A bit overhyped and overcrowded, built around the concept of brunch(which I dislike, hence the tone of the review), but one thing for certain, it had the best french toast I’ve had in years. If you’re into brunch and standing in line for it — this place is perfect.

This is the Sunday brunch I have been looking for — perfectly prepared french toast with a sweet syrup and stacked with bacon — served with a good strong coffee. it was fantastic. Junior chose the beans on toast — a less impressive dish which had him gazing wistfully at mine. A better father would have shared or even swapped but«nuts to him» I thought, he will treat this as a life lesson, I dug into my lovely bacon and toast with relish. …no, we shared, though I did so grudgingly, it was really very good. For 3 of us, 3 dishes and 2 coffees the bill came to less than 30 Euro, which was very good and streets ahead of sister Sadie from a couple of weeks ago. Only thing I’d say is you should go early — certainly for a Sunday morn where the place filled up incredibly quickly after opening.

Great little coffee in such a nice location in portobello. Everything is so quiet you feel like you’ve left the city for Brunch. We went with a friend and had to wait about 15′ for brunch but they take your number and call you when a table is ready. However not sure the place would be suited for large groups of people. Good was very good, had the classic eggs Benedict served with sprout&co juice. The highlight of the brunch was my peanut butter brownie.

Great neighbourhood café. Super busy and loud at the weekend though. I’ve been going to Bibi’s for years now but less frequently of late as I no longer live around the corner but luckily the bf does! The food is by and large super yummy but the brownies(peanut & baked cheesecake) and blondies are to die for. There have been a couple instances where service was less than ideal hence 4 rather than 5 stars but if they manage to eradicate those from my memory over the next while I’ll revisit the review.

I am truly heartbroken that I no longer live just down the road from this hidden gem! The menu is full of savory comfort food with a creative twist while the community tables give the café a very homey look and feel. My go to brunch order is the Turkish eggs, they’re delicious!

Loved my visit to BiBi’s café! Such a neighborhood gem! Came here with a group of 5 on a Friday around 11am. We were seated immediately(seriously, the luck strikes again!) as this location is on the smaller side, I was surprised we had such great timing. The menu is concise and organized, and yet, I had great difficulty deciding between the sweet Mixed Berry French toast, or the savory sausage pastries. One of my friends ordered the French Toast — so I opted for the sausages(score!). I also ordered a coconut cappuccino(AMAZE!) I nearly ordered another after practically downing the first(the only reason I didn’t — was because I told myself I would pick up a bakery treat on my way out). Waitress was kind, and very helpful(we had to break some currency on her). On the way out, I picked up a cheesecake brownie(yum!) for 3.5 euro. I would 100% return to Bibi’s if I returned to Dublin.

If you are looking for a lovely place for breakfast, you found it! The food is delish and the coffee is outstanding. Triple points because the have almond milk. The atmosphere is quite relaxed with a vintage/hipster flair. I really recommend the Turkish eggs or the ones with squash(heavenly). If you love bacon, the French toast with bacon is for you, it has tons of it! The cakes & pastries are amazing too. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because they don’t have a courtesy newspaper. Other than that, I love this spot.

I was quite disappointed with my visit to BiBi’s, especially as I trekked half an hour across town, hungover, to have brunch here with the girls. We got there and were told there’s a 30min wait for a table and they’d call us when the table is ready. We sat outside in the cold and waited. After 25mins a waitress comes out and asks us to please stand while we are waiting and there were still 2 parties ahead of us. Apparently people wanted to eat outside, something that was not offered to us earlier. At that stage, we decided to leave just as another staff member called to say our table is ready. So yeah, that system seems to work really well for them … The service we received once seated was excellent. We were looked after with plenty of cucumber/mint water straight away; we ordered black coffee, mocha and a hot chocolate, hazelnut and peanut butter brownies and the black pudding on sourdough with poached eggs. The brownies were amazing but the egg dish I wouldn’t order again. It was just okay. The people that were seated on the other end of our table(yes, we had to share our table) had the French Toast which looked much more appetizing. The interior is really pretty and although they are very busy, the service was very friendly and quick. I’d give them another go some other time.

Have heard many things, was not disappointed! This place is definitely a gem and everyone knows it, so it’s packed on weekends. We were lucky to arrive on a Saturday and get a table immediately, everyone else who came after us had to leave their number to be called when a table opened up. It’s tucked away in a residential area, which gives it a nice atmosphere. The menu has a variety of brunchy goodness and everything sounds delicious. I got the brioche french toast with berries and it was heavenly: crispy, fluffy, sweet and tart and the perfect combo of flavors! Had a bite of the sausage rolls and they were also out of this world, the seasoning is on point, the flakey crust, the spicey chutney… everything just works. Also had room to try the scones and enjoyed them, a little dry but it depends on how you like your scones. Staff is very friendly and service was fairly quick considering how crazy busy they were, didn’t feel the food or even the presentation suffered which was also nice. My Chai latte was a bummer, pretty much no flavor at all, just a mug of slightly-warmer than room temperature milk. The cucumber water is a little weird but I guess it depends on your preference, would like to have just normal water but they’re fancy, I get it! Bibi’s is fairly close so we will definitely be back. Because it’s so popular we’d likely call ahead next time, it’s difficult to just show up hungry in the weekend brunch zone and get a table so it doesn’t have the convenience of being a spontaneous decision. Can’t really fault them for being good, and having everyone know it, though!

Finally got here for brunch! Maybe I just ordered the wrong dish but I wasn’t blown away with the food at this place. I ordered the French toast and it wasn’t out of this world. The place itself is nice and cosy. They have jars of water nicely arranged on each table with mint leaves and cucumber I think it was which was a really nice touch. I found the service to be a bit slow. Really had to get their attention to order at first, and again when I wanted the bill. This place gets a lot of good hype, but I just wasn’t feeling it. Maybe it was just an off day. All in an thigh, it wasn’t terrible and it is local for me so I would probably try this place again.

I am writing this as I sit in Bibi’s waiting for Turkish Eggs. Bibi’s menu is the perfect mix of home comforts and creativity. They have a few original options such as the Turkish eggs and the spicy butternut squash(which I would definitely recommend). I was recommended this place by a fellow Unilocaler at work; she basically recommended it to everyone and made us all into huge fans. Bibi’s is a fully positive experience, beyond the food being excellent, this little reclusive café in Portobello is nothing but charming. I would easily say it’s my favourite brunch place in Dublin even when there are some excellent brunch options out there these days. If you are visiting Dublin, definitely venture out here. Walking through Portobello and its small well-kept Georgian houses is a lovely experience in itself. And I don’t think Bibi’s ever disappoints.

How have I not been here before?! I’m not gonna lie, I’m a little bit in love with this place. It’s a little like walking into a friend’s kitchen — I just adore the cosy, nearly familiar neighbourhood feel of it. It’s the type of place you could see yourself lounging for a long time, picking on their various baked goods for the day. Sweet mother are those good. They all have that homemade feel — crumbly and not quite perfect with dollops of good stuff on top. YUM. On this occasion, I had the pan-toasted sandwich with Gubbeen chorizo, manchego cheese and sundried tomatoes, served with a chilli crème fraîche. It was incredibly good. My friend and I then also shared the French toast… eeks… Also amazing. If I had room, I’d have rounded it off with a brownie, but I felt some restraint would bode well for the future… I only wish I lived closer!!!

One of those places where you basically share your table with the other people and if you need to go to the bathroom you need to refurnish the whole place because all tables are so close to each other. The food is nice, I’ve had butter squash and poach eggs. At first I was bit concerned why there’s so much oil at my plate but then I’ve realised this is the essence of the taste. It was really tasty, although, bread could be bit softer. Overall good experience.

This is about two weeks late however I wanted to be sure to post a review as my sister and I LOVED Bibi’s, especially being tourists. First, it was our last day in Dublin and we wanted to find a quiet breakfast spot so we poked around Unilocal. The reviews and menu looked good so we thought we’d give it a try. The food was amazing!!! We shared strawberry brioche French toast and poached eggs with bacon on English muffins(basically eggs Benedict). Both of us thought the food tasted so wonderfully and the presentation was perfect! The restaurant itself was adorable. The décor and set up was very cute, almost shabby chic-like. At first we definitely felt like it was clearly a locals spot and we felt a little out of place but the waitresses were very friendly. After we finished, we asked for some advice on where to venture out to for our last day in Ireland and a couple of them gave us great advice to take the train to Dun Laoghaire, walk around the beach, and have ice cream at Teddy’s. We took their advice and had a wonderful last day in Ireland. I wish I could remember their names but thanks again to the girls working that morning! We really appreciated it!

There’s great bunch spots in Dublin, that serve a million types of eggs with accoutrements. But BiBis does it a little differently, and arguably does it the best. The well-thought through menu has changes every week with endless variations on a theme — the ingredients of the seasonal salads and grilled gruyère sandwiches swap frequently, but other menu stalwarts remain the same, like the Turkish eggs and the chorizo baked beans. Even though the service can vary from the friendly to the absent, the peaceful location, the early 30s relaxed D8 crowd, and the food make BiBis the perfect neighbourhood café.

Smoked salmon eggs benedict with fresh wilted spinach on toasted sourdough. Need I say more? But I will. Comfortable corner café on a quiet side street. Plenty of on street parking although I did arrive at 2:15 on a weekday. Casually furnished with a long farmhouse style table(good for large parties. I was solo so took a seat on the end) and about six Parisian style metal café tables. Service, food and ambience was excellent. € 12 with a pot of tea.

Bibi’s Café was a good surprise. Hidden in a peaceful street at the North of the Canal, no one would expect such a cute Breakfast place. Small and cozy, let me tell you that it deserves its rating. Nomnomnom, after a little walk on the canal, here I am on a sunny Sunday mor… afternoon. First impression, the place. Very cute, a little girly, with a few ‘weird art piece’. I like that :). The service was okay, the dishes reaaaally good. I had the poached eggs, which were good(and the cooking was perfect), my other half had the grilled cheese. Mamma mia, it was delish! Except that it became a little sickening at the end, maybe a little too much butter. However, the association of the chutney with the ham and cheese was really worth feeling a little heavy afterwards. The bread was exceptionally good, and the granola too(even if I like it with more cluster, less muesly-like. But I’m quibbling). To finish, the juice were tasty, but I can’t get over the fact that despite they were made of the day, they were served in individual, single use bottles. Think of Mother Nature, good lord! Or maybe think of doing your own juices? Anyway, except for one or two details, this was a great experience. Thank you Bibi’s café, next time I’ll try to enjoy your cute terrace!
