Was here Tuesday nite. From out of town so I got a recommendation from folks at Walgreens nearby. I was greeted & seated right away. Pleasant décor. Hugely extensive menu. Decided to stick with breakfast choice since it was 10:30 pm. Since its Irish area I did the Irish breakfast. Huge disappointment. The only thing truly edible were my eggs & English muffin. I did eat 1 of irish«bangers» Had a strange look but I was too hungry to care. Had been to wake of college friend’s Father. Table across from me had a plate of what appeared to be pickles etc. It was actually stuffed grape leaves with other garnish. **** I asked my server for one.(wrong assumption it was free with meal, as I figured from Greek diner) *** My server never verified I was ordering an appetizer plate of grape leaves. I tried one and it was bitter so I didn’t eat any of them. Enter sticker shock when I go to pay. The proprietor didn’t seem approachable so I didn’t say anything. Had a long day, drove from Central NY to Yonkers to pay respects to Mr. Murphy. Didn’t expect to be robbed in a legit diner. Grr.

I asked for a grilled chicken Caesar salad I asked if the chicken could be cooked well done when the waiter brought me the salad the chicken wasn’t cooked I never send nothing back I told the waiter that it was uncooked he just packed it for me and gave me a bill… I think he was waiting for the chicken to fly out of my dish that’s how uncooked it was, Never going back the raceway is the best diner

You are greeted by an energetic and friendly young man, whom I believe is the owner or manager. We are usually sat quicjly, even when they are busy. I have come to eat here many times, for different meals and the food is always amazing. I have tried their omelettes which are satisfying and their paninis which are always crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, just the way they should be. I have yet to try their desserts, although they look very tempting. Everytime we have been here our waiters are charismatic and personable, especially a young man who enjoys wrestling and is very professional and polite. There is also an older gentleman who starts off very serious but then will make a joke or two as the time passes. They make our meal even more enjoyable. The reason for not giving a five star review today, even though I have stated nothing but positive remarks? Well, today my fiancé and I sat for thirty minutes eating our meal with no refill to our drink. I understand they are busy and have other customers but that is not an acceptable reason to neglect other returning –paying –loyal customers. They have many buss boys cleaning the tables and they are very polite. Ultimately we had to flag down our waitor and ask for something to drink, in which he designated the responsibility of bring our drink to a buss boy who apologized for his lack of attention to our table. I will be returning to eat at this dinner when I am in the area but will specifically as to NOT have this waitor.

Food was very quick and fresh and the service was awesome and on top of everything. Would defiantly go back when I’m in the area again.

I found the food at the Argonaut to be sub par. There are two other diners within a ½ mile on the same street. Pick one of the others. I got chicken with onions and peppers on a pita with cheese and honey mustard. The onions were only half cooked. came wit terrible fries. And the price! Paid close to $ 20. Never going there again. Claremont is much better.

Been going to these place for years until recently, I’ve had enough of it. The lack of service, short cuts trying saving a penny. You try to eat in and it’s a 45 wait at times and when you order out they forget things and when you call they tell you well give you credit that you never see. Cold food, no utensils, no napkins like your a animal, I’m done with this place.

These people are so petty. I ordered the Tex mex roll which is deep fried. I asked them to not fry it. Basically I asked them to do less to it. They charged me 35 cents to not fry it. There food is good. But they always do petty things. If you get pick up they’ll charge you for each container and purposely use more containers.

Classic diner. Not bad but not great either. We ate here once after moving into the area but I think I prefer my home cooked brunches. It’s a decent option when you can’t cook though and you want to order delivery since they have a fairly expansive menu.

My first experience at this diner. I’ll start with the coffee because I love a good cup of diner coffee. I mean, who doesn’t? Meh… Not the best coffee I’ve ever had but it was drinkable. My main course was the spinach pie with the Greek salad. Very good, quite tasty! My boyfriend had the BLT with fries. I stole a few fries & they were really good! Overall, pretty decent. Our server was interesting. Can’t complain. He seemed to be working almost the entire floor by himself. I’ve experienced real crappy service at other establishments that were not half as busy, so hat’s off to him for checking back a few times & not forgetting us! I don’t know if this place would be my first choice but I probably would give it another try sometime in the future.

Walked in looking for some late night food and this was the only place open 24⁄7. One waiter came and sat us down. Asked for water they filled it up and did come around for refills. When the waiter first came to take our orders we weren’t ready so we told him to give us a minute. That minute turned into about 8 to 10. After we ordered the food the waiter didn’t come around much and we were practically the only ones there aside from a few others given how late it was(about 4 am) and there were a group of waiters hanging out and didn’t help. Our food came out pretty quick and once I tasted my burger I knew why. Burger was frozen not fresh just like your typical frozen burger. I’d be nice to say it was decent but I’d be lying it was just ok. Onion rings were nothing special would prefer burger kings burgers and onion rings. I did finish it all, but the alcohol I had previously had helped with that. The guy at the register was pretty rude and doesn’t have great math skills. Might come again if this is the last option but will probably choose McDonald’s.

I have been going to this diner for years, tried many of there dishes! But unfortunately they have fell down hill! The food is sometimes bland, the tables and utensils are always dirty(as seen in previous posts). Always hate sitting in booths where there are crumbs all over the seat! Thanks love having crumbs on my butt! … ALSO! Now they have all these little hidden fees! They charge you for anything extra, well technically not extra… I ordered a sandwich last time I was there and the sandwich had honey mustard ONIT, so I asked if they could put it on the side rather than on since I did not want my sandwich drenched, and they charged me an extra 1.00 $ FORWHAT? If it is already in the sandwich then what is the difference?! The older woman at the front can be a real b***h sometimes! Doesn’t know how to say hi or thank you! Which makes a person not want to come back! Also, do not order take out from this place cause they will charge you for every CONTAINER that is in your order! YESTHEYCHARGEFOR A CONTAINER! And pretty steep! We had to pay 7 $ one on order cause we had 3 sandwiches! This place is truly ridiculous, and does not care about their customers! Just give them all your money and that will suit them until the next guest gives up all their money! Go to raceway diner down the street, you get more for your money, you dont get ripped off and the food is good!

Have been coming here for years and have always found the food to be decent, but tonight was the worst meal we ever had. Ordered the mussels and they tasted like rubber covered in dirt and ordered the prime rib which couldn’t even cut a with knife. Complained politely to both owner and manager and both refused to do anything about it making us feel like we were dead beat diners, showing us that money severely overrides customer satisfaction. We will never return, as their treatment was worse than the quality of the food. If could give zero stars I would.

I wouldn’t return. I find the place a bit dirty, as my biggest pet peeve is having to sit in a booth with dirty walls and old food under my feet. –_– Service takes FOREVER! And they aren’t very friendly. The food is mediocre at best. Nothing special, nothing you can’t get at any other diner in yonkers.

Definitely below average diner food. They literally charge you for every extra little thing you order. They even charge you for the containers when you order«to go». No wonder they filed for bankruptcy recently, I wish they would close already and a 5 guys burger would open up there instead, lol

The restaurant was that of a stereotypical diner. They have quite the variety of breakfast. An array of your classic dishes and a variety within. So, needless to say you have plenty to choose from. The service wasn’t great. One of the ways I judge service is by how often or quickly they refill. There was only one coffee refill offered and way too early on after just getting it. Literally about 3 minutes after. There isn’t a person I know that can drink an extremely hot cup of coffee that fast or willing without burning your mouth. As for the other drinks, no refills what so ever to include water. I ordered a version of Eggs Benedict. The version I ordered was with Turkey Bacon which is what I prefer. The tomato slices on the eggs Benedict for me is definitely a first. I can’t say I’m fond of it so much.

A Yonkers staple and top notch diner! I always have a good meal here. The staff have always been very friendly to me and are very courteous. Some favorites are the omelettes, their salads, wraps, and Gyro platter. They have a big enough menu where they can accommodate all kinds of tastes and dietary requirements. I have never had an issue getting a menu item to order because I cannot eat a certain ingredient. I’m shocked when I read certain reviews saying that the staff is discourteous because I have never had that issue. In fact, quite the opposite. I moved to Mount Vernon, and they still will deliver to me. Now that is service!

As far as Yonkers Avenue diners go, this one is currently the best. And yes, this IS for a diner — so there’s only so much I can write about a diner, because most of them are the same. I want to give it 5 stars to balance some of the unfair reviews, but I’m being honest with the 4. It’s a diner after all. Been coming here on and off for several years — before and after the renovation. There was a time where I gave up and went to the Clairmont instead — but they have started to slack in some ways and I would never demean myself to go to the horrid Raceway Diner, so I started coming back here more and more and noticed a difference. This has become my local diner of choice. I’ve read some of the negative reviews on here and I can only say that none of that has ever happened to me. I’ve both dined inside and ordered take out(pick up, not delivery)…for many years and I’ve never had any issues aside from the water at one point tasting like bleach. For the take out, I’d call in and there was no issues with anyone taking my orders. Once in a while, someone with a heavier accent picks up and is at times hard to understand, but no problems. My orders have always been correct and in the case of burgers, always at the right temperature. I’ve come in and was greeted and treated just fine by the people at the counters and even greeted by passing waiters. Everyone has always been friendly. At times they’re generous with the condiments from pickles to coleslaw and ketchup packets. Sometimes they’re a little stingy with it, but it’s more or less whomever is working at that point. It’s like that most places. If they do charge for the containers, they surely wouldn’t be the first and only place to do so. Not at all an issue, as I expect it and unless they overcharge for a tin, I have no problems with it. And unlike other diners, I’m just glad my food doesn’t come soggy(burger buns) like other diners have done to me(*coughClairmontcough*) when I get home. For eating in, also no issues. Waiters/waitresses have always been nice to us and food comes out as expected. I’ve been here both mid day and late night and no complaints from either end. As mentioned earlier, the water used to taste like there was 2 drops of bleach inside, but it hasn’t been that way lately. Food has always come at a timely and expected manner. Food is about what you’d expect from a diner. If you’re expecting an elegant meal or so, you shouldn’t be coming here. Diner food is meant to be as it is. I’ve had several different meals here from breakfast to burgers, to chicken, to grilled cheese — they all taste just fine and completely as expected. Again, it’s a diner. The reviewers who mentioned the honey mustard — yes, it IS very good. The fries are slightly unique and taste better than the other two diners less than a mile away do. Overall no issues with the food whether it was eat in or take out. Parking lot is ok. If you come here late at night, the street is a decent option since you don’t have to worry about meters after 7pm. Open 24 hours. So no issues for me with anything here. I’ll still be coming here and/or ordering from here. I’d recommend this place anytime.

Had a delicious breakfast here this morning. I got out of work a bit early and since I do midnights and I’m not in Jersey, I had to look for a 24 hr diner. I know it’s crazy, in NY people think it’s appropriate to close a diner. Anyway, this place was open. I kind of remembered that from the cheesy commercials on News 12. The neon pulls you into the smaller than I would have thought parking lot. They have a bit more parking in the rear than it first looks though. I was able to choose my seat, since there was about 4 patrons. I opted for a Mexican frittata. It had salsa, cheese, chorizo and avocado. It was very good too. The plate was quite big and very filling. It also came with hash browns. The hash browns here are the cake style, much like McDonalds. So yeah, they were yummy. I’ll definitely be going back to this place. Clean, good service and delicious food.

Just went in now and asked if I could order a bacon egg cheese sandwich. She screamed, «No very busy kitchen. Goodbye now!» Bitch with an attitude will never get my business. Ever. She was also screaming at other customers in the area. This was the short middle-aged wrinkled bitch behind the counter, by the way.
