Don’t even try to get anything around closing time. They close up shop early. Went in they shut us down real quick. I guess everyone wants to go home early.

I don’t know why the rating is so low! It’s a bertuccis. The food is great for a quick non fancy bite at a chain restaurant. You don’t go to bertuccis to expect a gourmet meal so don’t rate it like one. It’s great for what it is. There’s lots of seating so I’ve never had to wait and the service has always been fast

We’ve been customers for at least 15 years, and the quality is going down the drain. They often forget to add requested ingredients, and they skimp on some basics. The pizzas are blah, with huge edges left uncovered. The last few times the dough was burned on one end and raw on the other end. Get your act together!

I love Bertucci’s but this location has the worst service and food preparation. There is a negative vibe of poorly motivated employees. The food came poorly executed as though no one cared about the final product. This is the only location where I’ve experienced this as any other location has been nothing short of great.

This review is only for this specific location as I enjoy other bettuccis. I frequented this location many times and I have yet to get a decent visit, we always had issues with service, on more than one occasion i had to go to the counter to ask for a refill or for something extra that we wanted. And our food almost every time gets messed up, from wrong salad to wrong pizzas, even they would not accommodate a change on the chicken Marsala to have mashed potatoes instead of roasted potatoes they said they do not do that. I now visit the location in Needham which seems to have a much better management

Visited for pick up today. Delicious food, and rolls. And everything was ready on time, and they were organized. Plus, the restaurant is large and always clean. And the pick up guy was very funny and friendly. Great restaurant in the Chestnut Hill area. **-1 star, because after I called to speak with the manager, because my receipt says ‘W Roxbury, MA2132′, even though it’s supposed to be ‘Chestnut Hill, MA2467′. And he wasn’t very friendly and say he could do nothing about it. If you want good, friendly customer service, go to another Bertucci’s(Newtonville isn’t very far…)** 4 stars

Just had the worst steak dinner ever at this location. The steak was so salty that I know I’ll be drinking water the rest of the evening to quench my thirst. The potatoes were just slapped on the plate in a most unappetizing manner along with very unappealing broccoli. On the plus side, the rolls were delicious and hot, the salad was okay and so was the coke. The waitress was the best part. Not her fault the steak dinner was awful. can’t quite understand why this place is still open. service is mediocre at best and the staff is incredibly trashy. our waitress was too busy trying to pick up the truck driver sitting diagnal from us and we kept having to flag her down for drinks, apps, etc. it was like we were inconveniencing her. will not come back. and the food was gross.

I’m giving this place one star just because the entrees(shrimp and lobster risotto & some tortellini dish) my boyfriend and I ordered were quite good, but other than that everything else was an awful experience. My boyfriend and I decided to come here for valentines day after canceling our reservation in the north end due to the snowstorm. Upon walking in, the place was not busy at all and there were plenty of staff around but no one bothered to seat us right away. It took someone about 5 minutes to come seat us at a table and I even heard her mumble«well, apparently no one works here» — strike 1. Then when we received our rolls, they were cold and tough, probably from sitting out for a while– strike 2. After our waitress brought our soup and salad, she informed us that she was going on break and someone else was going to take over for her so we said ok. Everything started out good, our new server seemed nice and attentive until the place got busy. She completely forgot about us, didn’t refill our waters at all, and the whole time I was watching her to see if i can get her attention, she was only serving her new tables-strike 3. After 45 minutes of waiting for her to give us attention, she finally decided to check up on us and kept saying how crazy the place got which was understandable but not a valid excuse to ignore us for a long time when we’ve been there for a while. My boyfriend and I got so sick of being in that place we decided to get our dessert packed to go and leave asap. Believe me, my boyfriend is a very very patient person so the fact that he was so appalled by the way we were ignored is something. I don’t think I ever want to go back to this location.

I love it. They give you warm bread to start you you won’t be starving. The service is always friendly. The food taste great I would recommend the chicken parm. Some times the wait staff are a little odd and impatient but over all it’s a good experience. Written by a 9 year old :)

I love this location — very old school. There are always spots in the parking lot. Location can get busy — even on a weekday we had to wait a few minutes for a table for 4. The service is usually really great, and we had the best server ever at a Bertucci’s at our last visit. There is nothing good or bad to note about the food — it’s Bertucci’s and they do a good job most of the time. I have no idea how people are getting bad service. I’ve been going there for years(dine-in and take-out) and my wife’s family has been going since she was a kid. I’ve never experienced any rudeness or meanness. In fact, our last visit we had probably the best service ever had at a Bertucci’s!

Rolls good, pizza good, service = horrible. I walked in with a group of 5 total on a dead! Wednesday night. Honestly, there were 3 other tables there, and what seemed like an extensive amount of waitstaff. Our server, Alex(male), was very friendly initially but as the night went on he got slower and less and less attentive. It took over a half an hour to get our food, and he brought the two salads for my friends 5 minutes before the calzone and two pizzas my other friends had ordered. After everyone finished eating, it took another 10 minutes for him to come box everything up, another 10 minutes for that(thank GOD he dropped the check then). With 5 people, we normally itemize things, so I calculated everything and wrote the amounts on the back of the receipt. One of my friends paid cash, and Alex was incredibly concerned that he was going to get short tipped. He even ASKED us if we planned on tipping him more on the cards. Ridiculous. We shouldn’t have tipped him anything. It was an abysmal experience that took almost two hours on a very very slow night that should have been a very quick and easy dinner! I will not be returning to this location. Need to get my Bertucci’s roll fix elsewhere.

Great for families with little kids. The waitstaff were very friendly and accommodating and did a good job keeping the kids’ food coming at appropriate times. The ice cream included in the kids’ lunch meal was a hit. The complimentary salad for lunch was sizeable and tastes pretty good. Pizza was standard fare — nothing fancy but again it was good enough for kids.

Just so much«eh.» I remember when Bertucci’s was passable, even decent. I would occasionally look forward to going with my family. But that was a long time ago and they’ve been coasting and relying on people loving their rolls(which have also gone downhill) for too long. This location is fine. Just…“whatever, fine.” Decent parking. Really, this is all you need to say about Bertucci’s. I was there for dinner tonight and just can’t manage to care enough about my experience to write anything interesting. Two stars for okay lasagna, and a salad my friend liked, but otherwise a whole steaming mess of «who cares?»

A belated review from a couple of Sunday’s ago(sorry!) for Alex(female), our nice server that night. Three of us arrived for what we thought would be a relaxing and somewhat-quick dinner, but it turned into a longer meal since one of my friends had her son with her(her husband was supposed to come and pick him up… but he was about an hour late). We had about a dozen rolls, a great meal(I’ve been eating at Bertucci’s for about half my life, and only JUSTNOW discovered that they have calzones(!!!) and Alex brought everything we needed. Thanks! :)
