The food is good. Drinks are good as well. The only problem is the phone number is wrong. Phone number has been wrong for three years now. They actually changed management, got a new number and that’s wrong too. Little things like this become a big turn off.

I don’t like to write bad reviews and as such I won’t write one this time despite the 2 star ratings. This place has GREAT potential but falls so short of a good restaurant for several reasons. The food is good– not bad but could stand for improvement. The ambiance is a good old college boy try… there is a bar which seems more suited for a bachelor pad… the GINORMOUS tv —-hmmm — coming even from a latina’s perspective, trying to enjoy a meal with the defending sounds of telenovelas is impossible. While catering to locals is always good business practice, the perception of this restaurant being something other than a local neighborhood spot is given because of its efforts in its exterior design and attempt of a modern interior décor. The interior design is a makeshift ikea booth and table setting. Could stand for modification to make itself a very good restaurant.

This place gets a solid 3.5 but the sangria gave them the extra .5!!! I need to know what kind of wine is used. Has an authentic yet strong taste without the fruit. The food was average. I had chicken rice and white beans. My friend had beef salad and rice and loved it. This doesn’t look like a place that would have alcohol. It’s pretty small but cute. Cash only establishment. The owner is new was very accommodating. They will have hookah and karaōke, and they will host parties. I will go again for hookah and sangria! Overall not bad. If you like Peruvian food then it’s worth a try. I’m not the biggest fan but it was a groupon deal and wanted to give it a shot.

Ok, I want to start out by saying that I’m not Peruvian or Spanish in any way so my review is going to purely be based on my experience and quality with no prior association or bias. With that said, there are some pros and cons to my experience. On the pro side: the location is a good one, located right across the street from a mini parking lot and in close proximity to stores etc. The inside décor was reminiscent of a cozy lounge/bar with black furniture and bursts of color representing the culture, which is always nice when you’re looking for an authentic experience. The Waiter although a little shy was helpful and very knowledgeable of the menu, another plus. The drinks were definitely cheap $ 5.50 for Sangria and $ 5.50 for a glass of wine, great prices! On the con side: the prices on the menu were very cheap which was good, $ 6 for apps and anywhere from $ 10-$ 14 for entrees HOWEVER when the Waiter told us about the«lunch specials» and we ordered the«specials» we were surprised to see on our bill that the specials were $ 20 each. Pretty surprising since the rest of the menu was much cheaper in part due to the small portions. Also when we ordered the appetizer special which we were told would be cheaper than the normal appetizers on the menu we noticed the bill noted $ 15. I’m not sure if this is because we had a Groupon and sometimes certain establishments try to markup the prices to make up for the Groupon amount or perhaps the«specials» were just normally inflated but $ 20 for a lunch portion when all of the other lunch portions on the menu are $ 10-$ 14 is a little steep for a café. My entrée was pretty good, the strips of beef were tender but my Mother couldn’t finish her shrimp and pasta dish,(she has a thing about eating shrimp that have not been deveined). As for the apps, the chicken wonton was pretty good and the potato with chicken was good as well. Wasn’t thrilled with the fish portion or the beef because the beef in the appetizer was a little tough(unsure if it was the grade of beef or the preparation so I’ll let that slide.) Would I go again? Maybe. But it wouldn’t be on my to do list anytime soon.

Came here because just cuz it’s in west orange close to home. Happen to find it on groupon spend 20 for 40 worth of food. Server was nice. Son of the owner. He has to be right? Knowing its business and customer service. I had the appetizer mussels and my fiancée had da fried wonton. The price was only 6 ish and I must say we devoured it in seconds. Sangria was 5bucks and I’ve tasted a lot of sangrias mostly watered down where the wine can’t be tasted but their sangria was top notch. I had the Jalea where is seafood. Mixed and da fish was soft and I can taste how fresh and good it was. Good portion I couldn’t finish it so I brought it home. Rice and beans not included on the entrée and its 2 bucks each. My fiancée had da Peruvian rice w. beef and as per he” good beef tender juicy” being that he is a powerlifter weights 210 lbs, he stated it was good portion and he was full. Desert we had the Peruvian cookie. I’m not a fond of cookie so I didn’t like it much but, y fiancée did. He finished it all. Oh and they are licensed bar so order drinks is a must. Now the downside. I wish they had more variety on the menu. More food to choose. Whole fried fish. Steak maybe, The other side of the menu I could barely see being the font is black and the background is grey. i noticed when I sat down they had a board w. their specials. Knowing I was new to the place, I barely could see what the special was. Maybe write it different color chalk? But make it noticeable. It would be best also of the waiter would mention their specials. Over all. Service was attentive as we were the only ones there on a Sunday night. Yes. I would recommend this place to my coworkers and friends. And this will be my usual spot. :)

I first went to this restaurant when they were located on Broad St. In Bloomfield. The food was incredible. I have a Puerto Rican mother and a Peruvian Step Father(for 37yrs) so I was eager to try the Puerto Rican/Japanese/Peruvian food and I felt like I was at my parents house during Thanksgiving… I ordered las papas ala guancaina. which is the potatoes slightly boiled with a raw egg and peppery sauce poured over them, I also had a refreshing Chicha Morada drink which is a purple juice made of of corn, I also had the Lomo saltado which is sliced beef strips sauted with onions and potatoes or french fries, and I tried a Japanese noodle dish and a few sushi rolls. EVERYTHING was delicious… I highly reccommend this inexpensive, satisfying, little gem and I look forward to spending more time eatting here. I’m making reservations to bring Mom here for her birthday in a few weeks. Thank You and Keep up the good work.

Ate with my family last week. The food was good, but not the best. I love peruvian food so my expectations were higher. The restaurant looked very cozy and nicely decorated. The ceviche mixto was good, but I am use to bigger portions at other peruvian locations. Papa a la huancaina were on target with what I am used to minus the spice. The chicken combo my mom ordered was at a good price, but was shocked at the inni minni size of the leg and thigh. I guess you get what you paid for with that option. The beef arroz chaufa was ok. Could have been better. The beef was too hard. The presentation of the meal on the plate was nice, but what good is that if it doesnt taste as good as it looks. Overall, the meals are fairly priced, but other peruvian restaurants I have gone too are priced the same.

Last night 4 of us ate at this fairly new(4 months old) restaurant. It’s in an unlikely location, the middle of downtown West Orange. The food is wonderful! I’ve never eaten Peruvian food so I had no previous expectations. We had Causa Rellena de Camerones, which was mashed potatoes layered with shrimp and avocados, Papa O Yuca a La Ocopa, fried cassava served with Huacatay sauce, Seco de Res Con Frijol, a braised beef stew, Arroz Chaufa de Mariscos which is peruvian fried rice with seafood on top, and Lomo Saltado, fresh beef tenderloin sauteed with onions tomatoes and mixted with soy sauce. All the dishes were just wonderful! The place has a cozy feel and it was very well decorated. My one criticism would be the seating. My wife and I were seated on a low banquet which was made of hard wood and very uncomfortable. The addition of some cushions would help. They do have a liquor license and they serve wine and beer. The most amazing thing about this place is the prices which were very resonable. The most expensive thing on the menu is $ 12.95! This place is a real find in a funky location. I’m surprised it wasn’t packed.
