I would completely agree with u, the hospitality s very bad… as if they are least interested… Just for the sake they are serving us… M nt talking about the food quality… But u feel a negative feedback if the staff are my good

Been eating here for 5yrs now and it is the best Indian I have ever had. Their peshwari Naan is unreal, as is the Chicken Lababdar and Saag Paneer. I think this is truly the best Indian in the city. If I could eat if every day I would ;) You must give it a try!

My friend and I got a deal voucher. Oh dear! With our voucher we could order food of up to € 60 value but when we wanted to make an order, waitress told us we weren’t allowed to order neither prawns or kebab dishes. Well nothing about this on the voucher. After all they decided to agree with us, however the atmosphere was ruined. Food wise very average. I had Lamb Masala for my main and Meat Samosas for starter. To be honest had way better from my local Take Away.

Armed with a deal voucher purchased online, me and friends went to this place for nice 2 course Indian meal. The service we found was a bit awkward– we have had food at various indian restaurants before, and staff we usually find to be very friendly and flexible to our simple vegetarian requirements. We were in for a surprise at this Saagar restaurant, where the staff we found to be unfriendly, and not ready to listen to us. We decided, lets just order from the menu, eat and get out of this place, and to cool down we ordered couple of beers!!! for which we got charged 9EUR for a pint. what a rip off, when asked to explain such steep price, they just mentioned it was due to higher licencing fees etc… Never ever going to this place again. and oh btw. food was not completely out of this world, having eaten at many indian restaurants across dublin, i can safely say i have had better food at a cheaper price.

The food was absolutely delicious. The service was awkward. Visiting from the states, the Indian+Irish accents were challenging. The price was reasonable. Be prepared to have a strange experience if you do NOT have a voucher or the desire for the 2 course/2 people/wine special. It’s almost like they’ve forgotten how to do anything else.

Great food, great value. One of the best Indian restaurants I’ve found in Dublin.

Armed with a fifty euro voucher, myself and the Corkwoman headed in to Saagar, which is located in the basement of a Georgian building on Harcourt St. Apparently Bram Stoker used to live here, and the black range cooker which was part of the kitchen during his tenancy is still there, probably lurking in the shadows and waiting to pounce on the necks of passing virgins. Our eating experience there was very mixed, unfortunately. The waiter service was good, and the menu has a decent range to choose from. The chicken starter was a disappointment though, really rubbery and flavourless. On the other hand, my main, the pindi channa(chickpeas in a tomato sauce) was terrific; spicy and flavoursome. The Corkwoman’s chicken tikka masala was served in really sweet and creamy sauce, lovely if that’s what you go for in an Indian curry, but the chicken itself was, again, very rubbery. My garlic naan smelled slightly of garlic, sadly that’s all I can say about it! We both ordered coke, which was almost completely flat. The restaurant started to fill up towards the end of our meal, and despite getting quite busy, the waiter kept an eye on us. The service is good, friendly and not intrusive, but I can’t say I’d recommend it for the food. I’m glad I didn’t pay full whack for the meal, it really wasn’t worth it.

I came to saagar on a friday night and it was really peaceful and quite. There were 4 other tables that were occupied when we arrived, with 9 people. Of course the positive is that you get your choice of seat in the bright dining room. Our waiter was extremely proffesional and helpful, we were given the menus, the wine list was great and I was given the extra privileged information by the staff. I ordered my food and after a while out comes the tin wheely trolley with our food — so atleast it came on time. Food was lovely, and I really enjoyed the meal. Overall I’d eat here again as I had a pleasent experiance and the food was great! You can eat 3 courses for € 9.95, definitely the nicest Indian food I’ve eaten in Dublin.
