If you are a fan of hor fun, or big slices of rice flour noodles, you will definitely love this dish we call, Mee Hoon Kuih. Basically it’s very thick and huge flour noodles, cooked in your choice of soup — we recommend you get the signature clear soup. It has a very floury taste to the flat noodles so it’s best if you spoon it up with the soup and gulp them down together. Note that you will need to wait for about half an hour before getting your noodles and they hand make and press the noodles right there and then on the spot. If you are not a fan of this thick and flat floury noodle, you can also opt for other noodles such as yee mee, mee sua, egg noodles and instant noodles. Get them dry or with the soup of your choice. Oh and another thing, try ordering from the pretty helper at the stall instead of talking to the ones preparing the noodles or the chef. They will not answer you — therefore we are not sure if they will pay any attention to our orders or not. As for drinks, you must get their homemade chrysanthemum tea. It is not too sweet and you can totally taste the natural sugars and only that. There is no need to add sugar so my advice is, don’t. The other drink I tried was the ‘cincau’ or also known as grass jelly with soya bean milk. As usual, got for the one with less or no sugar added.

Fatty Mee Hoon Kuih House is a family operated restaurant who has been in town since year 1980. This restaurant is well famous for their mee hoon Kuih(in other places, people call them pan mee). Besides mee hoon kuih, they also serve a variety of noodles such as egg noodles, instant noodles, mee sua, yee mee and so on. All their noodles are served in the same soup base as the mee hoon kuih. Eventhough they serve a variety of noodles, most people are here just for their mee hoon kuih. In order to have it, you must have the patience. Every visit will take at least 45 minutes to an hour of waiting before you can enjoy their mee hoon kuih. During my many visits there, I’ve seen many people who got fed up of waiting and walk off before their food are served. They are definitely not locals because a local like me knows that we are bound to wait if we wish to have our meal here. Take away is not an exception unless you opt for uncooked takeaway where they pack the ingredients of the mee hoon kuih(the soup and mee hoon kuih dough) for you to cook at home yourself. I wouldn’t recommend this place to impatient people who are not willing to wait for their food. Personally I have no problem waiting plus, mee hoon kuih have always been my favorite food. I am one of their loyal customers. Even my baby nephew waits patiently for their mee hoon kuih and whenever you ask him what he wants to eat, he will answer you«Mee Hoon Kuih».

Searching for homemade food that’s fresh and delicious? Well, you’re in luck, because Fatty Mee Hoon Kuih fits your requirements. The noodles are made by a couple of workers who do it on the spot, where you can see and the price is cheap as it’s like normal food court type of food, but it’s better than most to me. However, you might need to wait a while before your food arrives because preparation takes some time.
