Central Family Restaurant

I love Central Family, their Cream of Crab soup is amazing and their carrot cake is out of this world. Never a bad meal.

We’ve been to the York area a few times over the past few years and I’m happy we stumbled upon it back then. Each time we came here we’ve had friendly service and delicious food. My husband enjoys the steak Benedict, I enjoyed eggs Benedict, and the kids loved their pancakes. We’ve always left stuffed and happy.

Family and I had been just passing through and we decided to stop and get a bite. Damn good fried chicken that’ll make you want to smack your mama! If you are passing through York give this place a try!

Doesn’t look like much from the outside, but good customer service and food on the inside. Went with a bunch of friends and we all ordered various stuff — I got the asparagus omelet, delicious and fresh. Friends got other omelets, scrambled eggs, and French toast dishes. All pretty good, nice place for affordable breakfast.

An old school diner feel and look. Food was absolutely delicious and staff were attentive and kind. Honestly one of the best steaks I’ve ever had!

On Sunday ⁴⁄₂₉ we went for our version of brunch…1:00 pm, might be lunch to you but brunch to us. I noticed two things first off the menu indicates *after 11:00 am* above the breakfast offerings and the ‘specials’ don’t seem very {{special}}.
We asked our server about *after 11: am* and she said before 11:00 am the breakfact menu is larger and MUCH cheaper. HUH? I understand an abbreviated menu but people go out after church to eat and sometimes that means AFTER 11:00 am. I don’t like that… I feel like I have been getting raked over the omellete. **sigh**
Also…the ‘special’ prices were very high for York, I have no idea why I hadn’t noticed before (oh I know, because I usually get an over priced omellete) but the bulk of the prices were over 15.00 and dishes under 15.00 were *OUT*.
Make your specials truly special or at the very least prep more of the cheaper ones because THAT is what people want. Remember… you are serving people in York not Baltimore folks don’ make money to burn here.
Oh…ALSO, my son wanted the fried shrimp basket and the server informed us you were out of small shrimp just the jumbos were available. Really?
Last thought… your stuffed shrimp were WAY over priced (special) the fish store on market sells them for 1.75 a piece raw.
Can you tell I’m not happy? Yeah… not happy.

I cannot say enough about Central Family Restaurant. We stumbled across this gem during one of our road trips in Pennsylvania. From the 2^nd you walk in, you feel like it’s already home. The staff is friendly, the food is local, fresh and DELICIOUS and the owner, Karl, truly cares about his customer’s experiences. We continue to return to Central Family Restaurant every time we are remotely close to this area. We even had them cater our wedding — where everyone raved about the food. EAT HERE!!! Breakfast, lunch, dinner, catered events — everything. You will not be disappointed! PS the apple dumpling is amazing!

A great diner breakfast! More than anything, my group was impressed by the exceptional customer service by everyone assisting us. Lena was our wonderful server and she was attentive to each person’s order. We appreciated her accommodating our separate checks. In addition, the restaurant had us sample their apple cider, so good :)

Great place that the locals know well. Not being from the area, you may pass it up because of the area and outside look. It does get pretty busy, but the staff is usually fast and friendly. Breakfast is always great ! If you’re in town I’d give the place a visit.

We go to Central Family all the time and it never disappoints. They have have your standard diner fare (sandwiches, breakfast, burgers) but they also have a lot of great homemade and regional dishes on the daily specials menu! The prices and service can’t be beat!

service is always good even when its busy — which it is quite often. Not a fan of their ceasre salads at all, but everything else ive ever had has been great. Wonderful selection and their kids menu is reasonably priced.

Wer mal nach York, Pennsilvania, kommt, um zum Beispiel die Harley Davidson Final Assembly Plant zu besichtigen, sollte unbedingt seine nächste Mahlzeit im Central Family Restaurant geniesen.
Das Central ist ein typisch amerikanisches Family Restaurant und hat mit dem Fraß ala McKing oder BurgerDonalds nichts zu tun. Hier gibt es viel mehr bodenständige Küche aus den Vereinigten Staaten. Wer behauptet, dort gibt es keine eigene Küche, war noch nie dort oder hatte nicht den Mut, in eines der vielen Diners zu gehen. Schaut euch einfach mal die Gerichte an, die auf der Webpage aufgelistet sind. Da findet ihr z.B. Austernsandwiches. Zusätzlich gibt es noch wechselnde Gerichte.
Natürlich, es gibt auch Hamburger aber die sind sehr wohlschmeckend und üppig belegt. Daneben gibt es eine große Auswahl an Sandwiches und Subs. Sehr empfehlenswert sind auch die Steaks, insbesondere die sehr delikaten Büffelsteaks.
In der sehr großen und einsehbaren Küche werden die Speisen frisch zubereitet. Die Bedienungen sind sehr freundlich aber bestimmt. Nach dem Essen soll man zahlen und gehen. Noch auf ein Getränk sitzen bleiben wird nicht gerne gesehen. Warum? Die Bedienungen werden in den USA in der Regel fast nicht bezahlt sondern leben von den Trinkgeldern (10 – 15 Prozent sind üblich; weniger nur bei sehr schlechtem Service). Je öfter ein Tisch wechselt, desto mehr wird verdient. Zum trinken und reden geht man in Bars.
Das Central Family Restaurant wurde vor ein paar Jahren von der Lokalzeitung als sauberstes Restaurant von York ausgezeichnet. Hier kann man also wirklich beruhigt essen.
Spektakuläre Kuche bekommt man in keinem Family Restaurant oder Diner. Ich will hier trotzdem eine Lanze für die bodenständige amerikanische Küche brechen. Man kann hier durchaus gut und günstig essen, insbesondere, wenn man mit Kindern unterwegs ist.
