Italian food is great but pizza and pasta can get boring, but places like Kebabbaro is a great example that you can get other kind of delicious food in Rome! Located near the Vatican Museums, Kebabbaro is an authentic Mediterranean take-out restaurant that is owned by few friendly dudes, and it got some delicious kebab at cheap price. Originally, I just wanted a snack but the portion was bigger than I thought and I was full! A kebab roll with fries and a can of drink is less than € 10 too. The option also includes a falafel wrap or platter if you are somehow not into kebab. Anyway, it’s primarily a take-out but there are few booth seats and you get your food extremely quickly. If you are tired of pizza and pasta, give this place a try! *Disclaimer: Okay I actually wasn’t tired of Italian food. I was waiting for the metro strike to end, but I’m glad there was a strike because I wouldn’t find this delicious kebab place without it!

Our family of four was hankering for middle eastern/Indian food after days of pizza and pasta. Thanks to Unilocal,I found this place just a block and a half away from our apartment near the Vatican. Food is very flavorful and well prepared — biryani is not spicy but has lots of flavor, loved the roast chicken with flakes of red pepper, charred skin and extremely moist, fall-from-the-bone meat. There are other things — chicken and beef curry, tandoori chicken, veg pulao, fried chicken, lamb kebab — that looked to be equally good. Prices are extremely reasonable and the staff polite and helpful. There is a small seating area to the right but we brought our meal back to the apt and scarfed it down with a bottle of vino rosso. My only complaint — the place has no sign on top. Unilocal says it is «Specialita Pizza Il Kebabbaro». Well, I had to walk back and forth 3 times, look at food pictures and the menu to decide that this was it. Guys, put up a sign. Your food is good and satisfying in this sea of touristy pizza and pasta.

Last night in Rome, and yes, we went to a Turkish Kebab house for fast food – and it was tasty! Three days/nights of pasta, seafood, meat and pizza, and we wanted a change of pace, but a home-based burger chain was out of the question. This place is located near the NE corner of the Vatican, and is very clean. Also, service was friendly and quick. Best off, the bread was warm, the ingredients fresh, and they didn’t skimp on the meat. Yummy! Cheers! RS
