My husband and I have been taking our cars to Gary for about 15 years, and as our kids have come of age they take theirs to him too. He knows his stuff, he’s honest and fair! He doesn’t charge for looking over a car and giving his opinion, eg, that the work could wait for a few more months, or whether we should buy this used car we’re looking at, etc. I once told him I was considering buying an Audi, and he said «I’d love it if you bought an Audi! You’d give me lots of business.» Needless to say, I changed my mind. Thanks, Gary.

Two words: Honest Mechanic.
That should convince you to take your car to Wheat Ridge Auto Service. These guys are amazing and won’t try to rip you off. I have taken my car here for years and will go back whenever my car needs serviced.

My car developed an alternator issue the yesterday. I wanted to find a shop close by that got my Toyota in and taken care of. I found the shop’s number on Unilocal,called, Gary answered the phone and told me to bring it in and he would take care of it.
An hour after dropping it off, Gary calls me and tells me that the alternator was shot. Two hours after that he calls me back again saying that he found the true issue and that the labor would not change, but I needed another part.
Someone that is upfront and honest in this world? I read the review but did not believe it. Gary will be getting my business from here on out.

A friend told us about him. they have used him for along time.
Gary the owner is the most honest and best mechanic i have ever encountered.
He has done numerous repairs on our Toyota’s.
And, has never taken advantage of us.
I remember one time my break light was coming on. and my brakes were a little crunchy.
I went in there thinking Aww man, i going to need a break job. *sigh*
He comes out of the garage and say’s. You just needed brake fluid in there.
(I felt a little dumb. haha)
He filled it up and told me that later I will need to get new pads. but they are fine right now.
So i drove away. really thankful. He didn’t even charge me for the fluid! He rocks! :)

I am traveling to Nebraska and had car trouble. I found them on the internet and called and was able to get my car in the same day. It was making a noise by the wheel well. They put it up on the rack and it turned out just to be a piece of the plastic undercarriage. He didn’t even charge me! Gary was super nice and helpful. I highly recommend them!

Really, REALLY honest, up front shop. Will NEVER try to oversell you or gouge you. If something really needs doing, they will do it at a fair price, but they are also straightforward about «Hey, if this issue doesn’t bother you right now, it doesn’t bother us!» I can’t say enough good things about this business. They are always busy, and that’s really the measure of things, IMO.
I took my car to the dealership for a small recall problem, and came away with a laundry list of «problems» (oh, but of course, they were happy to offer high-​interest financing to me to help pay for all the repairs). I told them, «Thanks, but I have my own mechanic.»
The dealership told me that both of my radiator hoses needed replacing. I know I had a slow leak in there somewhere so I took it to Gary. Turns out, it was a loose clamp. Three turns of a screwdriver, problem solved. They could have replaced the hoses, that’s what I told them probably needed doing, but they would rather save me a little money now, and have a customer for life.
Which, they do!

During the cold snap my ’96 bronco wouldn’t start (for no real reason– it started up fine a few days prior). A friend referred me to Wheat Ridge Auto, so I had it towed there. They were super helpful, even though the truck started up just fine when it got there (of course) and they continued to test it throughout the next day without issue. Notably he tightened up a bolt in the shifter that had been loose for YEARS, and I had been told that it would require replacement parts that would cost quite a bit so I had decided it was not worth it. They tightened up the bolt free of charge and didn’t charge me for the look at the vehicle. I had gone into it expect to at least pay for the once over/​their time. I will absolutely be taking any of my vehicles there when they have issues in the future.

I’ve been going to Gary since I was a new driver, a teenager with an old 74 super beetle. Now as a grown woman with a family I still wouldn’t go anywhere else. Believe me, I made the mistake of trying, never again. I’d rather drive to Wheat Ridge, having moved away, then go to anyone else. He is honest and fair, and gets the job done quickly. It also doesn’t hurt that he looks like Harrison Ford ;)

This place is by far the best mechanics shop I have been too. I mostly do my own simple work but my truck wasn’t passing smog and just needed to get it taken care of. He knew exactly what he was talking about fixed my truck the same day and even went and smog it for me to make sure it was fixed. couldn’t ask for a better experience.

I had my alternator die on me after getting (what I thought) was too high of a price for replacement of the alternator and battery, I had the car towed to Wheat Ridge Auto Service. Bottom line, with towing and alternator replacement I saved $ 300 off the original bill from the first shop, and it turns out I didn’t need a battery either.

Honestly – I don’t know why these positive reviews are not «recommended». It’s December of 2013, and I can add almost 2 more years of good service by this shop to my history. Just today, a radiator hose blew up on me in the extremely freezing weather at 6:30 am. I was able to get a tow (AAA, YAY!) and promptly upon opening these folks got my car in, and it was fixed within an hour or so. Fair charges on parts and labor and quality work done. Nuff said.

We have taken our cars to Gary for many years and he has always done a great job on the repairs and at very reasonable prices. We have referred our friends, family, neighbors and anyone who asked about a good mechanic. If you have a problem, call them!

Love them. My family has gone to them since I started driving. I recently went in to get my Jeep checked on because it was stalling. I left it with them and recieved a call later stating that they found the problem. I was low on transmisson fluid they filled it and charged me 15.00. They are great they never try to over sell you on things you don’t need and as a woman who drives a big truck they don’t atomatically assum that I’m cluess. Big Plus.

First off… this place is awesome! While the office is rather dirty and almost gross looking because of the big Parrots… trust me when I say, this man is honest and knows what he is doing!!!
My timing belt skipped a tooth and the first mechanic (Sundance Automotive) I brought it to, (referred by AutoZone) told me that the car wasn’t worth fixing due to its current value. He said I would need a new engine installed and it would cost around $ 2k and that I should just donate the car to some organization.
My former employer from out of state did all the prior work on this vehicle and told me to explain to the mechanic that the car needed a Helli coil (sp?). I brought this up to the mechanic and he about freaked out on me! Told me to fly my old boss out and have HIM try to fix it ’cause that couldn’t be done! I told him I would have to think about donating the car or putting in a new engine.
Being a single mom and fairly new to the area I was terrified at the thought of not having my car. I asked a fellow coworker if she could recommend a mechanic for me. She told me about Wheat Ridge auto.
I called the mechanic and explained the situation. He said he couldn’t promise anything, but needed the car brought to him so he could take a look at it.
I had the car towed over to his shop and he had the car repaired within two days!!! AND he did the helli-​coil thing! It cost me $ 700 in repairs and almost a year later the car is still running strong!!! I will ONLY use Gary for my auto repairs now!
