Absolutely without question the freshest authentic Mexican food for the lowest price in the valley!!! Everything was prepared to order and even the rice and beans were a flavor sensation. For a local hole in the wall place in an upscale neighborhood. u wont find anything that compares. The 3 taco special with a drink plate for $ 6.99 is really hard to beat. If you are looking for a really authentic home cooked meal, at an honest low price quickly, this is the place. My wife is from Mexico, so believe me SHEKNOWS the difference! I have one word for this place. WOW!

Miserable place. Worst tacos ever, tasteless and undercooked. Noisy, me and the family sat at a table eating and they started to vacuum the carpets around us. Incredibly rude and noisy, stay away.

I grew up in the west valley and have been coming here to eat since I was in high school. The atmosphere kind of sucks. It’s in a shitty little strip mall, the inside isn’t very nice, and parking is terrible. That aside, the food is great. I’ve taken a lot of friends here who were visiting from out of town and haven’t ever had any complaints. They have a carne asade plate that I get pretty much every time for $ 9.It is definitely a good price. The only downside is that prices have been creeping up. Although I’m not really sure that it is their fault. If you want somewhere that is a hole in the wall but great Mexican food, this is your place. There are few places in the area with better food.

Great taco place. So yummy and the 3 taco special with a drink is a good price. Also unlimited chips and sauces

This spot is absolutely great. Multiple reasons why. A few being the price of the items are not expensive, the tacos especially the carne asada is extremely delicious, and the horchata is a must . This place is much better than going to fast food and is definitely recommended if you are nearby. One of the cool parts about this spot to is they offer free chips and a salsa bar . You won’t go wrong with the TAP

This place is a total pass! The salsa is about the worse I’ve had in a long while. When you order something they either mix up the order or they don’t have it even though I paid for it. I wish I could just get my money back and leave. Don’t make the same mistake that I made!!!

I came to try it because of the starts but it was the worst Mexican food I’ve had in my entire life. #Yuck #WorstCooksInAmerica. I rather go across the street and eat Baja Fresh. Also, the parking sucks here.

Our first time here tonight and we were not one bit disappointed. As soon as you walk in, you’re surrounded by décor that makes you feel like you’ve just set foot into Mexico. We were quickly greeted by the girl at the front counter and I ordered #5(2 taco special plate, one w/al pastor and the other carne asada). Hubby ordered taquitos and a burrito supreme, which is called a super burrito where we come from. Anyways! Everything was yums. The meat was deliciously flavored and the red sauce was on point. The refried beans and rice was also really good. Will definitely be back soon!

Tried a lot of highly rated taco spots and El Tap still gets the job done. Décor and layout is a bit dated and unconventional.

Amazing salsa(but if u want more u have to ask for it) the girls that take ur order could smile more in my opinion. Street tacos and burritos are good. Tamarindo always refreshing.

NEVERAGAIN! I had my baby shower on April 9th. About a month or so before, I recommended to my sister to have El Tapatio for tacos and margaritas. I had used them before for my sister in laws bridal shower and many of my friends had used them for various parties. Maria confirmed with my sister a few days before that the tacos and margaritas would be arriving at 12:30 pm to set up as my shower was starting at 1 pm. So on April 9th at approximately 12:50 pm… no sign of El Tapatio. My sister called them to see where they were and the man(whose name we did not get unfortunately) advised us that NEITHER the tacos or margaritas were on their way. He said that they thought the party was at 10PM because he read it wrong on the receipt they wrote. My sister then said ITWASCONFIRMEDWITHMARIA. It is now 12:58PM, guests are arriving downstairs and we are completely left empty handed. He then says he will call us right back. He calls back and says they will be there in 1 ½ to 2 hours. UNACCEPTABLE. I am 8 ½ months pregnant, have guests downstairs and am now freaking out as we have no alcohol and no food for this baby shower. I remind him that this is my baby shower and they can’t do this and he needs to get someone here asap. His response is to start cussing and telling us to come«Pick up our *BLEEPING* receipt and get our money back». Multiple calls back to him and what does this man do, cuss some more and hang up on us dozens of times. My sister eventually speaks to this awful man who says he will send out the tacos, but no margaritas. So now my husband and father in law have to run out and buy alcohol, which is not the end of the world but inconvenient. I run a family business and understand that things go wrong every once in awhile. However, whatever made this man think he could talk to a customer in the tone he did(screaming and yelling), and completely blow them off with a house filling up with guests is absolutely disgusting. How dare you speak or treat any woman in the way in which you did. Not only did El Tapatio lose our future business that day but they lost all the business of my guests. My guests were appauled when told what happened and for sure will be sharing this with their friends and family. Had they handled this situation professionally and respectfully and been any bit apologetic, I would not be writing this review. So I will make sure I share this story of anyone who even thinks of using your restaurant for catering in the future.

HIDDENGEM in a small strip mall. The food is equal to almost every Mexican restaurant I have been to, if not better. I will give it 4 stars for two reasons, one parking is horrible, don’t even try and park in the small lot, go around and park behind the donuts shop and just walk over. Second reason is the are not the nicest people in the world when it’s stress time. But i cannot ignore the food here, I always get takeout here, they do have inside seating but that is not for me at this place. They have always been busy when I go so there might be a wait to get food, so call ahead. Super Nachos are Amazing I cant even type out how much food is on that dish but, this nacho’s weighs at least two pounds. Tuns of chicken all over it with globs of salsa.(i will get a picture soon). It is $ 8.95 and well worth it. The other sure bet here is the quesadilla, its like a massive burrito. also about the same price of $ 8.95. The prices are good here if you order the bigger items, the smaller ones like single taco’s can add up your price tag kind of fast. So be careful. Enjoy!

I have been to this place a few times and have not been disappointed, I normally order for pick up and they always seem to be busy(which is awesome), I am crazy about hot sauce and this place has a great variety of them, I want to say at least 10 different sauces between made in house and bottled. They also throw in some chips with your order. Will definitely keep coming here for Tacos.

Good décor, ok service, ample parking. Supreme burrito was big. The refried beans were bland, the ratio of ingredients was unbalanced. I couldn’t taste the cheese. Carne Asada had a good feeling and meat taste but seemed not so fresh. The salsa was not as spicy as desired.

Beware of extra charges to your receipt!!! I got charged $ 8.07 for the 2 taco special(steak & pastor). I even asked the male cashier why I had a «misc. tax of $ 0.50» and whether I was overcharged. He said no. 2 days later(today), I called the restaurant & inquired about the charge for the 2 taco special plus tax. The woman who answered the phone said it should be $ 7.52 total only inclusive of tax. So why did the male cashier charge me an extra $ 0.50 on 2÷15÷2016 when I came in during lunch? As a result, I’m giving this place a 2-star rating. The tacos were good though. 4 stars for food!

First time trying this place and the Last time. The simple order we made of two asada burritos were wrong. After taking s few bites I noticed that the meat tastes as if it was sitting for hours. Worst quick Mexican place to get good.

Hole in the wall. Truly a hidden gem. Fast and friendly service. Affordable and competitive pricing. Delicious, flavorful food. Large seating area. Perfect for large or small families. They cater, my family has used them before and their food was a hit. Park behind the building if you want to save time… That may sound counterintuitive but, trust.

I’m all about while in the wall gems. Taqueria El Tapatio is one of them. Finding quality Mexican food in Southern California can be daunting because their are so many choices. As far as the Valley goes, Alberto’s and now Tapatio are my go to restaurants for quick and delicious Mexican food. I had a carne asana burrito and the super nachos while my wife had a taco. The taco is a street taco with meat, cilantro, onions and salsa. It was excellent. This place has what we you need, meat, fresh veggies and salsa, and tortillas for tacos and burritos. Everything as tasty. Just be forewarned about parking. There are very few spaces. We loved this place so much we are considering them to cater our next party.

You know I got to admit the food is great but the service is not good. I ordered for pick up and ordered beef fajiatas but got chicken taquitos… not even beef taquitos I’d understand that mix up and of course too late to reorder.

TLDR: Excellent Tacos, Horrible Service. If the tacos were not amazing, Taqueria El Tapatio would have received my one and only — one star rating. My girlfriend and I have now been here twice within one week because the Tacos Al Pastor are incredibly delicious. On top of that, the Horchata and chips with salsa were some of the best I have had in my many years as a resident of Los Angeles and recently, the San Fernando Valley(currently a student at CSUN). Unfortunately, the customer service we received on both visits was deplorable. The young woman who was working the cash register both times, clearly had a strong negative bias against my girlfriend and I. Our first visit compromised of us placing our order in English, and receiving responses in English, yet it was clear that we were labeled as «gringos» when compared to other customers. While most«Hispanic» customers were treated with sincerity and warmth, we received nothing but the opposite on two visits which were NOT busy whatsoever. On the 2nd visit, I decided to place my order separately from my girlfriend, and did so entirely in Spanish(I am a fluent Spanish speaker from Uruguay, yet do not«appear» to look Hispanic). Once again, the same young lady had very poor customer service, yet did not treat other customers in such a manner. I literally spoke a total of 5 or 6 sentences in Spanish, and she responded to each and every one in English, even though she was also a fluent speaker. As someone born and raised in a Spanish speaking country, I found this very offensive and rude.

Used this business to cater part of our engagement party last month. The team that showed up were on time(showed up a little early to set up) and set up quickly. They put out tacos(beef, chicken, pork) beans, rice and horchata in a quick manner, keeping all of my guests happy and their bellies full. They supplied paper plates and cups, which was very convenient. They require a $ 100 deposit and the remaining balance to paid day of event, they accept cash or credit card. My guests didn’t finish all the food, but the guys packed it all up and left it out for us to enjoy or put away for the night. They even left the cups and plates and remaining horchata. I would have given 5 stars but it was pretty difficult to communicate over the phone, I didn’t feel confident locking in the details over the phone so I made my way from Santa Clarita down to Woodland Hills just to solidify everything and have it in writing. The venue itself was bigger than the storefront looks, parking lot is tiny. I ordered one taco while I was there and it tasted good, same quality taste when they catered our event. It worked out great all in all and definitely recommend this business for catering. Thanks for making our party even better :)

Great food. Busy during lunch hours. I waited 30 minutes for my food and you aren’t even served. The prices of the food are good and the food is delicious. The parking lot is small and street parking is hard so be prepared for that setback

Great food! My brother has catered before from this place and I decided to do the same for my company holiday party. We had the food delivered as the winery we were in did not allow the live cooking(which tapatio offers and is great!), but delivery was timely and the guy set everything up for us. Excellent staff as he even left some bowls for us which I returned earlier this evening to the restaurant, as I am an honest guy! Tacos were great! Steak, chicken, pork, you name it all was great and folks were happy! Rice and beans are delicious as well. I have to say that there is an abundant amount of food they provide and for the $ 635 we paid(includes delivery) for 75 people, it comes out to less than $ 10 bucks a person for you math geniuses ;). I have had them make fresh stuff at a party as well and I totally recommend that. I eat out often and trust me, this is some of the best Mexican food you’re going to find.

They catered a party for my wife’s 50th Birthday, which we had in our backyard in the west SF Valley(West Hills). They prepared and cooked everything in the yard and brought their own portable serving table and grill. They served chicken and beef tacos with rice, beans, salsa, guacamole and of course chips. The food was excellent and our guests loved it! Price was very reasonable, about $ 10 a person(we had 50 people). We also had a full bar with margaritas and a bartender to serve drinks, which was arranged separately. Together this made for a wonderful party. We would use El Tapatio again and they were quite professional.

This review is for take out only… Ordered 2 burrito supremes, 1 carne asada and 1 al pastor. Got charged for 2 burrito supremes. Got home and neither burrito was labeled. Opened the burrito and to my surprise both were regular carne asada burritos! No cheese, no cream, no guac, nada. Thanks for ruining my lunch el tapatio!

The worst tortillas, salsa and tacos I’ve ever had. This is definitely NOT Mexican approved. My mother just said the only thing she liked was the Melon drink and Coke. Everything was under flavored and dry! The food barely had any color. This place has an authentic feel with food made for gringos. The service was fast but the girl with the colored hair at the front lacked emotion. I could barely hear the order and she mumbled half the time. I love the décor and the ambiance. I just took the chewy meat out of the tacos and ate it. I also found a long blonde hair at open salsa bar. No gracias!

I feel kind of bad giving el Tap a 3, because I do like a menu item. Unfortunately, that one item weren’t help the cause. El tap is a small Mexican hole in the wall located on Fallbrook & Victory. I have tasted various items from the menu. The issue with the restaurant is the quality of meat. The steak tends to be a dried up mush of the original meat. The chicken is not properly flavored or grilled. The shrimp doesn’t even look appealing. Many people state it’s authentic Mexican food but it isn’t. An authentic place would have a flavorful spice to each meat to match the hot salsa & counter the cheese & sour cream. Inside the restaurant feels a bit outdated. Randomly, the speaker system will blast music for a minute or two, basically ruining your dinning experience and conversation. The Salsa & chips are bleh at best. They resemble the same taste you would get out of a Mexican food truck, very generic and unoriginal. The service is alright but if your not Mexican, you may feel unwanted there. I would say this! If you want to eat something tasty with flavor, you must try the el pastor or spicy pork. Basically, the spicy pork is a juicy spiced meat, injected with oil butter and sauce. Despite the poor ingredients around the el pastor burrito, I still enjoy getting it. If you are looking for a quick generic Mexican meal, I guess go here. It isn’t expensive and will fill your stomach(probably would make you poop right after too). Hope my review was helpful.

The food here is pretty good. The things I don’t like are that they charge a fee to use plastic for payment and they don’t sell their horchata by the gallon lol. Their horchata is my favorite one that I have had so far. We enjoy their super nachos but everything we have tried has been delicious. They claim to have ceviche but they have never had it available when we asked.
