La Viletta is a typical small Trastevre trattoria. The menu carries all the things you’d expect — carbonara, arribiatta, Trippa all a romana, etc. We ordered an antipasto of buffalo mozz + proscuitto — good, not great. I’d have like a bit of olive oil/pepper garnish here. For primi’s, we ordered cacio e pepe, carbonara and a fettucine ai salmone. I don’t know what one of our group was thinking on that last one… really? Pasta with salmon sauce? There’s no way… and it wasn’t great. I don’t know if even Iron Chef Morimoto could pull that one off. The cacio e pepe + carbonara were both good, and they should be as both are simple dishes. Still, the pasta was cooked nicely and both dishes were tasty. In particular, the carbonara sauce was well done — not slimy, but not scrambled eggs either. Service was pleasant — it looks like a family run place and there were plenty of non tourists in here. For an antipasto, 3 pastas, a liter of water and 2 liters of house wine(don’t judge us) was € 63 which included service. Bottom line — it wasn’t a tourist trap and almost everyone was good. They didn’t do much to set themselves apart from other places in the area but it was enough for us.

Unaspiring but decent quality Italian restaurant in a quiet and colourful part of Rome. Lots of locals, which is always a good sign. Friendly atmosphere and when the weather is fine, you can sit on the street. Good housewine & excellent quality/price ratio.
