Used to go here quite having lived quite locally. Always found their produce quite good but on my last visit i was left disappointed. I purchased two large fillet steaks. Cooked them on my return and they seemed to reduce in size, quite a bit of water came out of them and they were quite tough. This would be in contrast to their other cuts i have experienced, which have been very good. Poor experience on last occasion but perhaps a once off.

Great butchers shop. Expansive selection of meats including prepared meats, wild game in season and as another review said, some bloody brilliant beef. They have very knowledgeable butchers who will always have time to discuss and advise whatever you need. Impressive window display too

This is an proper butcher shop, they break down the carcass themselves. everything is available, and if not a few days will see it got. Excellent pork shoulders and pork loins, superb dry aged beef, a proper beef aging room, the meat looks fantastic. As well as all the other sausages, minces etc. Especial mention of the boned and rolled chickens which make the best sandwiches ever! A treasure trove of product and knowledge, a pleasure always, and very reasonable.

During my visit in Dublin, this adorable and fresh market was my lifeline! Donnybrook is a charming neighborhood and Dunnes was only blocks away from where I was staying. It was close enough that I could get to and from without worrying about being lost, as well as providing all of the essentials that I would need to survive a day alone until my Irish friends were off work and made it home to point me in the right direction. Definitely stocked up on chocolate here before coming back to the states!

I seem to reviewing an inordinate amount of butchers(I really should make a list) but the more I think about it the more I realise I go to a lot of different places for different meats — everyone does something different better than every one else. In the case of Dunnes they do a dry aged beef hung for 4 weeks and is just about melt in the mouth, they also do the usual stuff you go to a butchers for but in y case I probably go somewhere else for that too!
