So… Normally I will go to extreme with my ratings either extremely 5 stars to wanting to rate 0 stars. Going back to two years ago, I bought a 6 inches cake for a birthday costing less than 30 dollars since I did my own decorations having the Mickey Mouse collection toppings. Today I went back and I saw an Ariel Disney cake and I asked how much is it for that cake but 6 inches. An older woman replied it’s 130 dollars but we don’t have the mermaid. So I said okay so let’s say all I want is a white 6 inches cake and I have all the decorations on my own. She said it would be 130 dollars. My mouth dropped opened. I had to point at the smallest cake asked her again, you’re telling me this cake with no decorations will cost 130!!! She replied calmly yes… Then she proceeds to argue with me that it’s not the decorations that cost a lot but the cake itself. Unbelievable. I took my cake business somewhere for 20 bucks!!! Was she on crack? I know it wasn’t just because someone else was with me… Sigh… Be honest people. Not to mention they close in Sunday which they don’t keep updated on Unilocal for us Unilocalers busy people

This is my favorite place to get mixed berry cake. The cake is dense and moist, they kind of have the taste and texture of a pound cake. The cream filling with the fruits are fresh, not too sweet, and creamy. The buttercream that is used on the outside is not too sweet as well, which is very nice. The design is simple, but gorgeous. The owner is really nice and she tries her best to create the design according to what you request. The only negative remark I have about this place is the penmanship. That’s the reason why I decided not to have the writing on the cake this time. Aside from that, I really like the clean and elegant design of Givral’s cakes. 6′ is $ 30, 8′ $ 45($ 40 is decent pricing for 8′ in my opinion… that’s the reason why I opted out and got the 6′ instead. It was enough to feed 10 – 12 people). And again, 6′ may look small, but remember, the cake is pretty high about 5 inch I think. So a small slice go a long way.

I cannot thank Givral Bakery enough!!! I’m the host of a baby shower today and had placed an order for a cake 2 months in advance somewhere else and I had specifically asked if they could do it. Turns out, they can’t. What they made was so ugly I just couldn’t bring myself to go get it and show everyone the cake so I quickly called a bakery near the baby shower location and bam, Givral Bakery to the rescue. I got a simple 8″ cake that was cute AND good. I included a pic!

I have been getting cakes for every occasion here for years. You can’t go wrong with the mixed berries! The cake is so moist and the custard filling and berries inside taste like heaven. One advice it’d give is pre order your cakes in advance and avoid getting the already made cakes in the glass. I’ve done that once because we needed a cake last minute and it wasn’t the same. Also, this way you get to customize colors and design it the way you like! The lady who makes the cakes is pretty open to how you want to design your cake as far as colors for your cake, flowers, ribbons and minor texture designing on the cake. Highly recommended.

This is a small bakery located in the strip mall behind Thanh My restaurant. Their café au lait(café sua da) is quite good, even though they were all pre-made. Pâté chaud is good, but I prefer Gala Bakery on Brookhurst. I took off one star because they did not have the mixed berry cake by the slices. There is no way one person can eat a $ 25 cake :{ Hopefully the owner will sell his/her signature mixed berry cake by the slice soon.

My wedding cake was beyond amazing and really tasty. The mixed berries flavor is delicious! The cake turned out beautiful and was enjoyed by the guests :) If I need another cake for any occasion, I will be using Givral Bakery because they are efficient and easy to deal with.

Ordered my engagement cake here and they amazed me with the floral arrangement on the cake. Beautifully done! Will order more from them for our next occasions!

I’ve gone here for some last minute cakes. It is a perfectly respectable place to get cake even though they aren’t the most visually stunning. Nonetheless, the cakes are tasty so I think that is what matters most. The service is great and the workers there are very friendly and nice.

This place does not disappoint!!! Taste: 5 stars Service: 5 stars Presentation: 5 stars The cake is sooooo good here! Even my mom(whom complains about every cake being too sweet) thought it was good. I got my cake here twice. The first time was custom made for my sister’s birthday. I wanted something simple and nice. I showed the lady a picture of what I wanted and she did exactly what I wanted. The second time, I wanted a cake for Thanksgiving. Two days before Thanksgiving I called and she allowed me to place my order. I told her I just wanted a brown and white cake. Without showing her any pictures or explaining what I wanted, she went beyond my expectations. I love the lady who works here soooo much! She is so sweet, patient, and kind! I’ve only tried their mixed berries and mocha and they are both so yummy. Can’t wait to order my next cake again here!

I’ve ordered from here several times. Love that it’s near my house! One time was a customized cake with design for a baby shower and I was very satisfied! I ordered mixed berries and my family and boyfriend loves it so much! Givral definitely mastered their cake quality. It’s not too sweet, and super moist. I’m craving it just writing about it right now hehe… The only constructive criticism I have is for them to work on their writing font skills. I will be back to order more cakes for future special events!

I ordered at least 4 personalized cakes here in the last year. I find ideas online for baby showers I host for my god children’s bdays, and they always do a fantastic job delivering what I ask for. I always get the mix berry filling and everyone asks for the bakery. It’s never dry like other places and even though all the cakes I order are fondant the cake and berries always taste fresh and moist. They also have really good iced coffee too. There are cakes in the display for pickup day of, But I don’t know how much those cake cost. If you want the cake to be personalized with certain colors, cartoons, always order days ahead. The vietnamese lady there is nice and sweet, she will tell you what she is able to do and what she can’t.

I might have just found my go-to bakery! No more conceited service at «Final touch» :/ I did a Unilocal search on all the bakeries on the day of our event since I couldn’t get thru Final Touch and Givral bakery popped up! I first called to make sure they are opened. and to my surprise. they«picked up»!!! Not only that, they took in my last minute order and I was able to pick up my cakes 4hrs later! Sweet!!! The cakes turned out EXACTLY how I wanted! Sooo pretty and tasty! I ordered a 6“coffee flavor round cake for $ 28 and an 8″ mixed berries round cake for $ 38! Coffee flavor was good. but I’d prefer the mixed berries! I love the fact that they used fresh berries.(unlike whole food market. frozen berries). It’s not too sweet. just right! So satisfied… one happy customer ;) **however, I strongly think they should practice on the writing a lil more:/. Givral bakery located in the same plaza as Thanh My restaurant on Bolsa ave. It still surprises me how I did not discover this place until now! It is a small and clean bakery. As you enter the bakery, you’ll see a selection of drinks and desserts on your left and cake displays in front of you. The service is excellent! Staffs are friendly, helpful and accommodating!!! I highly recommend this bakery! Would definitely come back to order Bday cakes in the future! Or just their café sua da ;)

I ordered two customized cakes from here, both were done exactly how I wanted them. One of the cakes was a last minute order, no other bakeries were willing to take my order, but the lady here was okay with it. Came out perfect. The other cake I order had a sea shells theme, took them 5 days to make it and it came out just like how I wanted it. The mixed berries flavored is the only great flavor there though, there isn’t much of a selection.

I asked for a special order cake 3 days in advance and got EXACTLY what I was looking for! Not only did it look great but they even made it taste fabulous! Everyone was complimenting how beautiful the cake presented and tasted. Wonderful presentation for a wonderful friend! Thank Givral Bakery! Not that expensive really either when you take into consideration how much it means to present something so beautiful to someone you love. I encourage everyone looking for a great cake to come here. This is now my only place to get cakes! Cheers!

Ordered a Mickey cake from their catalog this morning and told her not to add the Mickey hat on the top since I have a cake topper already I’d like to use. The woman charged me $ 200. After I came home, I decided to look through the pictures other customers posted on the website. Another customer ordered the same cake with the Mickey hat and was charged $ 130. REALLY??? In addition, their birthday order form reads«birday cake» I should’ve known…

Their cakes look beautiful and every single Unilocal review rages on and on about the mixed berry cake. I ordered a cake 1 day before I needed it. Staff was super friendly and was willing to work with this crazy lady to get the cake to look exactly what she wanted it to look like. I ordered the 10 inch mixed berry cake and just asked for a simple white design with blue ribbon. I added my own decorations. The cake looked gorgeous, everyone was impressed with how it looked and kept taking photos. It’s what the cake tasted like… another story. The buttercream is not your typical soft buttercream. I’m not even sure what kind of buttercream it was, but it straight up tasted like hard butter mixed in with a little bit of sugar. It resembled fondant, but it just tasted gross. The inside was ok. The cake itself wasn’t too sweet, but it’s your typical vietnamese/asian yellow sponge cake. I expected it taste more like a fresh berries and cream with vanilla cake(like Portos or something), but nope. It’s that asian sponge cake I hate so much; sorry I am a cake snob; I bake and am pretty picky with my sweets. TLDR: 3 stars for being super accommodating and making a gorgeous cake, but definitely very lacking in taste. I guess it’s good if you enjoy that type of sponge-like cake and hard buttercream.

BLEEEEHGUYS!!! I bought one of their sampler cakes, since we had heard so much about their cake from someone who has attended a wedding that served Givral’s cake. We purchases a mini strawberry cake, a little three inch cake displayed alongside other other flavors, including mango and tiramisu. The strawberry filling was super artificial tasting and the cake itself wasn’t outstanding either! Terrible. I even bought some of their cigarette cookies and those were lackluster too. I don’t know how to resolve the great reviews with the terribleness that was in my mouth. What I am reading, however, is that it’s all about the mixed berry cake. That was not an option for purchase at the time. :(

4.5 stars. Givral’s signature MIXEDBERRY(MB) cake is one of the best cakes in town. Much different from the generic sponge-strawberry cake most Vietnamese bakeries have. We got our wedding cake from them almost a decade ago and most recently ordered a smaller cake. They are still going strong and SOLID. **MIXEDBERRYCAKE** –moist & dense cake with a hint of rum, which made the cake more fragrant. –strawberry, raspberry, blueberry in a light bavarian cream — perfect marriage of flavors. –butter cream frosting — not too rich. –Cake for about 15−20ppl=$ 35 –Square cake for about 25−30+ ppl = $ 45 DECOR: The décor on my wedding cake was decent. I wasn’t blown away. I went with a 5 tiered mixed berry cake decorated w/fresh roses & orchids. It was tall and a bit too narrow. Kinda skimped on the flowers. *Standard size cakes had cuter décor: 2 yrs ago I just let her do whatever and got a «present» like cake w/a bow. NICE. Last week, I ordered a sea shell cake. I was hoping for a sea green color for the frosting, but it was more bluish. SERVICE: Friendly and easy going baker. She speaks broken English; but she will get the gist of what you are trying to tell her. FYI: they also sell Vietnamese coffee, pâté chaud, palmiers and few other goodies. Plus, they have other cake flavors you may want to try if you do not like berries.
