Waste of money!!! The waiting, the food, the service, etc bad. My order tasted a little sour like gone bad sour, tasted burnt, salty and it left my lips rly buttery and greasy. The shrimp in my dish and sisters had a weird texture .My water tasted weird as if it had grease. To me it tasted like pasta water but to my cousin and sister it was like plant water due to the fact it had a black thing floating on the bottom of it which it looked like wood. On the way to our car we all started getting noxious and we were all gagging. I only give it one star because the boba was ok and the popcorn chicken was decent .I wouldn’t even think twice in coming back here again .Also it was amusing seeing other ppl drink the water and seeing there reaction.

If I could only give them no stars I would !!! Worst service ever! Water was disgusting ! And I can even start with the food ! Dumplings didn’t taste as great. My friend got a chow main with shrimp and that tasted like if it was burned it was so greasy that when you slurped the noodle you can taste the oil. There was 3 waiters and it took over 30 minutes too serve us. We didn’t even finish our food we just had a taste of it basically that’s how bad it was !!! The only thing I would give them a star is on the popcorn chicken ! NEVERCOMINGHEREAGAIN ! 50 $ down the drain for 3 people !

This place spends more time worrying about the décor than the quality of the food. Don’t get the popcorn chicken and the fried pork. Both are subpar quality. However, the teas are good. Come for the drinks, dessert, and nothing else. Also, the prices are outrageous. Money is better spent at Din Tai Fung.

Truly disappointed in this place. Food and especially the service was not pleasing whatsoever. When my sister, niece, and my babies walked in, we noticed it was a bit stuffy and humid inside the restaurant. We weren’t greeted immediately and it took sometime for us to be acknowledged and seated. When they finally got to us, we settled in BUT it took another long time for us to be greeted by a server! From what I noticed, about 5 parties were about done with their dinner, and another wave of patrons were coming in. About 10 minutes passed, and no one came by our table to take our order or offer any water! I then looked around and saw 3 of the restaurant’s servers back in the boba/dessert area taking iPhone pics of one another and basically clowning around not paying attention to their guests! However I did notice 1 server hustling his tail off, cleaning tables, putting back menus– what the 3 other clowns weren’t doing! I then waited patiently till the guy went back to drop off the dishes. I calmly walked up to the register and asked to speak with the manager, kicker was — he says he’s the manager! Ha! I was pissed and then told him that we’ve been waiting to put in our order and pointed at his 3 employees that have been taking pictures all this time! He apologized and tells me he noticed, but was super nice about it! What?! They didn’t get reprimanded?! Anyway, one of the servers that came to our table who was part of that circus was the SUPERVISOR! She knew we were pissed and didn’t do anything to alleviate what was going on. We just knew not to make a bigger deal about it due to not wanting our food to be compromised, which there is a high possibility. As for the food — not at all good! My sis and I ordered the tofu kimchi udon, Hawaiian fried rice, and my niece got the beef hot pot. For dessert, had the lavender milk tea boba and a taro red bean shaved ice… total $ 72!!! Soooo not f’ing worth it! Not sure if it’s b/c it was the experience overall… nah, it was pretty bad! Should’ve left in the first place and went with my gut instinct. Tip: don’t go and better off going somewhere else!

I know Guppy House is known for their desserts and shaved ice, but unfortunately, I did not get either of those during my trip here. My party and I were pretty hungry, so we decided to get food here. From what I was told, their minced pork and their popcorn chicken with rice was pretty good, so I ended up eating the popcorn chicken with rice. For its price, it was a pretty decent amount of food. I really enjoyed their popcorn chicken and I had a bite of my brother’s minced pork, and that was really good too. I don’t think that their focus is on food my any means, but with the food I did try, it wasn’t too bad at all. I wouldn’t say my first choice to eat food is at Guppy House, but if my friends wanted to come here to eat, I wouldn’t mind one bit.

The teas are really the only thing that my family goes there for nowadays, as we’ve found the food to be hit or miss. Popcorn chicken seems to be a staple for tea/boba shops, so that’s safe. As for the other items, they’re so-so. Staff is mostly polite and courteous and wait times for seating are usually short, but the wait time for food can be pretty long. All in all, it’s a good place for some tea/boba and popcorn chicken, but I wouldn’t go for their noodles and rice dishes.

I guess they specialize in boba drinks and shaved ice because the food that I tried was awful. We ordered«egg rolls» for the appetizer which looked and tasted more like a deep fried hotdog. That came with a side of soggy cucumbers. The dumpling noodle soup was what I expected after trying that… very bland broth with pork dumplings that didn’t look cooked all the way. They also tasted sweet… I’ve had good dumplings and these were awful. That bowl of soup came with a weird side of more soggy cucumbers and cold corn(which confused me). I also tried the beef soup and it tasted a lot worse than it looked. The atmosphere was off-putting. I also felt like I was in a cafeteria because of how loud it was. All in all, I have never been more excited to go home and eat my tv dinner!

Very tropical ambience, true to the name of Guppy House. Great place for a group of friends for chatting or hanging out during brunch. Four of us shared the Nutella Brick Toast, Taro and Red Bean Shaved Ice, and a standard Boba Milk Tea. The Shaved Ice is ginormous, so definitely don’t attempt to eat it with just 2 people.

Came in here because I was craving shaved ice and the photos looked good. I ordered the mixed fruit and was told that they were out of mango; minus 1 star. I asked for pineapple as a replacement and was told it would it would be an up-charge even though it wasn’t my fault they didn’t have mango; minus 1 star. Lastly, the water tastes like it was poured from a garden hose; minus 1 star.

I’m so happy there’s a Guppy’s in West Covina because I’m in the area sometimes. A must here is popcorn chicken. I wanted to be adventurous once and I tired the Hawaiian style popcorn chicken and it was a huge mistake. It was topped with sauce similar to orange chicken, but with popcorn chicken. It was a total disappointment. Just stick with the basics here popcorn chicken, brick toast, and shaved ice.

Their music playlist is always on point. A great go-to for popcorn chicken. Slow service though due to lack of staff.

Service tonight was not very good. Very Disappointed. We sat down before this two ladies beside us. Waitress took our orders at the same time but the gals got their food first … One has same order as mine, minced pork with rice. Here’s the bad service part, I have to stand up and go to the counter to follow up on our order. No apologies. Than we got our orders after 2o minutes of wait. Had my timer on. Than I had to go back to counter to ask for soup spoon. She did not even follow up to see if we need anything else. I’m a regular there and love having my lunch meetings. Staff tonight showed very poor attitude and not friendly. If I didn’t know better I would not recommend this place!

It’s been a while since I had a face-to-face meet-up with my service leadership mentee, so we met up at the halfway point between Rosemead and Pomona. Guppy House was it. We arrived around 7:45 pm, in time for dinner. The place was about 35% occupied, thus no wait. She ordered the kimchi udon while I had my usual popcorn chicken with rice. Her udon came out pretty timely, while my food did not. She slowly ate, I waited. After some time and trying to be polite, she continued to eat slowly. I still waited. What part of my meal was holding up the process?! I flagged down a server, who said it should be coming out shortly. 2 minutes later, it did. Still the same popcorn chicken with rice I’ve had before at other Guppy Houses. The server brought the spicy powder on the side since they forgot to put it in when cooking(I had ordered it medium spicy). Popcorn chicken with rice, unlike popcorn chicken the snack, comes with white rice, potato salad, cucumbers and corn. A filling meal that you can dust off in one sitting(I tried to be good and took 40% of it home for a future meal). Overall, food was okay, service was okay, and parking is plentiful unless it’s rush time for 85 Degree food runs.

I only come here cause it’s super close to my home. The service is a hit or a miss. The food is okay food, nothing amazing about it. After trying out many different type of food on their menu, today was the first time i actually enjoy a dish. The Hawaiian popcorn chicken is good. Only complaints is that the rice that is being serve with it, is super hard/dry. After multiple time of coming here, we finally get to sit in the patio. Every time we come, it’s only if we order Togo, we could sit on the patio. *Oh, and they always forget to include the Unilocal check in on the bill! So remind them.

Great place to sit and talk. Just go for dessert, or for an entire meal. It’s all good! The atmosphere is really pleasant. Lots of natural light and plenty of live plants inside. The staff is very pleasant and personable too. It’s right off the 10 and Citrus in West Covina, so it makes it a good place to meet when both parties are coming from different parts of town. I’m a huge fan of the shaved ice. Even the smallest«to-go» size is still plenty for one or even two people.

This guppy house is conveniently located off the 10 freeway off the citrus exit. I wanted to stop by to get lunch and boba. We were greeted and seated immediately. There is a nice patio area outside where we sat with my dog. The beef noodle soup is quite large and be shared between two people. We also ordered the usual brick toast that my boyfriend loves to death ! We had chocolate syrup covered with vanilla ice cream with the brick toast. The combination of warm brick toast with a scoop of ice cream was divine! I’m not a sweet tooth but I enjoyed a couple bites. Overall the food and service at this guppy house location was much better than at the other guppy house I’ve experienced. I will definitely come again, especially for the free beer with purchase of beer promotion offered when you check in!

I usually have a really good experience at guppy house, but this location was just a little too understaffed for me. My boyfriend and I walked in and we weren’t greeted by anyone. We sat there for over 15mins. Our server did apologize to us for the wait but there really should be more people especially on a Saturday. I did enjoy my meal on the upside. I had the very spicy tofu and beef hotpot.

This review is strictly for the boba only, but I do hope in the future to follow up with a review about the food as from visually observing that while I waited it looked amazing! I selected the taro slush and added mini boba along with pudding. The taro slush was perfectly sweetened to my liking(I like it a bit more sweeter than I have found it come at most places) and this is without even requesting that. The mini boba I can say guppy house does not scrimp on as there was so much in every sip and that was a plus. A nice pin point for me was that they weren’t too hard or weren’t too mushy so at least the boba is as it should be. On high recommendation I added pudding and that definitely adds a whole other layer of taste to the drink as well. All in all I will be back and maybe next time both the food and the shaved ice will get in my bellaaaayyyyy!

Just came to this location for the first time. From the outside it looks very spacious, but after entering it wasn’t as spacious as it looked. After entering you have to wait to be seated and there was 4 workers and maybe 4 – 5 tables taken and it took like 10 minutes before getting a table, when there was plenty of empty tables. So I had to stand there awkwardly while the staff, just mindlessly walked back and forth. So the staff is completely inattentive and its extremely difficult getting there attention throughout our whole experience. When our waitress came to take our order. We ordered: Oreo Mocha Smoothie Rose Milk Tea Popcorn Chicken Mild Mapo Tofu Spam Fried Rice $ 11.99!!! [so overpriced] The waitresses there have a bit of attitude and seem like they are in a bad mood. Which makes it completely uncomfortable to be ordering with them. There was also 2 waiters and they were a bit better still as inattentive as everyone else, but at least they were smiling and didn’t have any attitude. My friends Rose Milk Tea was filled with petals, and my Oreo Mocha Smoothie was fine, would have been been if it had less Mocha. Popcorn Chicken Mild was the only decent dish we had. Mild wasn’t too spicy and it came with Sweet and Sour Sauce which was very good. Mapo Tofu was HORRIBLE, the sauce was too thick and the flavor was off. I usually get this at the other location which makes it better. That dish was completely not edible. Spam Fried Rice tasted like regular fried rice you can get at Panda Express with a few pieces of Spam. The Spam wasn’t too flavorful either it was low sodium or the boiled out all the flavor so it was tasteless. At the end, trying to get the attention of the servers to get our check was impossible! 3 of the servers walked right past us as we were trying to wave them down and even calling«Excuse me!» to get their attention. The other customers heard us and giggled, so that was a little embarrassing. I thought it would be easier to just call the store phone to tell them, which is completely ridiculous for a customer to have to do that. Overall it seems like the customer service and quality of Guppys to be falling down hill fast! June 27th Saturday afternoon ish
