There’s something about going to an Asian establishment and receiving good service; I guest it’s unexpected and such a contrast effect from all the other ones you’ve been in, but this place, even thought it’s small, gives good vibes and it’s quite cozy. The staff members are responsive to your requests and they all seem to have good relationships among themselves. Very refreshing to see. It’s clean. The food selection is huge. The gf had the pig blood porridge and I had the chow fun. Gf ended up stealing some of my chow fun because it was that good. They use the big fat noodles but the fried them lightly on the outside, to create that searing effect; so it’s crunchy on the outside but soft and very flavorful on the inside. Comes steaming hot with very tasty gravy sauce and seafood. I’m loving this place. Might come back here tonight for dinner.

I love this place :) food is always delicious and they are always very polite. I almost always get the bo luc lac and it’s the bomb. I have done takeout a few times and they are always pretty quick. Their mousse is delicious too!

Location is good and the restaurant/café is nice and fresh and clean. I am not sure if they speak English but I still got my order and the drinks and food are good

Say it clear first, the food wasn’t bad and actually the porridge was pretty good. The reason for this neutral score is because I couldn’t find the stronger reason to give a plus… On the other hand, the fried Chinese bread stick lowered the score.

This review is only for the macaroons. I walked in this place and saw their display case full of different types of these delicious bites of goodness and decided to buy a box. They are 1.25 each and if u buy 12, u get 1 free. My favorites are the coconut, coffee, green tea, whoopie pie red velvet, and passion fruit. After reading some of the reviews and seeing pix of their delicious food, I will definitely come back to try their menu items next time I’m in Little Saigon.

The place is much cleaner and nicer than before but the back is still dirty. If you need to go to the restroom, you will have to walk thru the kitchen and you will know what I mean. The staffs are much nicer than before. * Bot chien: 3⁄5 good but no pickled radish and carrots. They give pickled cabbage. Wrong for this dish. The sauce is too salty. It is still better than at Quang Trung and Cay Dua * Banh bao: 1⁄5 They tricked me by selling me those left-overs from the day before. I couldn’ eat them and had to toss them into the trash. * Mi hoanh thanh: 3⁄5 not that much special. Trieu Chau on First Street is better. * Banh bong lan la dua: 5⁄5 only place in OC that sells this kind of cake. * Ca phe sua da: 5⁄5 taste very good and price is also good. * Com Chien Duong Chau: 3⁄5 * Phở ap chao: 5⁄5

Three Words… MIBOKHO!!! So this restaurant is one of the OG’s and it’s been years since I’ve eaten here. This place was recently renovated and the dining area is extremely clean and«new» as they expanded. On to the food! If you’re a fan of bo kho, look no further. I’ve had my share at other restaurants and this one takes the cake. My face lights up with delight as I devour this bowl. The meat is so tender, and the tendon literally melts in your mouth. The soupy part of it was just the right consistency and was cooked at the peak of its flavor. I like how they already top the basil in the bowl. Less work for me. :) and the egg noodles had the perfect chewy bite to it. You must order the chau quay aka chinese fried donut and dunk it in the broth. Yum! Oh, and do not pass on the banh tieu. So fluffy and has this vanilla-ish aroma to it. Not greasy at all. All in all, this little piggy was a happy full one!

Review is for the chao ga(aka chicken rice porridge). Efficient in prep, hotness, and taste. The food was worth the price ESPESH if you’re trying to get food into a mouth that just had wisdom teeth removal and be in need of somfin hot, tasty, and affordable while maintaining oral safety post semi-surgery. If in ZEH area I shalt go hither for my to go chao needs. Thanks bruhs

I was in the neighborhood this past weekend on some life insurance stuff I gotta handle so I figured why not. I came here too often back in my younger childhood days. My folks would get the chao here and I remember falling in love with the chao bo because of its great texture and delicious flavor. So now whenever I’m craving chao I would hit this joint, which isn’t too often actually. The only other thing I would get from here, food wise is the bot chien. I really like bot chien but its quite unhealthy for you. Still I get it because its actually pretty good here. Its not too crispy but not too soggy either. Just the right amount of texture. The coffee is nice here. I get the viet coffee to usually bring to my grandpas grave sight. The pastry part I rarely get. My folks tell me the banh bong lan here is really good. Probably the best they ever had!!! I guess I’ll take their word for it, I personally don’t like banh bong lan at all. They do have cakes here and we use to get cake here all the time before the Van’s bakery opened up near our house. Overall its a nice place for Viet breakfast type stuff. Coffee, chao, pastries, what more is there not to like. The prices are reasonable and the food is pretty good. Its just the drive here sucks mainly because of the horrible drivers.

This restaurant is a permanent fixture in my childhood. When I was really sick, my parents would get me chicken congee from here. Heck, even when I’m not sick, I’ll pick up congee. It’s that delicious. It used to be pretty old, but they renovated sometime in the past couple years. It’s newer, the workers have changed, and they have different baked goods now, but the food is still the same. Coming here is nostalgic for me. They used to have plenty of baos, breads, and other baked goods on display. Now, they have a huge refrigerated display with more tiny cakes and macaroons than anything. I’m sure people miss all the baked goods. You should also try the bo luc lac here. It’s pretty flavorful. The meat is tender. They make the red fried rice, but that’s a little too oily for me.

Duh — it’s a bakery?! I’ve never had any cakes, macaroons or pastries here before, but they seem appetizing. This is the place when I need a Vietnamese style carb breakfast: bot chien(fried rice cake with eggs), unfortunately just simple carbohydrates, not the complex/good ones. It’s kind of like a hash-browns omelet: starch dough formed into nugget of rice cakes that are coated with egg batter and garnished with cilantro and sliced green onions. Crispy on the outside, but smooth and creamy on the inside. They serve it with their tweaked soy sauce which is pretty mellow, not very intense, but just slightly sweet, sour and salty — evenly balanced. The service is quick and straightforward, also offers additional soy sauce whenever I have to-go leftovers. Clearly, I ought to try other dishes here.

The service here is pretty descent but the food is gross… I ordered Hu Tieu Bo Kho the stock was too thick. My mom ordered the Bo Luc Lac with Noodles and it was okay I wouldn’t it by myself cause it’s really blend. In addition my dad ordered the Hu Tieu Xao Hai San and it was okay too sweet… Not to mention there was hair in my food!!!

I love the food, hate the service. They have so many assorted cakes, macarons and drinks. I ordered the pandan milk tea, Vietnamese coffee and a few baked goods to go. Our server was rude and was acting like we took forever to order and pay. I hate feeling rushed when I’m browsing the food items. I couldn’t enjoy a thing and took my food outside. The pandan milk tea is tasty and sweet. The coffee and pastries were ok.

When it’s chilly and rainy out and you’re feeling a bit«under the weather» — Vietnamese rice porridge(chao) is probably one of the best comfort foods you can get in the area. Chao is as warm and comforting as American«chicken noodle soup». It is easy to eat, easy to garnish with a variety of different meat options and filling. I’ll typically phone in my order and pick up rather than eat inside, although I definitely like their renovations as there is a lot more space to eat vs. how the interior used to look like when they first opened(a few picnic tables and plastic chairs). My favorite to order here is the Chao Bo Bam + Century Egg(Beef rice porridge). I always ask for extra ginger since it helps clear up the sinuses/nasal passages. Since I typically come in the evening, there isn’t anymore fresh chinese doughnuts — but if you have a chance, definitely order some to dip in your porridge. Parking is a nightmare as usual(as it is Little Saigon) — but go at night near closing time and there is plenty of parking. Cash only — I believe they take CC as well but with a hefty minimum($ 20 or something like that — so mostly for their cake orders). Prices here are reasonable and have not increased much due to inflation.

I’m not a fan of this place. My friend’s fiancé apparently loves this place because of their rice cakes with eggs and porridge. I tried their rice cakes with eggs and it was bland with the sauce. I ordered their house special fried rice since my other friends had ordered the house special noodles. Their house special fried rice was terrible. It just tasted like the rice was scrapped off a burnt pan just like when I cook fried rice for myself LOL. The veggies tasted a bit soggy like they were from a frozen bag. I think I could do a better job cooking the fried rice. The noodles were okay. I didn’t know there was a restaurant inside this bakery because the sign outside just says Kang Lac Bakery. Parking can be bad but for some odd reason there was a lot of empty spots. Not sure if I will return given how bad my entrée was. I had to pour soy sauce into my dish to hide the burnt flavor.

My sister and I came here for brunch and we thought the food was okay. I do like that you can come here if you’re craving a pastry/dessert or if you want both pastry/dessert and Vietnamese food at the same time. They offer a wide selection of different options in their bakery section such as: Ham & Cheese, BBQ Pork Bun, Pork Bun, Macaroons, Che, etc) The customer service here is spectacular for a Vietnamese restaurant. We were immediately helped the minute we walked through the door. The waiter helped us pick what to order and provided us with our drinks right away. The food came out quickly too!

Kang Lac has been around since forever. It’s one of the few Little Saigon restaurants that has survived through the years. It’s a little bakery that has fruit cake and Vietnamese/Chinese brunch food. The parking sucks but there’s street parking in the industrial area. The Chao and the Mi Hoanh Thanh is the best! Anyways, it’s my to go spot for Chao and Mi Hoanh Thanh. I highly recommend it if you want good Chao, Mi Hoanh Thanh or good fruit cake.
