Sushi here always on point. This is the place to go whenever I want a sushi crave. The lunch AYCE menu is $ 13-$ 14 while their dinner menu(which combines the lunch menu) is $ 19.99. I will say right off the bat that is place is decently big but can get awfully crowded during the peak dinner and lunch times. Big parties here can be disastrous sometimes and I would always recommend calling ahead of time for a reservation(I can’t remember if Raku’s does reservations but it doesn’t hurt to call) They have a self serve bar for some side dishes(fruits, salads etc) The sushi selection here is awesome and I love how the dinner AYCE allows people to order off of the lunch menu as well. The nigiri here is decent and I personally love the salmon! In terms of my favorite roll, I personally like the 49er and the firebird, but I recommend people to try all the rolls to see which is their favorite. I would beware that the wait for sushi varies depending on how busy the restaurant is, so sometimes you have to order a lot for your first round and sometimes you don’t. Although there are similar places in Davis that also offer AYCE sushi, Raku’s is probably my favorite. Service here is generally on point and food is always good. Can’t complain about rakus!

This place has drastically changed ever since the last time I’ve been here. Quality is not good, sushi chef went to smoke outside, came back in and didn’t even wash his hands before continuing to roll more rolls! Gross! Yes, price is very reasonable for buffet, but quality stinks! I rather eat at bento box or Jensai Sushi. They have happy hour deals and all that and their quality is much better than here. Don’t think I’ll be returning. Sushi was not up to my standards. Only thing I enjoyed were the donut dessert and octopus.

A couple buddies and a decided to get some Sushi and we arrived this place was packed, there were people waiting outside for a seat. We were a little worried it would take a while but the wait was fast. The place has an all you can eat menu for around $ 20 for dinner. All the rolls and nigiri were delicious and the service was some of the best. Not only does this place have some great sushi, but their dessert was amazing too. I never put sushi and dessert together, but this place does it right. The doughnuts, fried ice cream and fried banana all came at hot like they were just made. I am craving more as I write this. I am looking forward to coming back.

OK, this isn’t Kru but for an AYCE place it’s the most decent one I can find for the price. Have eaten here about 10 times. Of course, common complaint is always too much rice to protein ratio. Put your name on waiting list as soon as you walk in. Have never waited more than 15 minutes. One tip is that if you’re dining for dinner(and pay the dinner AYCE price), you can also order off the lunch menu. This includes items such as tempura, gyoza, fried oysters, teriyaki chicken, etc. Hand rolls are my favorite but they take a little longer to come out and there’s that rice thing again. Decent condiment/salad bar. I’m always amazed at how fresh the mussels are. Phoenix roll is one of my favorites. Mostly we stick to nigiri. If AYCE is not your thing, you can order individual plates off their regular menu. I always get a hot sake also. Because they go through such a large volume of fish, it’s usually up to par. Never had a problem with service even at their busiest times. Maybe because we tip well or they just find my handsome, old fart of a husband adorable. Just need to place a decent sized order up front then add 1 or 2 items each time your server comes by until you fill your face. So put on your sweat pants and head on over.

You can get an all you can eat for $ 19 for dinner, and to be clear, this is American sushi, so you get your full indulgence of sauce, cheese, deep fried rolls, etc. We came on a Sunday and had to wait in line for about 30 min. They can take your order right away and food comes out in about 5 – 7 min. You pick up your own appetizers from the back, along with extra plates & garnish. The service is quick, and you don’t need to talk to your waiter when ordering food so I assume the tipping is shared. I Desserts are included in the AYCE menu. They have deep fried bananas(ahmazing), deep fried donuts, and sesame balls(more Chinese than Jpn). Overall it’s a great deal especially after a run on the slope when you’re hungry. Imagine having to buy a roll for $ 15 per at other restaurants that are similar type of rolls. With that in mind, this place is great! I have to put my Japanese sushi standards completely aside. Hence the –2 stars. P. S. They’re expanding/relocating literally across the street to a larger space.

All you can eat sushi?! COUNTMEIN! Good sushi for a good price! About $ 19.95 for dinner and $ 13.95 for lunch? Something along those lines. The wait for a table was not bad either. For a hole-in-the-wall place, this spot has great selections. My friends and I started out with the sides and appetizers. I got the usual edamame, pickled cucumbers, and cabbage. The stuffed mussels were bomb! We also got sesame sesame chicken and gyoza. They offered a variety of sides. The sushi was great! I really enjoyed their Lion King. It was different from most Lion King rolls, because it was lighter in texture and taste. We then got the Rainbow, Mexicano, House Tempura, and Honey Walnut rolls. They come in a small plate of 4 pieces, which was not bad. It’s AYCE! Try ‘em all! Finally, we had our fried bananas and doughnuts. Plus, a classic green tea to cleanse our systems. Again, very delicious! My only complaint was the service. Not a big deal for me, but we had to tell our waitress 3 times before we got our hot tea and 2 times to get our miso soup. However, I do understand it was a busy Sunday evening. Still… Overall, I cannot wait to go back here. Much recommended to anyone in the area.

Visited this restaurant after being recommended by a fellow co-worker. This place serves its Sushi as part of an All You Can Eat Style. Their menu is filled with many varieties and types of sushi. A few minutes after being seated, a waitress picks up your order and places them at the sushi bar. Five or Six minutes later, poof she delivers some of dishes that were ordered. During this experience, the waitress did forget a few items through out the dining experience. Sushi tasted great, I enjoyed the buffet style as it allowed me to flavor multiple dishes without worrying if what I ordered will taste bad. Cost was about $ 20 for dinner and $ 15 for lunch. Value wise, this is an awesome deal if you want to get your Sushi fix on. Also included in the buffet are the appetizers and desserts!

Four stars for the food. It was passable, and it’s fun to be able to order things you wouldn’t normally order without worry. This is going to sound somewhat like a sushi snob, but after a bit, the rice congeals together and the texture is just off. That happened with one or two of my rolls. My guess is this happens because they whip out so many rolls that they keep a monstrous amount of cooked rice on hand. Just a guess though. Rice is kind of a big deal in terms of sushi, so minus 1 for that. One gripe is that they had a television on in the dining room. This is normally fine by me, but seated at the table next to mine was a family with a boy who could not keep his eyes off. On top of that, he gave the blow by blow of what was happening on the television like we were all hard of sight. The price was right. It was a good try but for a buffet, I’d rather go to Fuji instead. Oh yeah, and hot tea is $ 2/person.

I ABSOLUTELYLOVESUSHI. I’m constantly craving it and I don’t think I can live without fresh salmon nigiri or unagi nigiri. Raku is a good place in Sac for AYCE sushi for about $ 20? I’d say that is worth the price. I like their selection of rolls and the fact it’s only a few pieces. I like trying different types of rolls so that I’m not tired of just a single roll. In the back of the room, they have a little self serve stand for your ginger, wasabi, little appetizer needs! The dark sauce with the onion and peppers is for the gyoza! I saw some people use it for their sushi but hey u do u. Their chilled mussels with the tomato topping is pretty good and I love their cucumber appetizer. I don’t know what’s in it but it’s good. This isn’t on their menu but at the end of your meal, you must ask for their strawberry vanilla fried ice cream!!!

Not the best sushi, but better than some other AYCE sushi spots in the area. Their rolls don’t have a crazy amount of sauce covered all over it, which I personally appreciate. Of the AYCE sushi places, I feel like Raku’s has pretty decent nigiri! It’s not the best quality, but better than other places. Their self-serve area doesn’t look the most fresh and wasn’t very well stocked. Which made the selection look like it’s been there for a while, which made me hesistant to eat any of i. Wakame salad wasn’t that great(not very fresh). Would come again for AYCE. Definitely worth a try.

STOPPPIT! No more sushi, please. I am so full and might puke if I see another sushi roll. This will be the last time I eat sushi for awhile. This quaint spot located in West Sacramento offers AYCE sushi. With $ 20 per person, every sushi fan should come and check it out. Yes, I prefer mikuni’s quality better, but it’s just as good here. Came here for dinner – 3 adults, 3 teenage boys going through a growth phase, and one kid; we ate a bit too much than we can handle. The menu has a variety of rolls and other plates. Service was okay. We had two people checking in on us to place orders, etc. and other people that only dealt with water refills. They have a self serve bar where you can get wasabi, oranges, salad, cucumbers, mussels, etc. I loved the crunchy peppered cucumbers. I ate two small plates of it!

The best sushi buffet hands down. Raku has quality sushi and all the rolls are made to order. There is a appetizer bar with edamame and other side dishes. There’s plenty of vegetarian and hand roll options too! They also offer deep fried ice cream but an advanced notice is needed so they can prep.

AYCE Sushi was awesome!!! Super wide selection of different rolls, including Maki. The Maki rolls were delicious, especially the unagi(eel). I tried a little bit if everything and had absolutely no complaints. The tempura rolls were crisp but not hard, the seared rolls were done perfectly and the deep fried rolls were hot and crisp. The restaurant was slammed when I went in(friday 8pm) but the service didnt suffer in the slightest. At least three different servers were always checking on me and I was seated at the bar, so tbe guys making tbe rolls kept up with me as well. They were cranking out the rolls faster than you could order and eat. Plates were cleared as they emptied but never felt rushed. My beverage stayed filled throughout my meal and honestly I never had to ask for a thing except my next roll. Only thing I could hold against them is the size of their nigiri. It was a little smaller than some Ayce places ive been to. All told you wont be disappointed, as lingbas you finish with some fried ice cream. Not on the menu but it is willingly provided upon request.

Me likey! The wait to be seated was borderline ridiculous, but it sure did build up my appetite. Their lunch has a decent selection. I like the self-serve bar with edamame. Our group ordered at least 4 items every time the waitress arrived with our previous orders. The teriyaki and tempura were very tasty. The rolls varied around 4 pieces and I was able to try all of the ones I wanted(some of them, twice) :) I’m sure we’ll be back!

AYCE dinner: ~$ 25 including 15% tip and tax. TIP: Raku’s gets busy, especially during the weekends and Friday dinners. You can call in and put your name on the waiting list. Raku’s is not the best sushi, but what can you expect from an all you can eat sushi buffet? Besides that, Raku’s definitely better than Fuji’s, Nami’s, and Davis Sushi buffet. The only drawback is that Fuji’s is more creative with their rolls. There is a sides bar in the front where you can get wasabi, ginger, salad, mussels, and oranges while you wait for your sushi. The sushi here is definitely better and fresher than most sushi buffets. This is the only sushi buffet where I’m able to order nigiri without wondering if it won’t be fresh or will still be frozen. Raku also has donuts for dessert, which taste amazing. The service and the delivery of food, on the other hand, is terribly slow. I recommending ordering a lot for your first order, and ordering more as the servers bring you your sushi. Overall, the quality of the sushi outweighs the service, and this place is my first pick when I’m craving AYCE sushi.

My hubby and I were feeling a little nostalgic about our old college days so on our way to visit UC Davis, we stopped by Raku Sushi for lunch in Sacramento. When we got there we thought it would take FOREVER to get a table since there were bunch of people waiting outside. But surprisingly, we were seated in about 15 minutes. So my hubby and I have been to Raku a few times before. It is possible that the previous visits were better or maybe because we have been to plenty of good sushi restaurants already that our tastes have changed, but this time around, we weren’t as impressed with the food. Because it is a lunch buffet, I don’t remember all the rolls we ordered, but for the other foods we got gyoza, chicken katsu, nigiri(salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and albacore), and donuts for dessert. As for the rolls, I realized that most of them were just different versions of the California rolls, decorating them a little bit differently, but none of the«fillings» were anything speical. The dinner options might be better, but lunch is pretty lackluster. As for service, most of the time it’s good, but some of the waitresses don’t write down what we order and try to memorize them instead. Unfortunately, they frequently mess up and give us the wrong things or forget to bring out our orders at all. So, if you want to eat a lot, Raku is an average sushi buffet that will fill you up. The prices are reasonable, but be warned that the sushi isn’t the best: It’ll do.

I have been here multiple times with my friends over the past year or so, but since I have a Unilocal account now, might as well write about it. Raku’s is definitely the BEST sushi buffet place in surrounding areas(Davis & all of Sac.) The only down side to this place is that it’s too small and tends to get very crowded(and a long line) during weekends. BUT, once you get seated, they are generally pretty quick in handling our orders and making our food. What sets this place apart from other sushi buffet around the area is their ‘salad bar’. It’s towards the back and you can get marinated cucumbers, edamame, seaweed, and other unlimited good appetizers there. The sushi here are made better than most places. The rice isn’t too mushy and they don’t OVERSTUFF their rolls with rice. The rolls are pretty good too. My favorite are the Kings & the Bob’s. The fish here has always seem fresh and I never had a problem with it. But since it’s a sushi buffet, don’t expect huge pieces of sashimi on your nigiri. It’s reasonably sized. I also appreciate that they used actual oysters for their fried oysters. Most AYCE sushi places that serve that use mussels instead, and it’s not the same. I definitely recommend the deep fried oysters. When you’re done and ready for dessert, ask them for donuts because their donut is the best compared to all of AYCE around the area. They also have fried ice cream(if you ask), but it’s not that great. Overall, this place is not bad and is my go-to place in Sacramento for some unlimited sushi. Reasonable pricing. Good, fresh sushi. Most likely will come here again.

AYCE: Delightful in taste and sight, fresh without smelling fishy and a good selection of rolls to choose from. I recommend you coming here on Monday for the highest quality fish. That’s usually when they get their fish delivered, sources tell me. I like the fish to rice ratio here, some other AYCE places are heavy on the rice, but Raku has a consistently fair ratio so you don’t feel like you’re paying a lot for white rice. I like that the service is fast, yet the rolls are aesthetically pleasing and they don’t fall apart like other places. Take a gander at the salad bar, they have self-serve edamame, oysters, sauces, etc. My favorite roll is the Harbor, super delicious(dinner only). I recommend harbor, capital, shrimp tempura and mexicano. Nigiri is okay, not the freshest and they do give you a bunch chunk of rice with it, but it is doable. Service: Attentive and fast despite the heavy foot traffic. They are good about filling your water cup and taking away plates. Ambiance: Slightly modern feel, this place can get very crowded, especially during dinner hours. Usually loud during peak hours when there are huge parties of friends and families, a lot of students go here. Large TV that usually streams sports games. Bar area is small, but nice if you’re dining alone, you can watch them make the sushi before your eyes. I recommend you do this at least once in your life, it’s a good experience. Price: Lunch — $ 14 bucks. Dinner — $ 20. I recommend dinner, even if it’s pricier they offer a more broad selection of rolls and I think the rolls are tastier too. Still affordable for AYCE quality sushi. Overall: Raku is my favorite AYCE Sushi Bar in the Sac area. I’ve been coming here since my undergrad and I’ve never had a bad food or service experience. Tip: Be sure to eat all of your sushi, I’ve heard stories of them charging for leftover sushi. Also, try the fried ice cream at some point, it’s pretty satiating.

Sad to say I’ve never tried any of the AYCE sushi places in Davis before, despite many of my friends(and even my fiancé) going there for school. I know, I know… who am I? On the way back from Reno, my fiancé wanted to stop by at his old stomping grounds to have Nami’s, but we got intercepted by my best friend who suggested we stop in Sacramento for Raku since he lives there. It looked pretty similar to Nami’s, so we thought, why not! When we got there at 12:20 it was already fully seated. and they had only just opened at noon! But the wait wasn’t too bad… maybe about 15 – 20 minutes for a table of 4. Service was pretty decent, considering I expected chaos from an AYCE place where orders are taken. Be forewarned that if you order tea, it’s an extra $ 2/person, but they give you a pitcher with extra refillable tea in it. We ordered 3 times and the waitress was pretty quick to come get our orders too. Dragon roll was standard and good; red dragon was like a tuna version of dragon roll instead of unagi. The spider roll was also good. I felt a lot of the rolls were variations of the same things/ingredients and a note that they only come in about 4 – 6 slices per order, but you can always just order more. I couldn’t tell the difference some of the orders after awhile. I also ordered nigiri(comes in 2/order) with salmon, hamachi, unagi, and tamago. The salmon tasted the best to me, even though my favorite is usually hamachi. Deep fried oysters were kinda meh. Too fried and too fishy-tasting – this was probably my least favorite. Gyoza was standard and edamame didn’t have much taste. They have a little bar with some appetizers like pickled cucumbers and seaweed, but if your stomach isn’t that large, I’d skip that and skip soup to save space! It’s not the BEST sushi in the world, but for $ 13.95 per person for lunch, it’s a steal considering you can eat so many rolls and most sushi places charge that or more for just one roll! I believe the dinner menu is closer to $ 20pp but they have more variety perhaps? In any case, we were stuffed and I passed out on the drive home =P

Hubby’s go to AYCE sushi joint in Sac, he’s been going here for some time now and have gotten the rest of the family addicted as well. Always greeted by smiling servers and after being seated always asked what we want to drink right away. We go up to the small bar and serve yourself on a small plate of the following choices: edamame, sunomono cucumber salad, wakame(seaweed) salad a bean sprout tofu peanut salad and you basic pickles ginger and wasabi. There are 39 sushi items plus they recently added 2 from dinner side menu which are the crazy roll and the capital roll, 8 appetizers and 3 desserts to choose from. We always get the phoenix roll: shrimp tempura, soft shell crab, masago and unagi sauce. Volcano roll: deep fried roll with tuna, jalapeño, crab meat, and spicy house sauce. Mexicano: tempera shrimp, spicy crab meat, topped with masago andunagi sauce. and Chicken katsu with sweet sauce. Everything is made to order, 4 pieces to a order, so its a good way of getting to try everything without killing your tummy and nothing goes to waste. Always packed for lunch but always great service here and they’re really fast at getting orders out. Some times they miss a thing or give a extra things because it’s different servers taking your order sometime. Lunch is only $ 14 and Dinner is only $ 18!!! You will never leave hungry or unsatisfied for sures, defiantly highly recommend this place. I have yet to try their dinner but willing to come back some time and check it out. :)
