Strange. That’s the best way to describe the food and experience. The little place is located in a bizarre location. You walk up to the window and a guy looks at you. No greeting, hello how the heck are you and welcome to my Thai hut located in a place nobody really should be and thanks for driving through a zombie-infested neighborhood to get here. Order food. Window shuts. Stand in parking lot. Window opens. Guy hand you food. Window closes. Gee. Thanks. I have to add the obligatory, I’ve travelled extensively throughout all of Thailand for years and years. This food, not cheap, just tasted strange. In some cases, sickly sweet but not necessarily from sugar. Not like the food was spoiled or of poor quality, rather a very curious use of spice. Who am I to say. Perhaps this food is SO authentic that it was just completely new to me. All in all, none of us finished the food, which has to be a first.

Panang curry was excellent! Perfect amount of heat for me. Only reason I did not give 5 stars was wait time and the phone was busy when I called multiple times. I definitely be eating here again.

Pad thai and curry puffs are way too sweet. Massaman curry didn’t taste right although it was better. Tom kha was ok.

Very fresh food. Tasty. Pad Thai is a little bit sweet for my liking but will order again because so fresh and apps were great!

I love the idea of this place and I wanted to love it. We got green curry with chicken, pad thai w/veggies, and the crispy ribs. I loved the ribs. Little nuggets with great salt and flavor. Not a lot of meat, but really tasty. The curry was very good. The eggplant was firm, but the chicken was a little chewy and bland. The pad thai was a huge disappointment. It was so sweet – like it was cooked with syrup. I’m sure some cook it with some amount of sugar, but this was inedible. I will go back again and try other dishes, but for a Thai place to fail on the pad thai is not a good sign…

Good Thai food. I really enjoy the curry pineapple chicken. Tons of flavor with just the right amount of heat. I also like their spring rolls. Very crispy and not greasy.

My bf and I have ordered twice from The Thai Shack so far and we are already huge fans! The food is delicious, fresh and authentic. We live about 2 miles away and they delivered our first order about 25⁄30 mins after calling– incredible timing! Even the pizzeria down the street takes an hour to deliver. We’ve tried the shrimp & chicken Pad Thai, chicken with red curry and fried rice. Everything we ate was amazing and fed us for at least two days. The portions are large & prices are very reasonable for the amount of food. The red curry is sooo deliciously spicy and loaded with chicken, eggplant, peppers, carrots, bamboo shoots, zucchini and more! My bf loved his Pad Thai as well, citing it as the best he’s eaten yet. We enjoyed their fried rice, but now order it without the extra onions and odd vegetables. Don’t get me wrong, I love vegetables, but felt there were too many large onion pieces, dandelion greens, and other veggies that didn’t exactly belong in fried rice. Overall, The Thai Shack is a great place to grab a delicious & filling meal! They honor any special requests and prepare your meal with precision and speed. Don’t let the appearance of this little shack scare you, the food definitely does not disappoint!

Can’t say I’ve ever been to Thailand. But I love this place. It’s called a shack for a reason, it is a shack on the side of a road. From what I understand it is a family operation. When I was there I asked the very Irish looking gentleman what the deal was. His wife is from Thailand and does the cooking, he takes the orders. The food was spicy and good. If you ask them to «make it hot» be ready for some sweat on your brow. I go out of my way to eat at this place. Be warned, there is no inside seating.

I have never liked a restaurant enough to take time out of my day to write a review, but this place deserves it! I have had Thai food from restaurants all over the country on my travels and this is by far the best I have experienced! If you are in the area it definitely is worth the trip. I ordered the Fried Shrimp Rolls and Chicken Pad Thai and I was not disappointed. The food is fresh and expertly cooked. I have not traveled to Thailand, but it seems very authentic, in the best sense of the word, compared to other restaurants I’ve tried. This place is easy to miss as it is a small takeout window. however, it has prime placement right across from the entrance to Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway. There is no seating and they do not accept credit cards to my knowledge, but do not let that stop you. The prices are on-par with other similar eateries in Westchester but the portions are substantial. The owners are very friendly and I only waited 10 minutes for my order. I am very happy I decided to stop and will definitely be back again!

Having just returned from 17 days in Thailand, and passing the Thai Shack, I stopped to check it out! Still use to 92 degrees in Thailand, I had a rude awakening having to stand out side in the winter for what felt like FOREVER. MYPADTHAI, finally, a large dish for $ 10 dollars. Opening my dish were lots of vegetables that do not go in Pad Thai Also no spice(heat) and not very flavor full. HEYOWNERS, HOWABOUTONEOFTHOSEOUTDOORHEATERSSO I DONTHAVEFREEZEMYYOUKNOWWHAT, off…

Granted food is great and all but the owner is a real dick! Here goes my tale. I was staying over at the Hyatt place hotel nearby and called to order food from here. Unfortunately they accepted cash only. I just had my card and no ATM, so a friend gave me exact amount for the food. The delivery guy/owner shows up with my food. I just had the amount and $ 0.50 extra which I gave him. Today I called to order food and my order was taken. After waiting 30mins, I called for status update on the food and was told my order was cancelled I was hung up on. I called back and was told that they cancelled because of the low tip from the night before and was yelled on not to call back again. I drove to the Thai shack myself pretending to be someone else, ordered my food once it was ready I took my food, gave him a $ 22 tip on an $ 18 order, then told him who I was. He tried to give me the money back but I told him to keep the money and left. I won’t be ordering from here again but I hope I made my point. If you feel this jerk deserves your money go ahead and order but folks like this have no business working in the food business. Happy new year!

Outstanding, Authentic Thai Food. I’ve passed by The Thai Shack numerous times and never even noticed it. When I finally connected the dots, I went over there. This is a very small place… Literally a shack! It’s walk-up window service only with a few outdoor tables I guess when weather is permitting. But you’re not here for the ambiance… you’re here because you have an insatiable craving for authentic Thai, right? Well, you will not be disappointed. I ordered the Thai Green Curry Chicken which has Thai Eggplant. red pepper, sweet basil and coconut milk. It was absolutely delicious and perfectly spicy as good Green curry is. Highly recommended. If you want an extra kick of heat, you must ask for the hot sauce, ‘Prik Nam Pla’. Lastly, it’s Cash Only. (updated) Since I have now been here several times in the past two months, I am adding that the Chicken Pad Ka Prao dish is probably my favorite so far. It’s literally enough for 2 peoples and the flavor is the real deal. Again, if you like the kick of heat, be sure and ask for Prik Nam Pla which goes perfectly with this dish.(In moderation! You will sweat)

Authentic. Had the Shrimp Pad See Ew, Shrimp Pad Ka Pow, Chicken Pad Thai, and Beef Green Curry. Pad Ka Pow was a little too spicy for me, but someone who likes a good kick would enjoy it. Loved the Pad See Ew. The Pad Thai and Curry were also delicious. Each entrée was around $ 12. Same quality and price you would get at a sit-down restaurant, but with the convenience to take it all home and enjoy it comfortably.

This place is actually awesome. You should however know what this is before showing up. This is literally a shack that sells Thai food at the window. There are just two plastic bales outside where you can sit but they’re kind of dirty and this place is really better for take-out. The prices are a bit high for a place that is literally a shack but very reasonable given the food quality. It’s about $ 10/plate for entrees. The portions are huge and can easily be leftovers for the next day. We had the curry puffs(absolutely, absolutely delicious), panang chicken curry(extremely good), and the chicken pad Thai(mediocre). We also had the Thai iced tea(above average). The chicken meat quality was excellent and the vegetable selection very good. The food was made quickly but tasted fresh and was served almost boiling so certainly will stay hot even if it’s cold outside and you have to drive home. Parking here is not the easiest. There’s a lot next door that you can kind of get away with parking at for a short period of time. There’s some street parking on the street approaching the restaurant with a meter. Overall, if it’s what you are looking for, very highly recommend.

This is my second visit to The Thai Shack! The food is really good. I ordered the Pad see ew with chicken and YUM! I also ordered the chicken satay which is so flavorful. The place is simple but the food is quite good. The Thai Ice Tea was so good I ordered 2. It’s cash only which is a pain, but again so worth it.

This review is for the delivery service/food we ordered! I don’t know if they are usually this busy on a Tuesday night, but our food took about an hour to get to us. Most deliveries average around 30 – 45 minutes, so Thai Shack takes quite a bit longer than average. Just something to keep in mind if you are REALLY hungry… you might not want to wait. The food is spicy by default, so if you aren’t a fan of spices(like my friend’s husband), you will want to make very clear that you do NOT want any sort of spice in your food. Regardless, I thought the food was pretty fantastic. I got the pad thai(of course.) and tried a bit of my friend’s green curry. The portions are gargantuan and much more reasonably priced than other Thai delivery places in the area. I really liked the large assortment of vegetables in their pad thai(broccoli, cauliflower, etc.) that isn’t in a typical pad thai, but definitely made me feel a little less guilty about eating as much of it as I did. The pad thai was the least spicy of everything we ordered(including the green curry, drunken man noodles, and pad kee mow).so if your tastebuds are as weak as mine… but you’d still like a little kick, have no fear! The green curry was also very good. The ingredients are hearty, and you can tell that they don’t try to cheat you of a filling meal by giving you only a few pieces of meat or vegetables in a bowl of curry. If anything, I’d say the dish was about 60−70% ingredients and 30−40% curry. They don’t have an online ordering system, but it was pretty easy to call in to order. :)

Warning: Quite possibly the worst review I am writing out of my thousand ++ reviews. Scary stuff. Read at your own risk. Had high hopes for this little take-out shack only found from all the glowing reviews here. Prices were higher than one would think. Worst red chicken curry ever had in my life. Strange taste. Pretty much inedible. I have never not finished an Asian meal in my life and this dish I couldn’t finish for the life of me. So loaded with much-too-heavy spice/chili pepper and oil that all the spice killed my stomach. Fiancé can’t think of his dish still to this day. ¾ of the takeout dish was oil — like rancid oil and about 2 pieces of chicken. Definitely the worst meal ever been served. With the spring rolls(which were decent), the bill came to way too much. I really thought it should have been returned but fiancé is too nice or something and doesn’t like doing that. Never thought I’d have Thai food I didn’t like. Oh well, first time for everything!

Complete hole in the wall, nearly unrecognizable as you drive by. It literally is a shack, well a caravan perhaps, which in any case is cranking out some delicious Thai dishes 7 days a week. So far we’ve tried a bunch of apps, 3 of their curries and the Pad Thai. Everything has been sensational, and the value is outstanding for the big portions you get. The one big downside is that parking is a bit of a hassle and there are only a few outside seats. But if you don’t mind eating like a slob in your car, or taking it to go, you will be in for a treat. Dare I say… best Thai food in Westchester? Five big stars.
