I’m really torn about this place. The hu tieu nam vang had great broth, the broth had that depth of flavor that comes from long hours of simmering bones and meat bits and tendons. The soup has no msg; there’s no metallic taste, nor do I need to drink water afterwards. Then why the 2 stars? Because the last two times I ate here(been here more than 5 times), I went home and had stomach runs. Reading other Unilocalers reviews made me realize the«cleanliness» is the issue; that and probably sick workers(with the cold or something). If they clean up their act, I’d be more than happy to patronize again.

Really bad service!!! We drove by this place several time, and finally yesterday my husband and I decided we will give it a try since we always enjoy a good bowl of «hu tieu». We sat ourselves and after five minute, a guy in a red shirt with a hat came over to take our order. Since it was our first time at this place, my husband asked if we can look at the menu, to our disbelief, this guy rolled his eyes at us, and as he walked away we can hear him say there’s only two items on the menu. Well, how are we supposed to know that since it was our very first time!!! He finally came back tossed the menus on the table and walked away!!! A few min later he came back took our order. While we waiting for our food, my husband notices the table cleaning lady was dumping all the leftovers in a trash bin with the exception of lemon wedges, it was put aside on a plate. Since my hubby knows how much I like to add lemon to my food, he suggested I should opt out in the event they re-use it. Veggies plate came out, of course first thing I did was look at the lemon wedges and it did look kinda funny, like it has been left out a long time and slightly dried, so I decided to opt out this time. Food finally came out and it was ok nothing extraordinary comparing to other«hu tieu» places we’ve been to. As we finishing up, a couple came in sat down across from us. They waited and waited and finally the man got up went to the front cashier wanting to order, the same rude waiter walk the man back to the table and telling him he had to be seated at the table to order. So the couple did the same thing we did, asked to look at the menu and once again the very same waiter rudely said there’s only two items on the menu. Really??? Is this how they welcome/treat their customers, it certainly was not very welcoming!!! Given the experience above, I have to give this place a one star because zero is not an option.

My noodle soup was bugged(insect in food) they didn’t even says sorry. …heard in the background that they made me a new bowl… so we had to change my order ASAP. …I wonder of their ethical cleanliness. … Not coming here again

This place is hopping! It is always packed but the Unilocal reviews are low because their demographic is really really old. I’m sure they don’t know what the internet is! Anyhow, they have good Hu Tieu and awesome drinks: not from cans, all fresh! I’m not going to lie, it smells a little funny in there but for now I will attribute it to the«high volume no time to clean the floors» idea. Hopefully it’ll be nicer smelling next time. They recently took over the space next door so the lines are better.

TOTHEBADREVIEWS: yeah, i can see it making a few mistakes when it first opened but its been clean every time I’ve come here.

Hands down the best dry noodle in the Vietnamese community. Do not listen to some of the bad reviews here. This people must have their noses held up so high I can see thru their dirty nostrils. They’ve forgotten their roots. Must be all that fine dining shit they been having. Yes they have bad service, YES it’s crampy, YES there are rats running around under the table(kidding about the rats) hahaha… but HOLY Begeezuz… you’ll have an amazing dry noodle. Your mouth will be having a raging party. Tasty broth, full of meat, veggies and noodle in white or yellow. You can have it in WET or DRY, and I love mine dry just like everything else, well mostly everything haha. I’ve been coming here for a long time but only now had the time to write a review.

Food: their special Hu Tieu Nam Vang is the best and closest flavor I can relate to so far in OC. I ordered a dry version of it and loved it! Place: small, with very few tables. Service: typical Ok Vietnamese restaurant service(take order, serve food), if you are looking for an Italian/five star restaurant service here, please go somewhere else. I’m giving 4 stars because the ad they have is a little misleading. They advertise 40% off for Hu tieu, but the«reg price» is actually too high compared to typical Viet food.(5 $ and that’s already 40% off?!!).

i loveee this place. Get the dry hu tieu dac biet, it’s so good! I dont know why people expect like white glove service here, hello it’s a hole in the wall vietnamese place, DONOT expect it to be clean with great service, cus it’s not going to happen here. I am writing this review strictly on the food. They’re actually pretty nice to me and get what I need right away :) Good hangover food.

I came here based on a recommendation from my friend. She told me that their specialty, hi tieu nam vang dac biet was really good. My friend was right. I ordered it the hu tieu noodles dry(bowl of broth on the side). The bean sprouts and herbs that they gave me were fresh. I piled on minced pickled garlic, minced pickled diced jalapeño, chili pepper sauce, a little fish sauce, a really tasty dish. The ground beef was seasoned, the shrimp was fresh, the slices of pork was tasty, and the onion all tasted well together. I was given napkins and silverware right away. Service was decent. I went in the early afternoon. I had a nice noodle dish and will take my mother back here to eat.

This place is straight up Vietnamese. Bad service and unsanitary. Came in for a table of 6, they said they were ready. So as we walk in to our table, the same guy told us to go out. Wtf? We were sat down, and got no menu at all. Don’t know if there is supposed to be one but how do we know what to order? I just had one of my siblings order for me since I have no clue what was going on. My mom is also a pescatarian so she can only have seafood meat and the guy was giving her a hard time on what she should get and kept insisting her to try the broth which was made of meat. Uhh, no. Our tables had no utensils. How were we supposed to eat? They didn’t even bother giving us the stuff. They also gave us wrong drinks. Food was ok, not worth it. I’d rather go to 1.99. The shrimp still had a weird smell/taste to it.

No Good. I order to-go, and when I go home, I dont get to try the food, they dont give me the noodles for the Phở soup. I was very hungry and the place was very far to drive back to fix problem, so I ate leftovers from jack in box. Come on, how can you miss an order of noodles for Phở soup? They weren’t even busy enough to blame it on the traffic. Also, the phone number listed is no correct. At least now I can look back and laugh at it since the name of this place is called 405 Noodle House, but didn’t get not even 1 noodle at my house.

Food tasted good; service was expected for any similar place in the area. However, the place was very unclean: smudges of God knows what on the cups, bowls, and utensils. I had the worse case of the stomach flu shortly after eating here. If you value your tastebuds and wallet more than your health, eat right up.

I wasn’t all that impressed, but surprisingly it is quite busy in the mornings. Don’t get me wrong the food is good. I just don’t think it’s something I would drive to just to eat. Also, something that I will think about and crave. Lot’s of sodium in the soup base. Apparently everyone goes there for the beef bones that sell out before it’s even 9 in the morning. So if that’s what you are interested I would suggest that you get up early.

First, let it be known that this place is quite small and seems like it’s family run. Because of this, the service may not be all there but I expected this whenever I go to any Asian restaurants around the Westminster area. I actually enjoyed the food. It’s different than any other hu tieu I’ve tried at other places, but my told me this is what authentic hu tieu should be like. Or at least that’s what you would find if you went to Vietnam and ordered hu tieu. Anyway, it was a good kind of different. The sauce on top of the noodles was blended with meat and onions. Would I come here all the time? Probably not. But I would recommend to give this place a try if you don’t mind the cramp place and mediocre service.

When I was looking for a place to dine, this place looked sketchy, but the first 5 star review intrigued me and I love supporting local businesses so I passed on Lee’s Sandwiches and came here. I was really not impressed with this establishment for several reasons: (1) I asked for a menu in English and the waiter nearly had a heart attack. While I don’t expect them to know English, the least they could do is try. He just freaked out and then the lady/cook came out and rush outside to pull someone in who could speak English. (2) When I asked what the difference between the regular and the dac biet was I was told it was the size. I told the girl I wasn’t hungry and wanted the small-she insisted that I order the dac biet and brought up how it was just a dollar more. Okay, whatever-I didn’t want to argue. (3) They charged me $ 0.75 because it was BOGO and there was only 1 of me, so I asked if they could give me the free one to-go. $ 0.75 when I heard the waiter tell other Vietnamese patrons it would cost them $ 0.50 more to take their orders to-go. Fine again, I don’t want to argue. (4) So I go to the bathroom for less than 2 minutes and somehow the couple which arrived after I did had begun to eat already while I was left waiting another 5 – 10 minutes. By this time, I was late to my appointment and scarfed down the food. (5) I have never seen such a sorry dac biet dish! Yes, it was BOGO, but you end up paying about $ 8 so it is a bit of a rip off. (6) When they packed my to-go portion, the waiter did is so poorly that it spilled as soon as I go to my car. I brought it back in, asking him to give me another bag, but he repacked it… still kind of poorly. (7) Another thing that I really disliked was how you could hear everything that the waiter said to the cook. It is a small place and well, it just made the dining experience really not enjoyable for me. I would never recommend this place to any one and was actually quite annoyed that they got $ 9.75 out of me. The food was $ 8, they charged me $ 0.75 for getting my BOGO to-go, and I still stupidly left a $ 1 tip. Never again!

Horrible! They have a opening special where it’s buy one get one free. But in order to make up for this special they raised the price without telling you. On the menu the hu tieu dac biet is priced at $ 6.99 and the Che thai is $ 2.00 When we asked for the bill they charged us $ 8.00 for the hu tieu, which by the way is not s bowl worth $ 8.00 and the Che thai was $ 2.50 which is acceptable. We came to try it out today. With a special like that, it couldn’t be bad… But it was! The meal can’t even feel you up. Once we got in there the waitress told us they only have 2 items on the menu. Hu Tieu or Egg noodle! WTH? The hubby ordered his noodle with soup and they bring this bowl completely filled with so much soup. You couldn’t find the noodles in there. Long story short, I would never eat here again. And the person who gave this 5 stars must be related to the business cause you can’t in the right mind give this place 5 stars for food, or service or pricing. The restaurant didn’t look clean. I should have taken that into consideration and just not waste my money there.

Here’s the deal. The place is new and yes, its BOGO hu tieu and the drinks and such, but the food was okay. I mean the thai tea for me tasted a bit funny which is normal considering how this isn’t a drink shop. Onto the main course! The OKAY: $ 3.50 large bowl with the deal The Hu Tieu Nam Vang Kho(Rice Noodle Special, Dry) — was okay. It was a lot different then most hu tieu that I normally get because it had this saucy blended up meat with onions. Reminded me of spaghetti when I was eating. The BAD: I’ve got to be under a curse or something because whenever I try out new places I always, and I mean ALWAYS, find the dreaded hair. It’s not my hair, I assure you who are asking that right now. But the hair had a buddy this time, bar code sticker that says MADEINCHINA… That was obviously cooked with my noodles… I wonder what exactly it came from. –__________– Overall: Aside from the cursed additions, it was okay. I’m still giving them two stars because my two other friends enjoyed their meals and found no hair. Also because its different from hu tieu that I normally eat, I found it pretty okay with no comparisons. Note: Take out costs another .75 for each item.
