Station Plaza Coffee Shop & Diner

This place is wonderful. Food is delicious… The staff is so friendly and they operate so professionally…

I’m a sucker for diners and I think Station Plaza Coffee Shop’s got all the right stuff, but I’m afraid I’ll have to stick with taking stuff to-​go from now on.
Got there around 1 on a Tuesday and was seated pretty much right away, but that’s when the waiting started. The time between placing my order (got a «chickenring» wrap which had grilled chicken plus onion rings) and receiving my food was wayyy too long. Sure, the place was busy on a lunch hour and I saw plenty of take out orders going on simultaneously, but I’ve been to plenty of these sorts of places and there’s really no excuse for that sort of delay. The wrap was A-​ok, and pretty much exactly what it sounded like.
There seemed to be a lot of regulars dining in, which I both like seeing and felt a bit envious about. My server was fine, albeit curt in comparison to how I saw others being treated. Being new to Mineola, and uh, looking a bit different than 99% of the clientele there, I think there’s a bit of a learning curve involved in getting comfortable at Station Plaza, but that’s not a problem. I don’t think my wait time was affected by me not being «one of the guys,» but I don’t think I expedited the process either. Oh well.
Overall, this place is cheap enough to warrant a trip back for breakfast foods, but I’m not eager to dine in again, at least on my own. I like the concept and location, but I’ll have to find somewhere else to chow down on Station Plaza’s food in the future.

Amazing food for a diner and unbeatable prices. My family and I have been coming to this place for years and it never disappoints. The prices are so good and the amount you are given is very generous. Service is quick and prompt, most of them are personable and willing to do extra. The food is fresher than most diners I’ve been to. Most diners cook food ahead of time so it gets to you just a tad cold. At this place, that is never the case. Im always a satisfied customer.

Best breakfast around! The place is cozy n clean with great wait staff. The homefries are a perfect blend of crispy, yet tender potatoes with minimal amount of onion. The omelets are perfectly sized for the price and always come out perfect! The price is great too; ~$ 7!

One dollar sign and five stars. A great place for breakfast. Delicious food, great menu. I had an eggs and pepper sandwich, which you usually don’t see on a menu. My husband had a breakfast platter with delicious home fries. The never ending coffee was delicious. Lots of people in and out, because they are across from the Mineola train station, but they didn’t rush us when we lingered a bit to enjoy the meal. Highly recommend.

Update: 8÷17÷15 — I seriously give up. There were TWO people (one of them being myself) in Station Plaza and they managed to mix up both our orders. What’s the point in writing down the order? You might as well give everyone a surprise (the surprise being something other than they ordered).
Mistakes surely happen, but constant mistakes drive costumers elsewhere.
Update 2÷2÷15. Avoid this place like the plague if you enjoy getting your order right. The weather was pretty terrible today so I dropped in on my way to work. I placed an order that couldn’t be more simple: Egg & Cheese on a plain roll. No butter.
This isn’t rocket science. Scrambled Egg + Cheese + Roll = happy customer.
I get my order, walk 15 minutes to work. Sit down, open up my sandwich. And low and behold, I have scrambled egg on a roll with butter.
Is it truly that hard?
I was the only person putting an order in. So you can’t say that they were busy and mistakes happen.
To summarize, if you enjoy getting random food that you did not order, this is the place for you. If you like to eat exactly what you ordered, take my advice.

Excellent place for breakfast and lunch. Love their egg whites, turkey burgers and homemade soups. Exceptional service.

Amazing spot to stop in for breakfast or lunch. The bacon egg and cheese they have is just completely delicious with a side of coffee. Service is quick and with plenty of seats since it is a diner. It has the stool at the counter look and it looks wonderful. Staff is very friendly and work in a positive attitude as well as keeping a smile on their face even with rude customers.

I stopped here when for a quick cup of coffee while waiting for a train. It was ok. I really can’t comment kn much else but for a cheap cup of deli sryle coffee you could do far worse. Good luck! :-)

The food is pretty good and quite cheap. The service is unbelievably quick and the staff is friendly.
The coffee is good and the place looks like a classic diner.
This place is an easy walk from the train, but I’d recommend sitting at the bar over grabbing to go.

I came here for breakfast. Had two eggs with potatoes and a coffee. The food wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good either.
Service was very slow and every time I needed the waitress, she was nowhere to be found.

I’ve been to the Station Diner a number of times over the past couple of months and I have yet to be disappointed.
I’ve always gotten breakfast, and always between trains on my way back out to Stony Brook. There’s always a lot of patrons coming in and out, especially for take out, but I have always been serves quickly. Multiple times I’ve sat down, ordered, and received my breakfast within 4 minutes. And that’s super awesome.
I always get a tea and a bacon egg and cheese on a roll. The BEC has always been amazing (whether I’ve ordered it take out or sit down). Once it had some butter on the roll but I wasn’t as offended by this as some other reviewers have been. I assume it’s from putting the roll down on the grill. Whatever it was delicious and not like butter lava.
And the waitresses are always super friendly and nice and I think they’re starting to remember me.
The bathroom (for customers only) is very clean as well.
It is cash only, but given that the sandwich and tea runs me $ 5, I can handle it.
All in all, great place to stop for breakfast in Mineola!

Step back in time with the look, excellent service and great chefs.
I sat at the counter and watched the chef create my egg sandwich and a dozen others breakfast dishes in my less than 5min wait! The one who made my dish even had some time for simple conversation.
A couple of waitresses asked how I was doing and if needed anything.
All the dishes looked great and I would have had more but had to catch a train.
This is on my return list and will share with friends.

Extremely reasonable pricing as I used the singles in my pocket to pay. That’s with a tip!

Conveniently located in Mineola, at Mineola train station. Great spot especially for LIRR, and Winthrop University Hospital employees and visitors. Reasonable prices. Food good, only had their breakfasts options., with decaf coffee.

Love this place. Conveniently located steps away from the westbound Mineola LIRR station platform, they cover all the basics, prepare & pack up «to go» orders quickly & consistently deliver solid quality at very reasonable prices. The coffee is good as well & I have enjoyed dining at the counter on a few early morning occasions.

Probably the most reasonably priced breakfast on Long Island, cooked perfectly to order. Perfect place to go for a quick bite if you are by the Mineola LIRR station.

One of the best diners on Long Island, I have to say. They have the best breakfast bargains especially with the omelette with cheddar cheese which includes home fries and toast. Just fantastic. Nick and Billy does a great job running that place! I go here at least once a week mostly during the early mornings. It’s at a prime location as well near the Mineola LIRR

I love this place! It’s clean, reasonable, staff is warm & friendly! The place gets very busy during peak hours but the staff is so great it still runs like a top!
Breakfast or lunch food is great everytime! Burgers, Reuben’s, sandwiches, eggs, I’ve tried and loved them all. Top notch!

Nice luncheonette for a quick lunch or breakfast near the Mineola train station. Breakfast stuff is good, I like the spinach and feta omelette and the home fries that come with it. They crank out the egg sandwiches pretty quick in the morning.
Greek salad with grilled chicken is great with the right amount of everything. I usually have them hold the green peppers.
As others have said it’s cash only, but prices for food are reasonable.
