Holy cow! Soooooo good! Not sure if it’s because I was so incredibly sore from walking a million miles, or if the therapist was THAT good(probably a combination of both)…but the traditional Thai massage I had was absolutely delightful. Really well done and the stretching was so needed. The best Thai massage I’ve ever gotten. Hope to go back a second time before our trip is over!

After reading positive Unilocal comments my GF and I decided to get a massage here after a visit to the Vatican museum. We both agreed that it was the worst massage we’ve ever had. I have been to many Thai massages. The masseuse(Caucasian man at a thai massage…) barely knew any stretching techniques that is often characteristic of thai massages. Don’t bother wasting your time and money.

Thank you, Unilocal!!!After two weeks walking all over Italy, my husband and I were in desperate need of some TLC for our bodies and feet. I was encouraged by the 5-star reviews of Baan Thai, and am happy to add my own! They were amazing!!! My husband and I each did the traditional Thai massage, and both of us left feeling like we’d just received one of the best massages we’d ever had. In Thai massage, the therapists use all parts of their bodies(hands, feet, elbows, etc) to work out the kinks in your body, while incorporating lots of stretching. Our therapists were amazing and I am completely sold on the benefits of Thai massage now — even researching Unilocal reviews of Thai masseuses here in my home town. The massage was very reasonably priced(50 euro each) for the quality, and my only regret is that I couldn’t visit again before we left Rome. Thanks to those who pointed me in the direction of this wonderful massage parlor!

My best Unilocal find EVER! My husband and I have been telling everyone about this place since we returned from our honeymoon in Rome this summer. It is a little piece of exotic paradise right in the middle of Rome. Located down a quiet alley just steps from the Vatican City walls, this is the ultimate cure for worn-out tourists. We were in Rome for four days, and spent each day walking all over the city to see the sights. Both of us wore shoes that were more sexy than practical, so by the end of each day our feet were totally destroyed. I searched on Unilocal for a massage place and found Baan Thai, so on our first night in Rome we booked a visit. The therapy rooms are simple yet exotic, with soft lighting, bamboo hangings. and mats on the floor. We sat in a relaxing waiting room with soft music and various teas, and then we followed the therapist down a narrow staircase into the basement. My husband and I each laid on a mat and two Thai massage therapists performed magic on our aching muscles. The therapists spoke only a few words of English, but they did speak Italian. I ended up translating for my husband, he would say what he wanted in English and I would explain it to the lady in Italian. His feet and calves were shot, so his therapist spent the full hour working on them. I had a full body massage, and it was incredible. I loved how they used the Thai herbal poultices on my sore shoulders… the heat really melted away all of the pain and the scent was incredible. Thai massage involves a lot of assisted stretching, it is kind of like doing yoga while being massaged. They would stand on my back and pull my arms up to perform deep stretches, and they did a lot of similar work to stretch out my legs. It was fun making conversation with the therapists, especially when they told us stories about their other clients. It turns out they massage the Swiss Guards who protect the Pope, and they said their muscles are very hard from standing all day! By the end of the session, we were both completely healed, with all of the pain gone. We were amazed, and promptly booked sessions for the next two nights in Rome. Baan Thai was our secret weapon for re-setting our aching bodies after days of walking on cobblestones. We will absolutely return on our next trip to Rome, and recommend it to anyone planning a visit. Since returning to the US, we have tried several Thai massage places and have not found anything that comes close to Baan Thai. Guess we just have to go back to Rome to experience the best Thai massage again!

Split review — blond woman rubbed my wife — it sucked — left bruises on her arms by using her elbows(really…) 2 star. Never got deep enough — really poor technique Asian man did Thai massage on me — really good but only had 60 min available so was just getting started 4 star. Rooms downstairs, nicely decorated(small though) YMMV…

Baan Thai was the perfect cure for what was ailing me after miles of walking on Roman cobblestones. Very close to the Vatican, the prices are good and the massage therapists highly professional and courteous. As Rome is a city to be experienced on foot, I know I will be going back before my stay is over.
