Go and get a sandwich here. Or salad. Just do it. It doesn’t matter which one you get, they are all amazing and such good value, just go and do it. And while you’re there, get some carrot cake as well. You know you want to. And don’t let the queue outside put you off, it is moving really fast. Also, you may think by the time it’s your turn the staff will be all grumpy and stressed but you are wrong: they are a genuinely lovely bunch with big smiles on their faces. Now go on and get fed!

More often than not this is were I get my morning coffee and try to resist buying a baked good. They are SO good. I just had a banana bread and carrot cake today and it was the best 10 minutes of my year so far. The sandwiches, salads and soups are worth queueing for. So tasty and full of goodness. They know what they are doing. Oh and the sausage rolls on Fridays. There you go I’m drooling. Service is ok. The food makes me forgive anything anyway. I’m joining the queue of the healthy looking guys in suits.

The sausage roll to end all sausage rolls. It’s only available on Fridays(which is probably a good thing given their size), but its everything you. Be ready to queue as this place has quite a following.

Went here today based on Unilocal reviews. Glad I did! You can’t pass this place without noticing the large queue that is always there from 12. I never bothered queuing until now. The queue moves fast, don’t be put off. I got a beef brisket brown bread sandwich, pumpkin seed banana bread and coffee. The sandwich was unreal, quality beef and a real homemade taste. The banana bread looked home made too, cling film packaged and very fresh. Tasted like nothing I’ve ever had before. The coffee was also great. Overall I would definitely come back, regardless of the queue. All the above came to less than 9 euro. A steal really.

Green Bench Café is amazing. Its only available for take away food but worth sitting in the park on a cold day for :) It has daily specials on all food and there is no set menu here. I actually put off eating here for a long time even though every one had raved about it due to the waiting line always being out the door and up the street. I finally went in when I was passing a little before lunch and rush hour there. The ingredients are fresh, sandwiches are creative and staff are friendly… even when under pressure of a huge street queue. The prices are reasonable for city centre and portions are large. Highly recommend it!

Hin da when in Dublin!

Sorry, I didn’t take a picture as I devoured my sandwich without a second thought. Early afternoon, and after a quality stroll through St. Stephen’s Green & Grafton Street(wondering whether or not I needed another bottle of cologne from Brown Thomas); my girlfriend and I stopped in. I, the carnivore moved my eyes across the menu as soon as I entered. And my vegan girlfriend stared off into the space hoping I won’t take forever on choosing a sandwich. There was an empty spot on the menu, between two options– whatever that option was, it’s long gone now. And of course I wanted that one the most. Though at the end, I chose the pulled pork sandwich. A beautiful marriage of tender shredded pork and a variety of flavors and textures from the bread and greens. There was no queue on my visit, though I can understand why a queue would exist.

I didn’t want to like this place because there us usually a line of people out the door and most of them are in suites, but unfortunately they have really good coffee and food, so now I have to like them.

I can’t believe I only discovered this place a month ago! What have I been doing with my life? The Green Bench Café deserves all the praise it’s been getting and then some. The best goddamn sandwiches you are likely to find in our fair city. I will be utterly shocked if you can find me one better. Vibrant, fresh ingredients with superb combinations that are sure to be a highlight of anyone’s day. The different sauces they use to match are so ridiculously flavoursome, that I’d probably… no. I would, give up my first born for the recipes! If I wasn’t so full of praise for this place, I’d be ashamed to admit that I ate here 4 times in one week. It would have been five if I’d been working! I’ve sampled the: Hereford Prime roast rare Beef w/curry Mayo, carrot/mange tout/pepper salad, cheddar — Beef was just perfect. Great flavour and fall apart tender. The curry mayo complemented it wonderfully and accompanying ingredients set it over the edge. Turkey & Ham w/herb stuffing, yoghurt Mayo, slaw, avocado & rocket — If you think this is just another bog standard ham sandwich, you are wrong… Dead wrong! The only time I’m going to eat a ham and turkey sandwich is the 5 days the proceeds Xmas. It’s a sad day in my house when the turkey and ham run out at Xmas. Fear not! This place does the best turkey and ham sandwich I’ve ever tasted! Sorry Mam, but the Green Bench Café do it better than anyone.(Thankfully, she’ll never read this) Sausage & Potato Rosti w/roasted red peppers, slaw… Awh who cares! Did you not just read Sausages and Potato Rosti’s in a sandwich?! These are FAT proper sausages too. No sign of those shrivelled, little buggers. The rosti rocked… all round top notch stuff! They only do it on a Friday so if you’ve had one too many on a Thursday night and are in work on Friday? This sandwich will cure any hangover, I guarantee it. Do yourself a favour and head over there for this sandwich next Friday. You will not regret it. Luckily for me, my lunchtime usually hits at about 3.30pm, so I’m in and out in five minutes. Happy days! I suggest you arrive hungry because these sandwiches are not for the faint hearted! I’m usually against getting a sandwich for my lunch because you’re left starving two hours later. These bad boys? I had one a day for my DINNER! The best part of all? All the sandwiches are only € 5.50. You’ll probably spend € 4.50 for a hot chicken fillet roll in centra, right? For € 1 extra, you are treated to the best sandwich in Dublin. Don’t be an idiot. GOTHERE.

Some really great food! This is the perfect place to grab food and then head to at. Stephens park. Nice variety of options and fast preparation which is good because it’s popular! The folks working there were great and personable. My wife got an incredible ham sandwich that was fresh and flavorful. I had an Irish Cajun chicken that was fresh, but it was a tad bland for my taste. The person working their espresso machine made a great americano!

Wow. I am so glad I got lost when searching for this place because the moment I ate the food I realized that it was definitely worth it. So far I have only tried the breakfast. I got the porridge. But this isn’t any boring porridge. I opened up the lid and on top was strawberry rhubarb compote and vanilla yogurt. Each bite was perfect. My friend and I sat on the green bench and enjoyed our fabulous breakfast.

People have been raving about this place and the reviews are superb. I had a falafel, hallumi and feta wrap. It was nice but I had to put salt on it for a bit more taste. My colleagues had lovely chicken sandwiches and ones with sausage. I was trying to be a bit healthier but the taste suffered and I just craved the meat ones. BIG mistake. HUGE! So will have to go back to taste again. The girl behind the counter was über friendly and they are very well organised.

Efficiency and good product is for me the best way to describe this business. The venue is small, the people there coordinated to serve you a sandwich to take away very fast during the lunch time. I got the sausage sandwich to take away and it was very good. Great range of sweets

Delicious, quality food AND an insanely reasonable price. It is possible to find both in one place, and this is it. It exists. It’s the unicorn of food, and it’s here in Dublin. This place was built up a lot, and it’s everything that everyone talks about… and more… and then some more. Don’t be discouraged by the line, it moves quickly and is totally worth just a short wait. Service is friendly and the menu is small but with a wide range of options(chicken, falafel, pork, turkey, salads). It was hard to pick but I went for the sausage and potato rosti sandwich(special on Fridays), which was probably the best sandwich I’ve ever had in my life. Every ingredient is thought out, the flavor combos are to die for, and you pay 5.50(6.50 for chicken)!!! The sandwich is also huge, but it’s too delicious not to finish, so be prepared for the food coma. Great location between Stephen’s Green and Iveagh Gardens which are perfect for sitting down with your sandwich. You’ll need the walk after you’re done, trust me. I would try anything and everything on their menu(and I will), I just wish I had room at the end for one of their pastries, which all looked fab. The problem now is going out and trying new places when you know you can get the king of all sandwiches at Green Bench Café!

Yummy, yummy… Love in my tummy! This place is amazing… Consistently knocking it out of the park with their sandwiches, hot pots, salads and not to mention their little sweet cake treats. Not surprising this place is always up there with the best lunch in Dublin recommendations and for me, it really does live up to that. The queue at lunch hour is also very telling… But let me rest assure you, the queue can make you think twice but don’t… Jump into the queue and quickly you will see it moving along. It moves along so fast, they have a military style set up in this small café and the production line works, so before you know you will be oogling the menu board and shouting across your brisket order, or whatever it is that tastes your fancy. They mix up their menu often which is great, keeps the interest there and always with the most unusual combinations. The menu is often inclusive of free range, organic local ingredients which is refreshing to see and for their price range, it’s a bargain! You can combo a sandwich up with a cup of soup or a hot pot and again, the meal offers for this place is on the money, good value and worthy. They have barista made coffee available here, so ok, whilst not my favourite go to place for my daily coffee requirements but when I’m hitting this place up for lunch, the coffee, yes please!

I could just write«Go to Green Bench NOW» and leave my review at that. This place is THAT incredible. Had the BBQ Pork Shoulder and it was too much to describe. The quality of the ingredients really shines through, and it’s overall a very well built sandwich. Plus I couldn’t really finish it, which left more goodness for a mid-afternoon snack. I’d give this place 6 stars if I could.

Consistently fresh, tasty, and for the longest line at lunch they have perfected the art of making food quickly! Their pork is delicious, and best served in a wrap. Their salads change daily, and they update their fb page to keep their patrons in the know. I go for lunch at least 2x a week and never get tired of it. They also don’t mind if you play around with the options — like getting their chicken on the sambo that usually comes with ham. The staff is really nice, even in the midst of a busy takeaway crowd. Highly recommend it!

There’s nothing left to say as I’m busy stuffing my face full of goodness from the brisket, curry mayo and slaw sandwich. But that’s not enough — I got a raspberry and white chocolate brownie as well! Sure I’m burning those calories already — walking to Stephen’s Green to sit on a bench in the sunshine while I devour them! *Tip — you need to pinch your nose in the queue outside… you’ll know why when you get there ;)

This is one of those places that’s had everything said about it already, but I must add to the hype; this is one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in Dublin. As mentioned by others, there is always a queue around lunchtime but it moves very quickly and it is absolutely worth it! The staff are very efficient and get orders from down the queue so that everything is ready to go by the time you hit the register. They are also very personable and have great relationships with the regulars. I came here on a Friday when the elusive sausage sambo was available and my God is it unreal! And it’s not even expensive– far better value than any pre-packed sandwich you’ll get at your local shop! I’m going here tomorrow, and every day I can to follow. Amazing!

*BargainAlert* As well as having great sandwiches and salads, I just wanted to draw attention to the fact that Greenbench also do the most delectable little brownies, carrot cake slices and flapjack-type bars, which go for about € 1.50 a pop! I consider them the perfect little bitch-slap to rid the afternoon slump :)

Green Bench packs massive punch for a pint sized place, sandwiches, salads, hot pots, great coffee and delicious home made healthy cakes(ok I lie they’re prob not healthy but damn they’re tasty!) They’re also exceptionally well priced for what you get a soup & sandwich will set you back € 7 and keep you full for the rest of the day. This is a well loved place by everyone in our office and others as evident by the queue at lunchtime. The staff are also lovely, kudos to the main lady who manages the till too. She has to deal with a zillion orders all at once and I’ve never seen her crack under the pressure, always cool calm and with a lovely smile. Well done Green Bench!

This tiny little sandwich shop located in a little alley in Dublin is one of the hottest rated businesses in Unilocal… and d’ya know what? It’s well deserved. I’m not a big sarnie(or should that be sambo) person. I don’t have them for lunch as I have never been a huge fan of bread in general(memories of school lunchboxes) and as such, when sandwiches were suggested for lunch I had a bit of a «meh» response. In the spirit of trying things I wouldn’t normally go for, I felt it would be worth a go when it was suggested by my colleague last week. Firstly, be prepared the queue. The line to get into this place was OK when we got there(at around 12:30, maybe?) but the line when we left was twice as long. Saying that, it moved really quickly which is a testament to the fantastic staff who work at this little gem of a venue. This is definitely a lunch hot spot. Soups, salads, wraps and sandwiches are on the menu here and there are combo deals if you want more than one thing. The prices are pretty good too! A vegetarian Butternut Squash wrap with Halloumi and some accompanying autumn soup was € 7. The wrap was made fresh and the soup was hot and comforting. I was in the queue, served and out the door in around 15 minutes with my brown paper bag of deliciousness ready to lunch it up back at the office. IT.WAS.ALL.DELICIOUS. All of the ingredients were evidently entirely fresh and the soup was warm, zingy and comforting. I honestly think if I lived in Dublin I would eat at this joint at least a few times a week. So, in summary… The staff? Fantastic. The selection? Delectable. The price? Very fair. The taste? AMAZING. Dublin, you are so spoiled to have this Café in your city.

I am shocked, shocked this place doesn’t have more reviews. I know it’s up to 20+, but that’s tiny compared to what this place will have in a few years. Mark my words, this is one of the soon to be go-to non-missible spots in Dublin. It’s an amazing tiny sandwich spot that makes hearty, amazing sandwiches on the cheap. There is always a queue, and I mean always, but they power through and it won’t take you more than 10 minutes to get through it. There is also nowhere to sit, and even if there was, it’s too packed in there to sit anyway. Just be warned. However, it’s all worth it, because holy hell these sandwiches are amazing. There’s a chalkboard as you come in to figure out what you want. I got the halloumi wrap with spicy tomato soup and it was perfect. Perfect I say. Rich and creamy and the cheese was excellent cooked and there were a ton of veggies all put together. And the soup was spicy but not overly so and rich and thick and so good. So good. I can’t recommend this place enough. I love a good sandwich and this, my friends, was a damn good sandwich.

There was a day that I had two sandwiches. About two hours apart. I just couldn’t face the fact that the first one was gone out of my life forever. What can I say that hasn’t already been said? THE. HYPE. IS. WORTH. IT. These lads know what they’re doing. They are sambo pros. I pride myself in making an absolutely whopper sandwich, but it couldn’t compare to the Green Bench. The pork shoulder one is probably my favourite, but honestly they’re all good. There are also amazing salads and delicious baking, as well as fresh veg juices. If you get there at any time between 12.45 and 2pm, there is guaranteed to be a queue. But it moves fast, and trust me, it’s WORTHIT.

It was about time I upgraded my review of Green Bench Café from four stars to five stars. OK the sandwiches are excellent, I’ve established that. But today I went for salad box, which is 5EUR. There are normally four salads to choose from and you also get a bit of meat on top, with a bit of dressing included in the corner for good measure. I opted for all the salads with a piece of salmon, which is grilled there and then. Today’s salad choices were: — sweet potato, lentils, red onion, rocket, hazelnut — tomato, green beans, chickpeas, spinach — carrots, red cabbage, wild rice, apple — sweet corn, pepper, scallions, avocado, tabbouleh My goodness, it was so flipping delicious. Serious tastiness going on here. Each one of the four salads were great. The queue is still long, but moves quickly. If you are on Facebook and want to know what’s on the Green Bench Café menu each day, you should like their page and tick«Get Notifications». You’ll get their daily menu every time they post it to Facebook. I normally know what I’m going to order before I arrive… nom.
