite shocked to see only a handful of tables dining, perhaps it was due to the pricy menu. However, i suppose the portion size makes up for the pricetag. The restaurant even gave my friend a small complimentary cake when they found out it was her birthday. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience. I’m afraid i won’t be able to provide any pictures as we ate it all before we could take a picture.

I really do like Coliseum. There’s no denying the history the restaurant has lived through and the stories behind the walls. But unfortunately, there’s also no denying that the standard of food has dropped over the years. If you remember eating sizzling steaks when you were young, the steaks don’t match up anymore. The same goes with the chicken shop, which used to be my favourite thing here. Also, I find the prices to be a bit too high. I know it’s a slice of history in KL, but I don’t find the need to charge those kind of prices for food that don’t require high-level cooking. The service is shoddy too, I remember the servers getting confused about my order that last I went there, and they didn’t bother apologising for it.

No doubt that this place right here would cost you a bomb. I had a salad and a drink and my meal came to nearly RM30. However, The Coliseum just happens to be one of those restaurants that make you want to eat there, as their scenic interiors are really captivating. From their antique-inspired décor to several newspaper articles and cutouts from the 1920s, I really had to just observe every inch of this beautiful place. It was an overall pleasant experience. Just be prepared to forge out your cash when you come here as the steak my friend ordered came to a halting RM69.90! But still, it would be fun to travel way back in time into the 20s

The Coliseum is one of those restaurants that somehow manage to capture your attention from the outside. It’s cowboy styled writing stands out on the glass windows and on the inside, it’s antique décor is definitely an unusual sight these days. I had the the chicken Cordon bleu, which tasted exquisite. After polishing off my meal, me and a friend took a walk into their bar where they had framed several newspaper articles and cutouts regarding the restaurant dating back to the 1920s. Overall it was a pleasant experience to an era where times were simpler and less complicated. However when compared to other restaurants, the Coliseum is a little pricey. Their steaks alone can reach to about RM69.90. Nevertheless, it is definitely a go to place if you’re looking for a break from the 21st century.

Coliseum has been in business since 1921, and nothing much changes in the restaurant. The design and layout are still very similar to those days, and the rooms upstairs are still one of the favourite among the backpackers. My parents used to bring us there a lot, and I remember they used to serve delicious dishes. So, I went back there with Joe some time ago. Stepping into Coliseum is like going back in time to the British Colonial era. We had their Oxtail Soup. It was packed with flavours, and the oxtail was tender. The soup was really thick and rich in flavours. As usual, I had their Hainanese Chicken Chop. The chicken meat was juicy and crispy on the outside, and topped with their homemade sauce along with some onions, peas and mushrooms. You definitely be having parking problem in the KL city centre. So, it would be more convenient for you to take a LRT or park your car in Sogo and talk a walk. However, it’s going to be a bit of distance. Coliseum has expanded their business and had a branch in Jaya33. The place look pretty nice but I’ve yet to try the food there.

Whilst hanging out with my sister and her friend Bill, Bill suddenly had a yearning for onion soup and recalled fond memories of the onion soup he once had at the Coliseum. Not long after, we found ourselves driving into the heart of KL to appease Bill’s insatiable cravings. Established in 1921 as its name suggest, the Coliseum has seen its fair share of alterations to its surrounding neighbors, yet still remains a fixture here in KL. I won’t bore you with the décor and history of the place, go to their facebook page. Extensive description. Back to the food. Well in the end, it just wasn’t as good as it once was, or maybe memory had deceived us. Either way, the food just wasn’t that great, the steak was dry, drinks took forever and execution was just half-assed with seemingly cost cutting measures.
