I have eaten here a couple times now. The food is pretty good. Most recently, I got the Nabeyaki Udon. It was a decent portion. The service that night wasn’t the best though. When the restaurant traffic picked up a bit, our waitress didn’t refill our drinks once. We had to flag down someone else to help us out. I think there could have been more floor coverage to best serve customers.

This will ALWAYS be my go to spot for sushi. I love their service, I love their food! I also meet up with friends here, take my family here, and order take out all the time. I literally go once a week for their sushi lunch special to buy 3 rolls for $ 9.95 with soup/salad. Such a good price for well made and delicious sushi. They even offer a military discount which just makes the price even better. you cant even find nasty grocery store sushi at that price point. I will always be a Kero fan and would recommend this restaurant to anyone I know!

Honestly the best sushi place in Virginia in comparison to West Coast states. Love their selections and combinations

Underwhelmed is an understatement. Their saving grace is that they were prompt with having my sushi ready in the time they said. The Spicy Tuna roll tasted off kind of like the fish they used swam in the wrong part of town. The volcano roll wasn’t that crunchy for something that’s supposed to be fried. It had that awkward soft crunch :(The atmosphere was super clean though so congrats to their broom and mop I guess :/

I’m visiting Virginia for the first time and I absolutely loved their rolls. I live in LA and I loved how delicious and comparable the sushi was to home. I’d highly recommend! Their party«boats» are also extremely delicious and offer a variety of rolls to choose from. Thank you!!!

Best sushi I’ve ever had. Hands down. Kero roll and Spicy California roll are my favorites. I’ve been to a lot of sushi places in my life and this is definitely my #1 choice for sushi.

Great gyosa, sushi and wait staff. We have eaten here more than a couple of times, I do like the volcano roll and the spicy tuna roll a lot. Very good.

Fantastic sushi. Great lunch specials or go for dinner. Either way you will get consistent, fresh, and delicious sushi. I especially love their spicy scallop roll. I have never tried their hot food but have always been impressed by all of their sushi rolls.

This was good sushi. I had the Kero Roll and I forget the other one. The Kero Roll was good. Sorry cannot remember other one but it was good too. My daughter had California Roll and she loved it. Oh did I mention she’s 11. She also had the chicken teriyaki which she liked also. Good service. Had hard time understanding lady waitress but gentleman waiter came and helped. Only reason I give it 4 stars is because I’ve had sushi that absolutely knocked my socks off and these did not. However they were good and I will go back.

I eat at Kero about thee times a week. Im addicted. Its amazing. I always order the kero roll, mango shrimp roll and the most amazing fried rice you have ever put in your mouth! A great appetizer is the tuna dumping. Has to be the best sushi on the peninsula!

We usually stay with our favorites… Which are so many because this place is awesome… But today, we ventured off the path and tried a new appetizer: Tropical Salmon and the verdict is… Drum roll… Amazing!!! Salmon sashimi with oranges and avocado. Turns out, that was what was missing in our lives!

On Friday, February 27, 2015, we decided to eat at Kero again. We’ve eaten here periodically for the last 2 years. Our service has depended on who the waitress was but the food was always good. We always are seated at the booths in front of the sushi chefs. It never fails that is where we are put. The last time we went one of the sushi chefs was coughing when we entered. He continued to cough for a little while then he left. Luckily he did not prepare my sushi. My spouse always has fried rice and miso soup; I have the vegetable sushi and miso soup. On this visit the sushi chef was coughing again. I kept hoping he wouldn’t be the one to prepare my sushi and he wasn’t. But different from the last time he just stayed and coughed the entire time we were there. Our waitress ignored us the entire time. When she did come to our table, she brought the wrong appetizer to my spouse, salad instead of miso soup. She didn’t accept it when I told her that wasn’t correct, however, she did check her order pad then acknowledged the mistake and replaced the salad with the miso soup. Even though we enjoy the food, we cannot justify eating where a sushi chef on several days has prepared food while coughing.

When we lived in Newport News, this was our favorite sushi restaurant. Since moving to the beach, we have not been able to find a sushi restaurant that even comes close to Kero’s. Each time we are in the area and are craving sushi, we always stop by to eat. We absolutely love the Kero roll which is spicy raw tuna, imitation crab, avocado, crunchy panko crumbs, and fish roe. The spicy California is also great. We’ve also tried their hot soups with sobe noodles and tempura shrimp as well as their sizzling teriyaki plates — also fantastic if you’re not a sushi fan. Service is great and atmosphere is comfortable. We love this place and high recommend visiting if you’re a sushi lover too.

The sushi is good. Really, really good. We have yet to be disappointed with any of the rolls that we ordered. The hot appetizers on the other hand are a whole other(disgusting) issue. We’ve tried the gyoza. Horrible. They were obviously frozen, and weren’t cooked properly. The bottoms were soft, the tops were dry and cruncy. If you’re extra hungry, just order an extra sushi roll.

Such a pleasant atmosphere. As your greeted as you arrive and escorted to your table. You hear the Japanese music playing and notice how very very clean the restaurant is as well as the set up of the restaurant. From the bar format to the tables, booths, and a small party room. The food is outstanding!!! You can’t go wrong with the Keros, Volcano, or the Spicy !!! Excellent authentic food !!!

This seems like a great place for lunch. I came in and was seated right away at the sushi bar that was completely empty at noon. There were still plenty of people in seats and getting takeout so it must be popular. The service was quick and friendly. I’m pretty easy to please when it’s lunch time because I want to get in and out as quick as possible. The waitress was out with my drink and miso soup in the first 3 minutes I had been there, so I didn’t mind waiting a little for the sushi to be prepared. I ended up getting the three roll lunch special, which is a steal at $ 9.95. Fresh Market has tuna rolls for $ 6.99 and you get 12 pieces, and when I’m in a real pinch I’ll go there or Trader Joe’s because I just don’t have time for the full experience. But this place has more than a handful of rolls on the lunch special. My usual is spicy yellowtail, eel and cucumber and tuna. The only thing that kept this from being a 5 star review was the BBQ eel and cucumber roll; the eel sauce basically drown the roll and made it start to fall apart as I was eating it. The spicy yellowtail and tuna were both excellent though and I appreciated the waitress getting more ginger for me. Overall a great experience. I’ll have to keep them in mind for future lunch hours.

Went recently with two friends. Like the décor — this would be a great date night place. Very quiet inside. Great service. They had no problem giving us a discount on each check(2 paid together, I paid separate). A lot of sushi places will say no because you’re at one table — I like the fact that they let me have the military discount and honored a mobile coupon discount for my friends. Shows they can sacrifice $ 3 and get repeat customers vs. being stingy and cheap and losing customers. I had the crab salad. It was yummy but a little dry. I would’ve liked to see a little mayo mixed in. The rolls I had were very yummy — I get a spanking because I forgot the names of my rolls and I will figure a way to fix this next time :-) But I ordered a mango shrimp roll which was delicious. My friends had the Kero roll and the volcano which looked great. Service again, was fantastic. My friends go there often for their date night — this is a great spot for a quiet, romantic date.
