My wife ordered the Pad Thai with Prawn and it came with 3 Prawns, I ordered a vegetarian Pad Thai and it came(I’m not joking) with half mushroom and 2 tofu cubes. Enough said I guess.

I stopped in here for an early dinner with my 9 month old baby. The staff was so friendly and brought treats to my son. They provided a great high chair, too. I got pangang curry with tofu and veggies and it was delicious! I loved the cozy atmosphere, too.

Great place. I was seated quickly and the food came quickly too. The chicken pot stickers were way above average but the Tom yum was fairly run of the mill although absolutely nothing wrong with it. Table was cleared immediately which allowed me to enjoy the vestiges of my Singha.

Rude & horrible service here!!! My 2 friends and I(we are all Asian girls from New York) decided to pop in to ask about late lunch around 2pm. We were staying in the hotel nearby and noticed this place. We barely got to step in – opened the door, politely asked for a table for 3, some exceedingly rude Asian girl who works there walked towards us, tying up her hair saying curtly, «we busy» and chased us out. She didn’t bother smiling or greeting us, didn’t bother saying sorry would you mind waiting, come back another time. Terrible !!! Made us feel like she was being a racist to her own kind!!! I don’t care that this place has a trip advisor sticker — if they don’t even have staff with basic answer the door manners, they don’t deserve any customers. The girl was even more rude than NY Chinatown places which may be in a rush but will at least say, hey there’s a wait !

Surprised by the low rating! Also, there is absolutely no way this place qualifies as a 3 euro sign restaurant. I’m glad we gave it a try for lunch! We ordered the Tom Yum Coconut Soup with Chicken which was pretty good. In general, we prefer the non-coconut milk Tom Yum. It was 4.50 euro. We also had an order of the chicken satay skewers which were very good! I loved the peanut sauce and pickled cucumber that came with it. These were 3.50 euro. Then, we ordered a beef dish with vegetables and rice which was 8.50 euro. This was really good. We asked for it spicy and it came back at a good spice level — not enough to make you sweat but enough to feel it. These three items were enough for 2 people but no leftovers — we cleaned our plates! The service was fast and friendly. The food was also delivered to our table very soon after we ordered. Overall, very pleased with our lunch here!

For fans of thai food this place is a must. I’ve eaten here and in the sister restaurant in Navan on numerous occasions and I’ve never been disappointed. The green curry is fantastic and has a lovely kick to it. The appetiser platter is well worth sharing too, in particular I love the chunky satay sauce. The food is flavoursome, the servings plentiful and the prices are reasonable. The food is accompanied by a good wine list and a selection of SE Asian beers. The place has a lovely atmosphere to it too, it may look a tad tacky from the outside but that tends to give it an authentic feel. The staff are very efficient and pleasant. I’ve always felt well looked after in this place.

this is the best thai food ive ever had and thats saying a lot! I absolutey love thai food and didnt know how this one would compare but i dont regret it one bit for stepping foot into this restaurant. I got the yellow curry with prawns and it was just the perfect mix of spicy and sweet. The potatoes melted in my mouth and the prawns were very soft and cooked super well. They were overly generous with their size of the side of rice which is always a plus. Definitely recommend others to go here for good affordable thai food!

Don’t eat here! I really had high hopes and came in with a positive mind and a heart set on good Thai. We had four separate starters and four separate mains. Not one single thing lived up to our expectations. Not even the burnt rice. The green curry was way to thick and tasted like it had been standing on the stove all day, cocking slow with a burnt bottom. The crispy duck«salad» was not even close to a salad, it looked just like the beef stir fry. It also tasted and smelled of vinegar, although the waiter could assure us there was none in it. The beef stir fry was dripping with a slimy sauce. I won’t even mention the nasty starters. The only thing good about this place was the service, up until the moment they realized we were not happy with the food. After that it was lacking. Don’t eat here!!!

Worst Thai food ever. Overcocked, oversalted, burned. This is not thai, it’s more like chinese

It’s very hard to get good Thai food in Dublin but this is certainly one of the best places around. The Pad Thai is delicious and the curry has a delightful but not overpowering kick. The early bird menu offers very good value before 7pm mid-week.

As an asian foodie, I’m quite particular with my foods, and I know how Thai can taste different than Vietnamese vs Indonesian etc. etc. It was a late night dinner, we sat in around 10pm. Me and mum ordered the chicken Satay starter and the Tofu Pad Thai for main. The Chicken skeweres were strips of chicken breast, which was different than what I imagined — bite sized chicken. The meat was dry although the taste was ok. The dipping peanut sauce was way too chunky for my taste though. It was more peanut chunks than sauce in my opinion. The Pad Thai on the other hand, was much better than I expected Dublin Thai has to offer. Although better than expectations, it still wasn’t as original as what I would expect. It was lacking in some herbs(lemon grass etc.) and some chilli and fish sauce. The taste was quickly improved with a side of fish sauce. One thing that annoyed me though was the super chunky peanuts in the noodles. It was a little too much in ratio than I would like. Overall, a good experience. Great for occasions when I do crave some Thai, although not exactly like Thailand, still hits the spot. But that is also expected in a town where there aren’t that many Thai/Asian people, the restaurant has to cater more to the local tastes.

After eating pub food for ten days, I needed a change. I was craving something spicy, Thai food was sounding so good. I eat Thai food quite a bit back home, it’s kinda my version of comfort food. I knew exactly what I wanted before sitting down. I ordered Beef Pad See Ewe, the waitress looked at me like I had 3 eyes. She didn’t know what it was. I assured her the cook should know, and I saw Pad See Ewe on the menu, all she had to do is add beef. She came back and said the cook said ok. Well, what I was served was Beef Pad Thai. Am I being picky? I don’t think so, if I wanted Pad Thai I would’ve ordered Pad Thai. Whatever, I didn’t say anything and I ate it. Well a couple hours after going to bed, I woke up with the worst case of food poisoning I’ve had in years. I have an iron stomach, not much can get me sick, without going into detail, I spent the entire night and plus my 12 hour flight back home next to a toilet. Stay far away from this place unless you want to lose a couple unwanted pounds.

This restaurant has been on Westmoreland St for a long time, and even though I used to get my bus from outside the door, I never managed to cross the threshold… well a lunch gathering with some friends the other day sorted that for us. First impression was that it was so quiet — only 3 other people the whole hour we were there! Not a good sign! But I can confirm that its not the food, nor the service which was(obviously:)) attentive. They catered for one our party who likes ‘food with no sauce’, although the idea took a while for the waiter to grasp — ‘there will be no taste’ he extolled. Anyway plainly stir fired chicken & veg came out and my friend was happy! The other 3 dishes we had were tasty and we were supplied with lots of rice and plentiful water top ups(it was lunch time after all). My main downside is the tables are a bit small, I always find that with multiple plates associated with Asian cuisine, a round table suits best! Not a hugely expensive lunchtime outing, and would probably go back.

Nice cosy place. We were there early and the door was locked but open within seconds. We were seated and got a menu — I wish they would elborate a little more what the dishes are since I was there with friends who had never had thai before and had to explain everything. I orderd some lamb which was utterly delicous and perfectly spiced. We all had to share a bowl of rice(3 people for a medium sized ball really???) But the food was just so so so good that it was okay and good early bird prices. The server was a big too eager and tried to clear our table before we had finished but all in all a good place and I’d go back again!

Good Thai food! Atmosphere and services were also nice. But it’s rather expensive for Thai food…

i miss this place. it was my spot to grab a green curry or pad kra pow. the service was always friendly and i must say even though it might not be the best restaurant in town, its a nice choice if you’re tired of your usual. holds a special place in my heart, for sure.

Looking for a place to eat and have a chat, me and a friend went here for their early bird dinner. They have quite a good offer with a three course for 18 euro menu. I started with the chicken satay skewers which were lovely and then had the sweet and sour which was so uninspiring. I don’t know if I just ordered the wrong thing but it was bland, bland, bland. The sauce tasted extrordinarily like tomato sauce from a tin of beans, and had none of the sticky, sweet chili flavour I was expecting. My friend was happier with her choice of mains. I got the raspberry roulade for dessert which was nice, although I pretty sure it was premade. Everything was edible but my main was so disappointing. Service was good and the staff were very pleasant. The prices were fine, but I’d be very pissed off if I got that for full menu price.

Right, it’s been at least 10 mins since I last wrote a review on a Thai eatery, so I must be due one. The Thai Orchid from the outside looks a bit dodgy and the inside looks tacky with plastic fountains and the like… leave all of that aside and concentrate on the menu, read the all too spartan descriptions and think this is either going to be very good or very bad, stand up and get your coat… to get the mobile you left in it. Absolutely stay and order whatever you like because it is going to be good — like really good. Straying from my usual red curry(extra hot) I usually have the Yellow curry here with chicken(and extra chilli), it is spectacular, served as it is in a terracotta pot with a wee night-light under it to keep things toasty. They have a nice little wine list and the bill at the end of the night is never shocking. Go, enjoy, you’ll be glad you ignored the ornaments!

One should invariably exercise the greatest caution when going to public house or eatery in Westmoreland St. The street is a little too close to Temple Bar for comfort. Temple Bar means tourists, and the proximity of tourists tends to push everyone’s prices up a fraction. Thai Orchid is right on the margin of Temple Bar, almost in the tourist trap itself. The restaurant is very nice and well lit inside, though some might find the décor a little overpowering: they took the oriental theme and really ran with it. The staff are very pleasant, very polite. Now, there’s nothing really wrong per se with the food. The one time that I ate at Thai Orchid I got the pad thai, which is quite difficult to get completely wrong. I was not by any means really horrible or anything; it was just pretty uninspiring. And € 17 price tag that accompanies the majority of the main courses is a little bit too much for food that is nothing to write home about. Sub-par.
