Things that make you go hmmm??? Madison Avenue is the definitive shopping destination in New York City. Madison is a shop without definition. Its bright pink exterior, as well as the beautiful pots and blossoms in the windows, pull you in, but finding only fake flowers put me out! When I was there, they were taking orders for fresh roses — but only for Valentine’s Day (?!) — and none were on display. I would chuck the silk and plastic pretenders in favor of real plants and/​or flowers — or simply display the planters which are works of art in and of themselves. Perhaps they could team with someone like The Garden florist in the front of Powerscourt. It would be a NATURAL collaboration. The shop and pots are gorgeous. The service is attentive and friendly. Madison just needs to have more life and less artifice.
