They do charge for bread but it’s common in Italy to do this and considered a service charge. Food is still mediocre though. Service was mediocre too, although the owner is very charming. You could probably stumble upon a better spot than this one.

We arrived in Rome late afternoon on December 31st and were given a rather vague suggestion for dinner. While that is another story, suffice to say we were on our own trying to find a place that wasn’t completely booked or with a full menu. We finally came across Osteria Pucci. They had a New Years Eve menu for € 70. While it sounded great, we wanted something a bit lighter and less expensive. They let us order off the menu for a € 10 surcharge(per person). While I couldn’t begrudge them at the time, I will be honest and say it has rubbed me the wrong way since. Our dinners were good, but my ossobuco and rice were cold, yet the waiter didn’t care. He said he would return immediately but only did to present the bill. The service up to that point was pretty good; our pasta was cooked perfectly, and the cheese plate was wonderful and I’ve included pictures of these. I may be giving them three stars out of a € 30 spite, especially when we had been turned away from a few other places, so you may wish to take this posting with a grain of salt, but this may be one place you should watch your bill a bit closer, as they do seem to be open to taking advantage of foreigners.

I don’t like to be tricked at restaurants. This is the main reason for such a low rating. Tried the pasta carbonara, very good(9,5 €). Tried the spaghetti with prawns(12,5 €). Both dishes were good, the prawns were very flavorful. Pasta is done al dente, Italian style, so a bit harder than in the US. Service was responsive and prompt. The part that upset me was that they brought out bread. It’s quite disgusting bread and they charge you € 3 for bread you don’t even order, and they don’t even ask if you want. On top of it it’s one of the worst breads I have tried. When i asked the waitress about it she said it was for«table service» when it said bread in Italian. Do away with this sleazy move and this place can easily be a 4 star restaurant.

We ended up here looking for a pizza place recommend by a friend(it was closed), but I am so happy we ran across this place. The ambience was lovely and the food was great! Octopus and berries was great(said my husband). Both the rigatoni with ricotta cheese and sausage, and the steak and fondue(cheese) were AMAZING! Highly recommend if you are looking for great Italian food in Rome!

Seems like a fancy place, but they charge 5 € for dense, boring bread(that doesn’t come with butter or oil) whether you ask for it or not. The food was pretty good. I really liked my lasagna. The zucchine ripiene(stuffed zucchini with meatballs) was like by my wife, but I didn’t really like it. The spezzatino con patate(beef stew) was good. We also ordered the verdure griglia(grilled vegetables) which was good but by the end it felt like too much olive oil. There’s no smoking, but somehow it often smelled like smoke even though t there’s no smoking in the restaurant. Overall the food was good, but everything else was bad. Total cost € 50

A place we return to every time we’re in Rome. Last night we had a dinner party of 15 celebrating a 50th Wedding Anniversary. I can’t say enough about how good the food and service were. We organized a fixed menu chosen by the owner. A memorial celebration. Highly recommended.

ATTENTO, PROPIETARIOTRUFFATORE, BEWARE! I am very sad to write this review. The owner is a crook. The place charged us for items that we did not order, charged different prices for the same wine and higher prices than those printed on the menu… and when we asked them about it, they returned with a bill higher than the one in question. The table next to us, also travelers, had a similar experience. After asking the owner about the confusion, he was very insulting. We begrudgingly paid and the owner remained hostile. The entire situation was very negative and disappointing. Worst experience of our trip. If you’re looking for a great spot to eat in Trastevere, go to Gino’s.

THEBESTRESTAURANTINALLOFROME — but seriously. I lived in Rome for 4 months and absolutely loved this place. The prices are sensible, the food cannot be beat and the owners and staff go above and beyond. I fell in love with this place and whenever friends and family came to visit this was our first stop. Anything you order is going to be amazing. And it helps that they offer an english menu. I recommend the Carbonara, the rigatoni with tomato sauce and sausage, the pasta with shrimp and each of the soups was delicious. To be honest, I never had a bad meal here and everyone I went with always had wonderful things to say as well. I really cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. Great ambience for a date night or fun place to go with a group. Definitely a must on any trip to Rome.

Hier also Super-Essen im Plexiglas-Stil.
