Oh. My. Goodness. I’m not a massive donut eater, but have you had one of these? They’re pretty incredible. I like the old original sugar glaze… mmm. It’s probably the closest we can get to Krispy Kreams. They also have the usual jam donuts, chocolate donuts, boston creams, sprinkles etc. Tim Horton’s also have those giant boxes so you can get loads and bring them back to the office to cheer up a dull Friday afternoon.

Tim Horton decided to set up his own coffee chain because he was sick of getting crap coffee in his homeland of Canada. I’m tired of getting crap coffee in my homeland too. Good thing Horton’s is some of the best coffee on the go. It has a weird… almost sweet quality to the coffee which is a nice change of pace to burnt beans. Cheap too. It’s only € 2.00 for a large, which is a rarity for a good cuppa joe. Also, pretty savage muffins and donuts too!

Mmm… donuts. To me, they’re like a foreign treat. I always associate them with America — you always see them in cop movies and the Simpsons and when I was a kid a donut was a MEGA treat. Now, they’re everywhere. In bakeries, corner shops and this man Tim Horton has done a fine job of getting them into every Spar and Tesco he can find. As donuts go, they’re pretty good. Lots of varieties with various fillings/toppings, but my favourite is just a plain ring donut. You may say boring, but I say delicious.

I started noticing Tim Hortons kiosks opening up in Spars a couple years back. As you may or may not know, Tim Hortons is a famous Canadian hockey player who retired and went into the donut-making business. His gooey treats and syrupy coffee are delicious and many people are hooked on it. My personal favourites are the Boston Cream and Tim Bits(bite-sized donuts). The Tim Hortons in the Spar across from the Jervis Luas station continues with the tradition of serving up sugary snacks and caffeine. Although it’s not as popular as the ones in Canada, there’s still a donut market in Dublin. It gets busy in the mornings. The kisok sells all the sweets that the brand is famous for: coffee, tea, hot chocolate and of course a plethora of donuts. Try it and you’ll be addicted!
