We had a wonderful experience at Magens Point. The staff from the front desk to the bar and restaurant were very nice and helpful. They went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The food was very good with reasonable prices. We had fun in the outdoor bar and beautiful pool with a killer view. We booked sailing(Tribal Day Sails) and kayak(St. Thomas Adventure Tours) adventures through the resort that could not have been better.

Ok, I should mention that we are cat people. My daughter was absolutely delighted at the friendly, sleek-furred, well-socialized cats that came to the call of «kitty kitty kitty». One even«cat“apulted himself across a couple of low brick walls to run to us(apparently expecting food and petting, which we happily gave him!) Why am I focusing on this? Because this single feature made my child happy, and everyone knows that a happy child makes for a happy vacation!(Shame on the person who called these cats«creepy»!) The hotel rooms were beautiful! What a view to wake up to! Nicely appointed. The a/c was so quiet that I almost didn’t even hear it, and it worked like a charm. Rooms were very clean. Staff was friendly and helpful(thanks for the late checkout!). Pools looked clean and beautifully inviting, but we didn’t have a chance to try them. 15 min walk downhill to incomparable Magen’s bay.(GORGEOUS!!) but husband complained that it wasn’t very safe without sidewalks and crazy cab drivers rounding the curves too fast. I’d probably cab it, even downhill, and we DID cab it uphill! But the absolute BEST part of our stay was«Simply Italian» the on site restaurant. OMG one of the best restaurants I have EVER eaten at!(And I have eaten at some of the best restaurants in Chicago!) Café was adequate with yummy bagels for the morning! Overall, just an amazing stay. Thanks!!!

Had a wonderful experience! I’ve learned in my travels to not compare any place to the other and have no expectations but to have a good time. Magens Point Resort impressed me and didn’t let me down. I read a few reviews before arriving, and thought the naysayers were nuts. The sum of everything this Resort offers makes it a wonderful place to enjoy St. Thomas, especially for a first-timer. The Resort is located at the top of a windy mountain. I was scared for my life getting here, they are one lane roads with no street signs… but I survived. The exterior colors reminded me of Miami Vice for some reason. Traditional Island motif. I was feeling very Islandy already. The staff and front desk were the most helpful kind people we encountered on the whole island. I’m not lying. All of our party hadn’t arrived and they let us check into the room early. Then someone made a vat of rum punch and said«have as much as you like», and that we did. I had four glasses and one for the road in the ten minutes it took to get the room keys. Viola is such a nice lady, she made sure we were well taken care of at all times. She called us her California Divas! There was another nice lady who had the cutest nails and hair… even when we had a problem with the plumbing they fixed it quickly. Great staff, is very important. A+ We had a two bedroom unit. Beware the floor is all tile, and slippery when wet. The room was very spacious and had the best view of greenery and Magens Bay. I just stood on the patio in amazement that I was somewhere so beautiful. The Loft upstairs was nice, but that staircase was impossible after a few too many drinks… Which is where the sofa came in handy. Room A The pool and spa was wonderful. My only con is the bottom of the pool was rough, and it took weeks to heal the bottom of my feet, lol. But oh well. From the pool I could shout out my drink order to the bartender and catch the waiter from Acacia in between runs and ask for a Dorito Chicken Sandwich. Seriously, how awesome is that. The grotto like spa is very romantic, but unless u have a mate go back to the pool and drink as you swim… don’t try that at home kids. The Restaurant had great food and even a sushi happy hour. The Dorito Chicken sandwich was so good… OMG my mouth is watering. A+++++ Overall I had the best time of my life and am thankful I experienced it here at Magens.

First of all, I can’t really be too harsh here because I booked this trip about a week before I went there through the Armed Forces Vacation Club for about $ 380 for 7 nights. I needed to get away and this was the cheapest last minute great location I could find so I went for it. The property is in an incredible location. While you aren’t on Magens Beach because they don’t have any hotels on it, you are on the hill overlooking it and it is about a 15 minute walk down there(a little longer on the way back with the huge hill) or a 3 – 5 minute drive. I drove to the beach and it cost me $ 6 for myself and parking. The beach is an incredible mile long all sand beach with amazing water and an amazing view. There is a little shop where you can rent stuff beach chairs and floaty mats, a little snack shack, a beach bar, and places to BBQ(which costs money) at the beach. The pool area at the resort is great. The pool is decently large, is rarely crowded, and has a cool little waterfall. The hot tub is also very nice. There are plenty of chairs and tables to lay in and sit at around the pool as well. The Rumbuzz Bar that is poolside is great. They have a decent menu of food. I’m a huge nacho fiend and found them very delicious. The bar has a lot of regulars that you get to know during your time there. Bartenders Stevo and Clay were fantastic and did a great job taking care of and getting to know their customers. They also make a very strong drink which happened to bite me in the ass a few times. Below the Rumbuzz there is some sort of casino games room which I never really went in so I can’t give it an accurate review. There is also a spa at the resort which I never tried out and a tennis court. There is a little convenience store/sandwich and coffee shop on the property called The Cup and Cork. They sell basic stuff you might need and it’s kind of expensive but so is everything else on this island. They make great sandwiches and coffee though. It is open until 6:00 p.m. on weekdays and 2:00 p.m. on weekends. The rooms are by far the worst part of this resort. I stayed in the studio rooms(room 104) which don’t have a view of the water but there are 1 bedroom rooms with a view overlooking Magens Bay. Those rooms seemed decently nice. They are set up kind of cool to offer a big area and nice view. The studio room that I stayed in never had hot water running the entire time I was there and the air conditioner didn’t work which made for some very sweaty nights of me kicking off all of the sheets even though there is a ceiling fan. There is a little mini kitchen with a stove, microwave, toaster, mini fridge, and dishes. Don’t drink the water from the sink, it tastes awful. The floor area around the mini kitchen was very dirty and attracted ants as well. The main bed wasn’t that comfortable and there is a little couch that has a hide-a-bed. There is a crappy little TV and DVD player if you want to stay inside while you’re in paradise for some reason. The little balcony with a table on it was nice for relaxing in the shade if you get a little sun tired. The power goes out often in the Virgin Islands and this resort does not have a generator at the moment but Viola said it has been ordered. The property has a lot of creepy cats which they feed so they are constantly around and kind of smell which is a little off-putting but I got over it. There are also a lot of roosters around that you will hear every morning as well as huge iguanas which won’t bother you unless you’re wearing red apparently. The best part about the resort is the staff. When I checked in I was immediately handed a glass of rum punch from Tom, the Activities Coordinator. On Sunday morning Tom held a little meeting where he invited vendors in to offer you a bunch of fun activities to do during the week. I booked the Snorkel Adventure sailing trip through Tom and had a great time out on a beautiful sailboat on the Caribbean. Viola who works as the Guest Services representative at the resort is great. She makes sure to check up on you to make sure you have everything you need and you’re having a great time. Overall, I really did have a great trip but I wouldn’t say it was because of the room. It was because I was in paradise and the people here are great.

Note, this is a 2 star resort. I am giving it 4 stars because of the staff, location and amenities. It is called Magens Point Resort or Tropic Leisure Club. It is a time share, resort and hotel. This resort is located near the intersection of Route 35 and Route 42. It is on a hill overlooking lush tropical vegetation, Magens Bay and it’s surrounding hillsides. This is the quiet and secluded North side of the island. You will need a car to navigate around the island from this location. If you decide to rent a car be prepared to get lost, a lot. If you decide to take taxis everywhere budget for it. It is VERY expensive for such a small island. 8 — 12 dollars PERPERSONONEWAY to see some of the sights. That can add up fast. But parking can be bad in some places and having a taxi pick you up and drop you off can be worth it. You can also drink your fill and your only worry will be finding your taxi driver when you’re done. Anyways, back to the resort and it’s amenities. Front desk: Helpful, courteous, knowledgeable staff. They can call a taxi, direct you on a map(Thanks Wanda!), give you towels for the beach, teach you how to play dominoes(thanks Viola!) or help you plan an excursion(Thanks Tom!). They will try to help you out any way they can, you just need to ask. Wi-Fi is not free but you can pay for the usage. Pool/Spa: The pool and spa are fantastic. The pool is refreshingly cool on a hot day. The spa is like a warm bath secluded in a rocky grotto that overlooks the pool. The lounge chairs sink in when you get into them, are comfortable while you lay in them and then impossible to get out of when you need to. The deck is slippery when wet. It really really is. Iguanas live in the trees surrounding the pool/spa area. They’re pretty chill but don’t try to pet them, their tails are like whips. Also, watch out for their poop on the walkways. It gets cleaned up pretty fast by the staff but be on the lookout. Restaurant/Bar: They are situated next to the pool. Prices are expensive but so is everything on St. Thomas. The restaurant has a varied menu but I recommend the burger. The bar makes an awesome bushwacker. You can eat at the bar(lively) or restaurant(intimate). Happy hour is great at the bar. Service is a bit slow, but so is the rest of the island. They serve lunch and dinner. Staff is, once again, polite and friendly. There is also live music on some nights. Laundry: The washer is $ 3 which you pay for at the front desk and get tokens in return. The dryer is 50 cents in quarters(they’ll say a dollar in quarters but I got it to work with 50 cents). The laundry room is dingy and hot. Don’t hang out down there. Go to the pool or bar while you’re waiting. I had a problem with the washer and they gave me more tokens and sent a maintenance man to help me out. The machine worked for him but not me and I did the exact thing he did, hah. My laundry was cleaned and dried and all was fine. I brought my own soap but they may sell it on property. Ice Machine: Every room has an ice bucket. Ice Machine takes a card. Stick card in, put bucket down, push ice machine thingy. Easy peasy, no problemo. Take now full ice bucket and card back to room. Repeat as needed. Other amenities I did not use: Video gaming/gambling, On-site Convenience Store and Wine Bar. The wine bar looked cool. Video gaming isn’t my thing and I heard you have better odds in Vegas. Convenience store looked expensive. The Room: We had a one bedroom unit right off the pool. Patio had a gorgeous view of Magens Bay. They have been doing renovations but there were still little problems with the room. The back patio door was near impossible to open and close. It needs new rollers or just to be replaced all together. The shower handle to turn it on/off/adjust temperature would come off in your hand. It would go right back on and you could use it but kind of annoying. The closet door wouldn’t latch properly, my husband fixed it. The big electric burner didn’t work but they fixed it the 3rd day. The microwave clock had a mind of it’s own. No use in setting it to the right time. The queen size bed was super comfortable and we loved the pillows. The couches were 2 twin mattresses and could be pushed together(a one bedroom could sleep four). The sheets for this were in the coffee table. The air conditioner was almost silent and worked like a champ. The ceiling fans pushed the cold air to all the right places. The water could get really nice and hot. The dishes, utensils, pots, pans, coffee maker etc all were in pretty good shape. The TV worked but we didn’t watch it much. The bad: The water is run by electricity. No power=no water. The generator broke down while we were there. No power for a day and a night. Intermittent power for a few days. I loved my stay at Magens Point. They have some problems but with the great people working there they’ll fix them!
