Popping in here on a non Croke Park day means that I just get to see ‘the regulars’ who know everyone who walks in the door. They may or may not be staring at me, I won’t dare make eye contact… ‘Just keep looking at the iPad Will’ :p Nah, this place is like any ‘regulars’ pub. And not as much ‘RA’(IRA) as I would have expected, given the mural type painting on the side of the pub. Yes they do have some Celtic posters and drawings up, but they are evenly match by the amount of ‘non-Dublin county’ GAA posters. This is even more surprising as they are in the heart of the Croke Park circle. So on a quite day you can come in here for a quite day and enjoy the locals taking the piss out of each other. As for the song and Luke Kelly, which was mentioned in a previous review, it is well worth listening to on YouTube.

I used to walk past the Auld Triangle but I never went inside until a friend of mine told me that it was a great place to go to for a few quiet ones– and having read Ronan’s review I think I’ll have to go back on match day as well. The pub has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, the bartender was great and told us a lot of stories about Dublin– I think he thought we were tourists– and the pints were good. We had a great old time and if you like quiet, traditional pubs this one’s for you.

The Auld Triangle isn’t the type of place you go to woo a lady, few places with Beamish on tap are, but it is a must on matchday. Even if it’s just for the one, and especially if the Dubs are winning. Features include a little fat kid mischieviously filling up water balloons in the gents and a serious amount of love for Luke Kelly. Respect. Oh and just a side note. If, like my companion on the day, you’re wearing colors from somewhere other than the capital– expect dogs abuse. Proper order too, I might add.
