Great place to eat. Informal and good food. View of the harbor is hard to beat. Music(Jazz) on Tuesday nights. Table service week-ends and Tuesday nights. Try it.

Server Haley, was great and sweet. Food was delicious. I had the gyro sandwich and it was huge. This was our Christmas luncheon and I would def. go back again.

Again, I was out with my other mother grocery shopping,(one must never do that on an empty stomach.) So we decided to pop in here. The atmosphere was pleasant enough but the wait staff although friendly seemed slightly disorganized. Mediterranean, Turkish, Afghanistan, Lebanese, Israeli, Greek, et cetera, each have their own flair but similar taste. I love them all, and over the years I have eaten so much of this food, some from restaurants and some homemade by friends from these countries. That said, I have developed a finer palate in what I expect at a restaurant. Jeanette started with the avgolemono soup. This is normally one of my favorites if it is done correctly. It was disappointing. The consistency was way too thin and tasted more like a watered down chicken soup with lemon flavor. However the Turkish bread was very good but whatever they served it with, I hope it wasn’t supposed to be tzatziki sauce because it was heavy on cumin and again too thin, not a creamy thicker yogurt like the better ones or homemade ones I have sampled in the past and the seasonings were off. As a main course I ordered a sampler platter, eggplant, spicy feta, some fried cheese sticks(those were very tasty) and stuffed grape leaves. I didn’t like the grape leaves at all. They almost tasted like they came out of a can. The eggplant was average, and I happen to be a big fan of anything eggplant. The spicy feta was seasoned with cyanne pepper. On the whole, I found the difference in seasonings used to be less authentic and not as flavorful. Jeanette ordered lamb shish kebab with bismati rice. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t anything special either. I’m glad we tried it but with all the other places I know of, I wouldn’t likely return. Btw, Jeanette did like the meal, so maybe I just had higher expectations because I’ve had much better.

Love this place and eat here often — also take out at least once a week. The food is amazing, the service is fantastic and extremely generous portions at reasonable prices. They also have happy hour 7 days a week including at the tables so you can’t beat that. Awesome!

What a wonderful evening. Great in every way. Delicious zucchini pancakes and scrumptious Gyro dinner. The wait staff, Ely, guided us to a perfect wine for the meal. He was so warm and attentive throughout the evening. The manager, Danielle, came by to say hello. What a lovely welcoming touch. Can’t wait to return.

Always love this place! Their food is always consistent and delicious. The manager of this location always goes above and beyond making her way around to the tables ensuring everything is up to par. My only wish is they bring back the peas as the vegetable. But otherwise this is my go to place!

I’ve only been here for the Sunday brunch buffet for $ 16.95 per person which comes with a mimosa, Bloody Mary, coffee, tea or juice. First experience was better than the second. The cold salads were more varied the first time. The furniture is a bit outdated. IMHO, if they improved on the food, there would be more business. The meats during the buffet are super dry. The zucchini pancakes are greasy. Avoid the dried out chicken all together. I like the staff, I just wish I liked the food more. For $ 16.95, the food quality could be much better. The meat needs to be more moist. The meat is dry at 11 am when they first open their brunch doors. That is not a good sign. On a good note, the rice pudding and baklava with pistachio is delicious.

I went here for my lunch break with a colleague from work. I HIGHLY recommend it. I had the lamb kebab lunch special and i could not put it down. my coworker had the lamb and beef gyro and was equally impressed. This place is a must try if you like Mediterranean food

Visit Date: May 10, 2015 After calling about ten places in hopes of last minute Mother’s Day reservations the Ahyan’s in Westbury came through. I got seats at the 2:30 buffet for 18 people. When we got there we realized that they only gave us a table for 16 so we had to have an extra table with some extra chairs to seat everyone in our party. The atmosphere was a little weird. It reminded me of a fake Ayhan’s. They tried to get the Mediterranean Greek atmosphere that most Ayhan’s have but it looked like they were trying to replicate the look of Ayhan’s inside of an old fashioned 80s shopping store. So basically to me I felt like I was having a buffet in a store and not a restaurant but maybe that’s just me. The food was decent, pretty much the same as most Ayhan’s buffets. I think my family was more impressed with the food than I was. The brunch service on Sundays is really cheap. $ 20 per person(tax & tip excluded) for as much as you can eat from the buffet. I only had one buffet plate so it wasn’t worth it for me but on occasions that I can pack the food away it would be a good bargain to come here.

I was looking for a nice place to throw a birthday brunch for a family member. We lucked out when we found this place. The selection of food was amazing and seemed to cater to some of the picky eaters in our group. Even the gluten-free and vegetarian folks found something to eat! We’ve gone back several times for lunch and dinner. I signed up for their email, to get notifications and coupons. The food is always fresh, the prices are reasonable, the tables are clean, the décor is bright and refreshing(especially when it’s a snowy mess outside), and the staff is wonderful. We loved it!

This was not very authentic food. It was OK. Nothing special or worth the money. Kind of over priced and not that flavorful

I have been going to the Ayhan’s restaurants for years through thick and thin, their food and service has almost always been superb! I happened to have gone to the Plainview location about 2 weeks ago and my chicken kabob was over the top as was my friends meals(don’t remember what they or my wife had, LOL) but I know we were all pleased. The desert, Tiramasu was fantastic, fresh and delightful! I have also gone to the one in Port Washington and the new one in Great Neck, my hometown. Great Value for the money, quality and service. Always consistent!

While Shish Kebab is a chain of restaurants each location has its own, unique identity. The look and feel of the Westbury location is very warm and friendly. The service staff and bartenders are very friendly and accommodating. Like all the locations the music is appropriate to get you in the mood of the setting. The prices are reasonable for the abundance of food served. I had an Aegean Fish dish served over rice which was very tasty and well prepared. The Pita and spreads are plentiful. For dessert the Greek Yogurt with honey and nuts was really perfect to finish off the meal. I really look forward to returning.

I came on a Friday evening, the service was warm and friendly and the lamb chops were so tender and delicious. I’m here from Charlotte Nc and I am glad I came in. I’ve been to Adana Turkey though and a Turkish salad to me is a mixture of fresh mint leaves, cucumbers and tomatoes… not iceberg lettuce.

I was looking for a tofu restaurant that i actually though was still in carle place. They actually closed down. Lol so much for my 1st try of tofu. MEATISONTHEMENU! I WALKEDINANDWASIMMEDIATELYSEATEDANDGREETEDPROFESSIONALLY. The menu had a lot of options.(I wanted everything). We started with the crab cake appetizers it was prepared pan fried with real lump meat and imitation but it had a great taste. For dinner whole lobster special and baby lamp chops with basmati rice and peas. The lamb was a bit bland but very tender and came right off the bone. Still no taste boo. The waitress gave me yogurt sauce with pita bread to eat with it. The lobster was very fresh no complaints at all. My damn 2 year old decided he wanted to throw a tantrum over my phone while i was enjoying my basmati rice.(How dare he?) The waitress quickly came over with 2 toys and said its okay do you want a toy? He stopped crying thanks to her small entertainment. She mentioned she had a son. Very kid friendly and amazing service. The staff is very attentive. The sangria was to Die for! I would definitely go back. I hope you enjoyed my pictures *wink

My how this chain has fallen! I used to love Ayhan’s whole grilled tilapia. Now, it’s a bland, spongy remnant of past meals. Add in mediocre service and you have the downfall of a once excellent group of restaurants. Now I know why I have not been back here in a long time. It will be even longer till I’m back again.

Came for brunch and there was a lot of different veggie and meat selections including hummus, babaganiush, cous cous salad, cheeses, etc. things to avoid falafel, zucchini soggy fritters, and some of the pies. Fruit was fresh and tasty and there were assorted baklava. Brunch comes with mimosa or Bloody Mary. For $ 16, u get a smörgåsbord or different items. Service was fine. Clientele was interesting. We were seated near one family with children who needed constant monitoring so a bit distracting. And another set of ladies with strollers came in leaving door wide open without any care to the people in the restaurant who were freezing from their rudeness. It’d be nice to dine in a restaurant where people were actually cognizant and respectful of others but sadly that is getting harder and harder to find.

Great food! A little pricey when compared to the other kebab joints around the area. Service staff was OK, the manager was very friendly when he greeted and seated us. The portion sizes were just right for lunch, though I ordered from the dinner entrée menu. I figured there would be more food for the price. Like I said, food is great, but if you are a big eater, go for the Sunday all you can eat brunch for $ 14.95.

Atmosphere is nice — its a big place inside and has nice ambiance for lunch. The drinks are so cool here. You can get a lemon drop martini with a sugar rimmed glass. a watermelon martini. the pictures above are the green apple martini and a mojito with mint. They were sweet. cool and refreshing. They always have a drink special each day for $ 5. Its fun to try… only the pomegranite martini was horrid.(beware). The food. well it is so portion controlled you could not think of sharing. A few tiny cubes of meat on a skewer with vegetables rice etc. its meager I tell you. But you have already eaten all the pita bread while waiting. so your not hungry anyway.
