This is an OK place to eat, but I would not travel very far to eat there. The ribs were decent but a little cold. Bourbon chicken was really good along with the breaded shrimp. Smoked sausage needed a little more flavor. The Bar-b-que pork was way dry with the sauce just kind of nasty. The peel and eat shrimp was not the best but was OK. Really not much of a dessert bar. The crust on the peach cobbler was pretty bad and the bread pudding was raw and I just could not eat it. The service was pretty good but a little slow. This was our first time here and no one helped us as we looked lost as we tried to figure things out.

We first visited Chow Time last year and were so happy with the food. We decided to stop by this year again while visiting the Salt Lake City area and what a disappointment it was. The quality of the food has definitely gone down. The selection of the food was not nearly as good as it used to be. You can get by when the selection is not great but when the quality of the food is poor there is no excuse. Also, the food had no flavor. One positive note was that our waitress was good in bringing drinks and clearing away dishes. Whatever changes have been made in the last year have not been good ones. I doubt that we will be visiting Chow Time again.

First time here tonight, and I was here 8pm, everything was old, and everything was empty, I tried let chef cook some more food and fresh meat, because the meat was really really old and dry, just like rock, but they said«NO», because they are ready close in hour. I know here is buffet cannot compare with the normal dining restaurant! but The food really taste horrible, definitely not go back there again! King buffer so much better here, high recommend !

One of the most underrated restaurants in Salt Lake County. Buffets under $ 20 or so are always about quantity and variety over quality, anyone expecting anything else is dreaming of castles in the sky. So, no – the food isn’t anything to write home(or Unilocal) about. But there’s tons of it and it’s a deal. The service is very friendly(we came an hour before closing and they offered us a free takeout box to pile on before going home.) And you get to see a different side of Salt Lake County(I’d say 80% of the patrons did not speak English as their first language.) Four stars for the food-to-dollar ratio. Nothing was inedible(high praise, I know.) The carved brisket, however, was delicious.

Makes me sick how much food I feel like I have to eat when I go to buffets. The décor and cleanliness of the restaurant is great. But not one item was amazing. Typical for a buffet. I do like the prime rib. They don’t offer crab legs or oysters which is disappointing.

There may be variety here, but sadly not much of it is any good. They have American, BBQ, Mexican and Westernized Chinese food. I find their Chinese food lacks variety but is generally pretty good, if you like deep fried chunks of chicken in sweet sauces. Their BBQ sauce is the gross sweet stuff out of a jug, and that along with cheap, underseasoned meats makes for some downright terrible barbecue cooking. Some of the worst tasting ribs around. Sausage lacks flavor. Brisket is cooked wrong and has the giant slab of fat still attached to the top of it, while the meat is as dry as a bone. Some other offending dishes. tamales are dry inside. Chicken, dry. Steaks are cheap and very tough. Fried fish is overcooked and sopping wet inside. Desserts are pathetic. Peach and apple cobblers thin and have very little real fruit. Flan much too watery. And the tiny rice crispy squares on tooth picks are laughable. A few items I somewhat enjoy are their corn on the cob, tempura onions rings. bourbon chicken is cooked and seasoned well and tender. dinner rolls are fresh. It’s too bad they have no selection of fruit or sushi like most of their competitors have. Drinks cost extra, and the drink girl rarely, if ever comes around for refills. I do appreciate that they keep a fairly clean space compared to other local buffets. But after a handful of visits, the food isn’t up to par and won’t bring me back.

Here for the first time not to Impressed for some reason sweet tasting tamales and enchiladas not my ideal if Mexican food. The pot stickers were good but really the other Chinese did not appeal to me. Might go back to try again due it might have been an off day for the cooks

I am very surprised by the ½ star reviews. This place rocks! $ 8 lunch with so many options, you really can’t beat that! If you feel like going to Vegas for the buffet, save the money and time and come to Chow Time. I wish they could have chosen a different name as it confuses people thinking it’s only a Chinese buffet. On the contrary, it has a wide assortment of options from Chinese to BBQ to traditional American. My favorite section is the desert section. The ambience is pretty nice as well. Not dirty like what you would expect from a place like this. I will definitely be back!

Dirty place, lukewarm food, left a bad taste in my mouth. I won’t be back. The meal we had was overpriced, the food was old and of poor quality. Some dishes were missing descriptions and were unidentifiable grey chunks of something. All food items were lukewarm. The place was filthy, with chunks of broccoli under our«clean» table and the napkin holder on the table appeared to have sneeze marks all over it. I ate very few things but felt nauseous for two hours after. Avoid this place. Go to golden corral or something where at least you won’t fear for the safety of your bowels.

Too high priced, very rude staff. You have to pay extra for drinks, cannot get your own drink but the lady server never comes around so I had to ask another server to bring me a drink. I will never come back. The food was ok tasting but not worth the price i paid. I left a penny tip but when service is good at other restaurants I leave a %20 tip. I drive a big rig all over the country and eat at many places so I have a good idea how the customer is supposed to be treated.

I tried this place when they first opened and was not impressed, but I have recently returned to give it another try and I can say that this place is probably one of the better buffets in town. They have a variety of different foods like Mexican, American, and Chinese. I have only been here on a Sunday because they serve prime rib. The food seemed fresh and kept up with, if you are a buffet eater I will definitely recommend this place.

This was the first and last time that I will be eating at this establishment. There were a few good things here and there. I really liked the teriyaki chicken, corn on the cob, and the ham fried rice. Other than that I was completely unimpressed. Even the desserts were lack luster. I don’t know how you mess up xoxo it macaroons and brownies, but this place did. Definitely not worth the $ 13 a person we paid.

I have mixed feelings about this place. Good, bad, then good, then bad, then clean, but desert super sucked, then weird, then okay.

This place has decent food for a very affordable price(Dinner: $ 15/person, which includes tax and tip!). There is good variety, including a soup section, steakhouse/grill, Mexican food, Chinese food, and dessert. The dining area is really spacious. It was not too crowded on a Friday night, but the servers were quite busy. You order your beverages from them, and they will also come around to take dirty dishes. There was a good variety of drink as well, including hibiscus tea and horchata. This place definitely serves its purpose. I would recommend it for its variety, cleanliness, and price!

I was excited about the BBQ portion of the buffet, but a bit nervous after reading reviews. Whether we caught them on a good day, or they’ve now maintained improvements, it was a great meal. The chicken, ribs, and brisket were all moist and tender. Not a fan of their house sauce, which lacked a woody flavor and was very sweet. But the rubs used on the meats suited my palate. Everything was in small serving dishes, and was quite fresh. Employees stayed busy properly refreshing the items. The temperature of the food was amazing to me – the cold foods were chilled and the hot foods steamy. I had a small sampling of their ethnic offerings, and really liked the Mexican and Chinese bites. The Jicama & Mango salad was a great marriage of flavors(I’m pretty sure it had peanut oil and a sprinkle of chile powder). I would prefer they offer deveined shrimp, especially since the quality of their shrimp is better than I’ve experienced at other buffets. And Mr. H. was looking forward to the fried jalapeño, but the one I picked for him was infernally hot. Also, it is time for a deep cleaning of where the booth tables and seats meat the walls. Service was great, and the place was clean overall.

Since the last time my wife and I went to check out time, there was a response on our review from someone in management from Chow time grill. After reading this we decided to give them another shot. It’s kind of funny because based on the response I saw from management I felt that they believe their recipes were good for the masses, and they would make no changes. This time I made sure to try many of the same things I had tried before. I felt that things were not as bland as before. I don’t know if they updated their recipes or if I’m just crazy. All of that being said I felt the food for the most part tasted very good without adding salt and pepper this trip. This time when I had the ribs they were fall off the bone which is a little too tender for me. FYI I know I’m picky and hard to please. The flavor was great, and the BBQ sauce was tasty as well. This time the. Desserts were better. When I first walked up to the desert line, I touch the Panda the bread pudding was in with my hands to check for the temperature. The pan was cold, so I decided against trying the bread pudding. But the second time I went to the buffet there was a new pan of bread pudding I touch the pan and it was hot. So I tasted it and it was hot and very delicious. The service was great just like the previous time. I did not improve the star rating because the jury is still out on this one for me. I will return again and if they stay consistently good I will upgrade my star rating. It is very nice to see a restaurant but is concerned about their reviews and is willing to make changes to improve a guest’s visit. Most restaurants don’t seem to care.

Yummy, clean, and fresh. We’ve never had a bad experience here. Beef broccoli, grilled corn on the cob, varieties of fish, bourbon chicken, eclars, mango mousse cake… Some faves

When I first came here, I wasn’t s big fan. A few months later, I received s coupon in the mail for a free buffet at chow time. Like any other cheap bastard who wouldn’t turn down free food, I thought I’d give it another shot. The quality of food is still not up to par. The prime rib that was advertised on the coupon was available, however, it wasn’t very tasty even with the bland au jus sauce and watery horseradish sauce. The Chinese food selection wasn’t great either. Everything looked too oily or deep fried. Maybe that’s typical Chinese food which I’m also not a fan of. Mexican food section was also a «miss.» Their beef enchilada was soggy. The chicken quesadilla was good :) Southern food section was also pretty heavy and I only tried to corn and green beans. I guess they added some flavor to the corn, but it wasn’t great. Sausages were yummy :) Soup section: I only tried the egg drop soup which was extremely thick –_– The salad bar: I tried the crab salad and the crab seemed to have sit out for too long and it was a little chewy and tough to eat. The cucumber and onion salad was too vinaigrette-y if that’s even a word. Dessert bar was mediocre. There’s jello and some Rice Krispies treats dipped in chocolate. Ehhhh. I was not impressed with this place. Buffet City’s layout and food quality is much better. Here, there is one long row of food items while at buffet city, there are smaller islands avoid going the distance and hiking back to your seat. Servers are nice and I now have 3 cups of water at my table haha. 2 are half empty and the last is full.

Pretty good buffet. If you are looking for a wide selection to choose from then this is your place. The options that are available are Chinese, Mexican, southern home cooking, good from the grill, salad bar, and then dessert. Although it may not sound like much, there are many options in each category. Recommendations for this place would be the desserts, specifically the bread pudding and apple cobbler. Overall the buffet isn’t bad and I’m sure I’ll eat here again sometime.

I will start by saying I am not a buffet fan, usually I avoid them when possible. This place opened in January and it is very close to my work. Lunch time came around and I could not decide what I wanted to eat, idea, go to that new buffet joint and chose from a variety. As I said this is a new place, the building is new as well so everything is still clean and shiny. They have a dual theme, Asian and South Western(BBQ). I tried selection from both genres and found the Asian to be more appetizing. They had a large selection of Asian dishes, about 20 I believe. They looked good and appeared to be wok’d fresh in the Wok behind the Asian part of the buffet. I sampled a variety and they had good flavor & tender, fresh, quality meat, all good when eating Asian food. There was a large variety of South Western dishes, a dozen plus sides and half a dozen meat options including grilled chicken, sausage, brisket, etc. I sampled most of the meat offerings and some of the sides including corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, pinto beans, dinner rolls & baked beans. Most everything was very bland. Unfortunately I missed the BBQ sauces on the first pass and ate my chicken and sausage plain, again bland. On the second pass I found the BBQ sauce, one sweet red sauce and a golden mustard based sauce, these are a must when eating the BBQ selections. The dinner roll was hot fresh and tasty, the corn on the cob was terrible, over cooked and flavorless. The desserts were not impressive. They have a small selection including puddings, cobblers, jello, softserver ice cream. There were no pies, cakes, etc. It appeared the goal was large pans of easy desserts to serve to the masses like banana, rice and bread pudding, an apple and peach cobbler, etc. Flavor was minimal. My buffet was reasonably good but on the pricey side, $ 9+ just for the buffet and had I opted for a soda that would have added another $ 2. I will stop in here on occasion for the variety and some tasty Asian options.
