Good food, much better Mexican than in home Texas. Friendly stuff, especially they took well care off kid. I recommend.

Having lived in Texas and eaten Real Mexican or Tex Mex(there is a difference), this was really tasty and delicious food and authentic. Margaritas had good flavour but were quite weak. I had two and didnt even notice there was any alcohol in them. So maybe stick with wine. Wait staff from Mexico and owner-manager very experienced in restaurant management from France. This is serious GOODFOOD and really GOODMEXICAN food and truly attentive customer service. The bartender may have been a little tired from all the Gymnastica people in town and felt somewhat overwhelmed. Make a booking because you will not get a table otherwise.

Really amazing food. Expensive but worth it. Reservations are a must! I strongly recommend the tasting menus to avoid having to make any choices between the consistently excellent items.

I have been to Patrona once with my girlfriends and can´t wait to go back! Typical Mexican dishes put in a classy and gourmet looking way ! Food of course costs a bit, but its worth the money! Seriously. Plus the cocktails were worth every penny! Ive been to other«Mexican» restaurants in Finland but this place totally slaps their faces! Must visit!

This place is legit. Which was a real surprise since being here in Helsinki you couldn’t be much further from mexico physically or in feel, especially in January. I walked in and the majority of the employees were speaking Spanish. As it turns out many of them are either from Mexico or Spain. The food, the service and the vibe were all awesome. The barbacoa lamb tacos were excellent as was the frozen lime pie. My only complaint would be the guac, it wasn’t quite right, a little thin and way too limey. Oh, and the margaritas! Their house margarita, la patrona, was one of the best I’ve had.

I went all the way to frickin’ Finland to get great Mexican food. WHAT?! Yes, it’s true. The Finns do the Mexican stuff quite well. I can’t even remember the last time I had Mexican food, as I’ve completely thrown in the guac-stained towel in London. But THIS, my friends — Patrona, is the real deal. A punch of Paloma to start(their cocktails are quite a treat!), followed by an array of tacos, shrimp, guac, sauces, salsas, and a lamb on the bone(in stew) that was to die for. No joke. Everything single thing that arrived to the table was fantastic, fresh and full of flavor. Real flavor. The kind Mexicans make. It was a glorious thing to behold. The service was very good as well. The ambience is festive but not cheesey. My only(small) complaint is that the tables are very wedged/tight. We were dining(2 of us) on a Tuesday evening and even though there wasn’t a couple next to us, I had to do some major maneuvering to get out of my table(asking several people to move). I can only imagine if we’d had more folks crowding in that it would’ve been a bit smushed. Take it for what its worth… Having said that — they have a really nice group dining table for 6 right by the entry that is very spacious. All the stuff! The Mexican stuff! Go get it.

Let’s get this out of the way: it’s not like Helsinki is Los Angeles or somewhere else with super competition for Mexican food. If you come here expecting that, nothing’s going to blow you away. But it’s still really good and it’s top-notch for the region, though a little expensive. Great atmosphere, too.

My favorite restaurant in Helsinki, but it’s hard to get in on short notice — always book a table. The drinks are spicy and delicious and they even give you a tequila tasting before dessert if you’re lucky. Food is excellent, everything I have ever eaten there has been SOGOOD.

Stopped by to try and grab dinner, but the kitchen was already closed, as apparently since it is in a residential building they stopped cooking an hour before close. I did have a couple of drinks at the bar and talked with the staff about Mexico and the people in the mural behind the bar of Mexican celebrities. The drinks were good, especially the tasty tequila and grapefruit ‘Paloma’.

We had a very nice dining experience here. Authentic Mexican food. Friendly service. The starters — quesadilla and the home made tortilla chips — were great. For the main, I had the lamb stew tacos. Awesome. Recommended.

Had the pleasure of stumbling upon this place while in Helsinki. Who suspected an authentic Mexican gem in Finland?!? Certainly not my boyfriend and I, who reside in San Francisco. This place is very special. You feel the good vibes when you walk in and every detail is on point. The food is sublime — lamb stew? Yes please! Killer margaritas? Yes please! Personable staff and pride of ownership? Hell yeah!

Returned to try our luck at Patrona, as previously it had been too busy to even fit through the door. The décor is beautiful and very authentic Mexican. The food was great, fresh and tasty. Only a few choices available but for me this is no problem and was reflected in the freshness of the meal. Also a small but very good selection of wines that you won’t commonly find elsewhere. A few good Mexican and Spanish beers. Also traditional and experimental tequila based cocktails on the drinks menu. Finished the night with an aged dark Mescal. The food was better than good, but what really makes Patrona different was the staff at this family-run restaurant. Super friendly and genuinely interested in their customers. Definitely will return with friends!

Just walked in here, because the chinese place I wanted to go was full. I was eating by myself and was seated on a big table, to share with others. Nice. The atmosphere is really great and the people genuine. Starters looked little small, but were really, really nice. The main was lamb in bouillon, from which taco’s can be made with some sauces to spice it up. Great lamb! The only downside to my menu was the lack of vegetables. Other than that, great place too eat, bit on the expensive side, but well worth it and not overpriced in an expensive city like Helsinki

My expectations were really high, as Patrona is always packed and everyone appears to love it. And i wasn’t disappointed, although not 100% blown away either. The atmosphere was great, the drinks were more than great, the service was warm and friendly, and the starters were really good. My main course was a slight disappointment, but only in comparison to my very high expectations, i.e. it was still good. Prepare to wait for both your pre-booked table and your food, though. Oh, and if Anna Abreu happens to be sitting at the table next to you, don’t expect your timetable to be the prioritized one.

Last week marked my third visit to Patrona and I have to say I’m as much in love with them as I was on my first visit over one year ago. Patrona serves Mexican food, but not the Mexican food that most people associate with that country. In fact, they serve Mexican food that is much more traditional and true to what the locals eat.(I’ve been told that — shockingly — the everyday Mexican meal isn’t a burrito!!!) And let me tell you, they serve these everyday Mexican foods very well. In fact, I have lived in San Francisco for many years and I know my way around the Latin neighbourhoods there… but I haven’t had traditional Mexican food in the quality that I’ve had it here at Patrona… which is odd: why in Helsinki of all places??? A couple weeks I came here with my colleague. He had never been, as it is really hard to get in without a reservation.(Unless you’re by yourself and don’t mind sitting at the bar. Tip: you need to make a reservation beforehand!) What I really loved and which is why they get the full five stars from me, is that the waitress greeted me with a «Welcome Back». Yes, I had been here a couple times already, but I actually wouldn’t have expected her to remember me at all… Anyways, the meal we ate was delicious: after a rounds of starters(I recommend the tacos with mango-pineapple salsa), we each received our mains. I went for the lamb on the bone in a soup served with corn tortillas and various condiments. It was a feast in itself and my colleague enjoyed his meal as well. To be fair, and here’s my criticism: it took an awful long time for the main course to arrive. There was a large group, which took up most oft he attention of the staff; one of Helsinki’s celebrity chefs was part of this group. In fact, we were getting a bit antsy already and had to ask the waiting staff a couple time for our orders. Nevertheless, at the end of the meal, the proprietress herself came to our table and proposed to finish off our meal with some tequila… of course! The tequila was served with a spicy tamarind cookie, which was quite interesting and complemented the strong liquor well. And the booze made the bill more digestible as well… after all, this is Finland and you should expect to be paying at least between 30 and 40 Euro per person when you go to a place like this.

Mexican food can be found probably anywhere in the world. And also in Helsinki you’ll find several different Mexican restaurants. But if you are searching for something special you should go to Patrona. The small restaurant on Annankatu is one of the most popular and probably also best Mexican restaurants in Helsinki. Not many dishes are offered here which speaks for the quality and the freshness of the food. Even though they might have the same classics that you probably know from several Mexican places before their dishes always have a certain something that makes them special. Enjoy their delicious tacos with lamb meat and an assortment of sauces to spice things up. Or go for the chocolate chili enchilada, a specialty of Patrona. And don’t worry, even if the portions seem quite small sometimes they are always filling. One of their famous margaritas or a spicy beer cocktail on the side works perfectly with the food. At Patrona table reservations are highly recommendable. Otherwise you might have to wait quite a while to be seated.

Everything tried was pretty tasty, with the feeling of authenticity. What I don’t find so appealing is the high class catering, which although enjoyable, drives the prices to a point painful. Given that the portions are moderately sized, the overall valuation is decreased by one star from the food alone would deserve.

This charming Mexican restaurant serves up some great Mexican food. I was very surprised at finding this quality Mexican food in Helsinki(way better than what one can find in Stockholm). While I have of course had better Mexican food in Mexico and California this is however fairly authentic and well-made. Service is very friendly and they are most helpful in splitting dishes, adding/removing items etc. The only drawback was that the drinks on the drink menu all have tequila in them(not my favorite) and the beer selection is also rather boring. Still a really fun place for dinner and some drinks.
