Be very careful here. Go with an open mind and don’t expect a world class steak unless you like thin cut steaks. Surprising because the cold seafood platters are on point. My wife ordered scallop appetizer– 3 bacon wrapped scallops Came out gross looking. Sent back. Brought back out. Charged $ 30 for that appetizer. Yes $ 30 for 3 scallops. Thinking it might have been revenge move. Someone please message me if they get charged a lower amount. I cannot vouch or recommend this place based on nose dive during our last experience. Also had no problem getting a reservation for 10. Pretty sure the clock is about to run out on this place.

Went to Wayne Steakhouse .I had been there once before a few years back and I was not impressed then. We got a gift card and figured we would give it another chance. Let me also begin by saying I have been to good, Great & even Fantastic Steak houses such as Charlie’s, Ruth Chris, Old Homestead, Del Frisco’s & Peter Luger Just to name a few so I like to believe I know the way a meal should be made and progress. They bill themselves as a Peter Luger Style Restaurant because the owner was a former waiter there. So I guess that means you can operate a Steakhouse by copying their menu pretty much to the letter. Your even get Peter Luger’s Steak sauce on the table . When you get there you will find it nestled between a pizza place and under a pool hall with a very small parking lot. Once inside we were quickly greeted by several servers. We were asked if we had a reservation even though there were only 2 tables being used. Fortunately I called ahead, but that did not really seem to matter since the place was virtually empty at 6:30 pm. This is a BYOB so drinks are limited and our drink order was handled quickly by one server, then we had another server come over and offer to read the specials. He seemed to read the specials as if he had another table to get to(that was not the case) He also had a very heavy accent which at the speed he read them there was no way we could tell what the heck he was saying., and just like that he was gone.*poof* like he fell through a hole in the floor. We went over the menu and decided what to have. We put in our order .They put bread on the table that looked like it came from a supermarket bakery and trust me I know the difference .With the prices they charge there is no way this type of bread should even be considered to be served. We choose the Calamari for an app.(not my choice), but it came out fast and was not bad, but the sauce looked like it was jar sauce. I could be wrong but it was like nuclear red in color. A house salad came with the meal which was done family style. There were 3 of us and there was barely enough salad for all of us and the tomatoes were old and mealy. I forgot to mention something I found strange. When we sat at the table there were full size plates on the table as well as mis-matched silverware & steak knives. We realized the these plates were to be used as our bread plates & as our appetizer plate in addition to being our salad plate. I found all of this odd because at any decent restaurant you usually have separate plates at least for the bread or the salad, but there was not even a salad fork. Not even Peter Luger’s is this gruff. The salad came out and before we were done with the 3 forkfuls we all had the Appetizer was out & within a few minutes of finishing the Appetizer our main course came out. We had the Creamed Spinach, The German Potatoes & the steak for 3 which looked like 2 Porterhouse steaks cut about an inch think. The side dishes were $ 9.95 each and the steak for 3 was $ 151.00. I found the Spinach was bland with little flavor. Potatoes were a little better. The steak was pre-cut and served family style which is another Peter Luger’s serving style. I can not say much about the steak .It was tender. Flavor was ok. It was not a Premium Steak, but none of this was a premium meal. The cost puts this place on the list with the restaurants I listed above, but food quality it does not even come close. There are many other places to get a steak that are cheaper and much better. It is obvious that many other people feel the same way because during our whole meal only 2 other table came in to be seated. It was empty when we got there and it was empty when we left .For what I mentioned in this review the bill came out to be $ 206($ 247 with tip) None of this was the servers is just not a premium experience. The experience does not come close to the cost.

Ok the seafood platter is amazing nice lobster. Amazing colossal shrimp. Jumbo crab meat. Now the service was skittish. And the steak was a horror show. We ordered it medium rare came out med well somewhat steamed and zero flavor. It was also very thin. It is what it is. The steak had zero flavor.

Probably the best steak in the area. Excellent aides and the crab stuffs mushrooms were excellent. The baked potatoes were so big they needed their own zip code. The steak for three could easily feed four and we will be back.

I was really impressed by this place! I actually called to see what their dress code was and the girl on the phone was so chill and said its casual, you can wear a hat, blah blah. And when we first got there the place was totally unassuming, like underneath a billiards and was nothing special from the outside, so I assumed it was a laid back kind of steakhouse, nope!.. Walking inside it was pretty obvious they were going for upscale dining, It was like a notch under a Peter Lugers or Ruth Chris. And the prices were FANCY. Definitely expect to drop some dough here. For a party of 4 we got two strips of bacon as an appetizer to share, all ordered steak(3 of us ordered the filet and 1 ordered the sirloin), we also shared a holy moly dessert which was HUGE(ice cream sundae and sooo good!) we spent over $ 300. Granted it was worth it, but just wasn’t expected considering the conversation I had with the hostess. The steaks were so tender and were cooked perfectly, they also came out sizzling which was a bonus. The bacon was take it or leave it, I’ve had better at other steakhouses but it was still bacon so still good! Overall, this was definitely a 4 star restaurant bordering on 5! I would highly recommend for a good steak & a good time. Oh and on a weird note, we heard(but didn’t see) a fight break out between a couple of cooks in the back. Definitely tussling around, yelling and people trying to break it up, it was almost closing time so we were the only people left but still really awkward but kind of funny at the same time…

The best steak in the tri-state area, there is no reason to order a steak anywhere else! If you want to be treated like a king by the staff, this is the place to go. Besides the food being amazing, the restaurant is amazing the owner is amazing and the staff likes to be at work. The owner introduces himself to everyone and treats everyone like they are family. Great job!

Where do I begin. The food was just OK at best. The surf and turf was 100 dollars per plate. Now I don’t mind paying that $ for great food. But unfortunately that wasn’t the case. Then immediately after finishing our meal 3 separate servers came to the table withing 90 seconds trying to take our dessert order. After finally ordering desert from the 4th waiter in 2 minutes a manager came over and stated to our server«hurry up and get them out of here» right in front of us. Then when our desert was brought to the table the check was dropped simultaneously. Are u kidding me??? We spent a lot of money and were completely disrespected. They will never get my money again and anyone looking for a great steakhouse with great service THISISN’T YOURPLACE! Stay away!!!

Food is high quality, but pricy for what it is. This may be due to the fact that it’s BYOB, but even sides are the highest price I’ve seen for a steakhouse. Food is properly cooked and the strawberry and whipped cream desert is a nice touch.

We’ve been here couple of times but sorry to say, i think they are getting worse… First time i was here they steaks were cook perfectly and seasoned perfectly, but the last time i went, it was so salty… i can’t taste anything but salt… it was pretty bad… I mean you can’t really go wrong with the porterhouse, but i guess too much salt would… Anyway… i understand that everyone need to order something…(they won’t allow sharing as for someone not ordering anything and just share your steak.) but when we were not ordering any side… the waiter looked at us like«are you serious??»… hmm… yes i am serious when i said no we are good… Anyway… i am sure their steak is still good… they aged well, and maybe just that one time they have too much salt… and i shouldn’t let that hinder me to go again… right?

good solid high end steakhouse, great décor and high end quality eats. Not cheap but the prices make sense.

The steaks were pretty good, as were the rest of the apps and sides. We had a large party of 12 — 15 for dinner at 8:30. We arrived on time, and when I walked in there was no table set up and waiting for us. After half of the staff rallied to put together a make-shift table using a piece of plywood, and then set it with a tablecloth, we were finally seated at 9:15. Poor showing. When you’re spending $ 100+/person on dinner, the whole experience needs to be better than that. Anything I can say good about the food is forgotten because the delay threw off our night so drastically.

One of the most delicious steaks I’ve ever had! I’d compare it to Mortons but the steak was actually bigger than Mortons! Staff was great too! Constantly checking on us and clearing the table! Some of these bad reviews on here are obviously sabotage!

Best steakhouse in the northeast in terms of quality per dollar spent. Still expensive though as one would expect. Word on the street is the head chef used to be the boss man in Peter luger’s kitchen(one of the premier spots in nyc).

Lived in this area my entire life and never checked this place out until recently. I left full and happy, so Wayne Steak House gets 4 stars out of me. Food: Do yourself a favor and order the bone in filet… oh my goodness, it was amazing and delicious. I think it was the best steak I’ve ever had. Sides: mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, complimentary onion rings… all good. Apps: Oysters on the half shell were fresh and delicious. The bacon appetizer was alright, I’ve had better at other steakhouses but it was still good. The bacon wrapped scallops(which was a special of the night) was just alright as well. Similar to the bacon strip, I’ve had better but they were still decent. Dessert: HOLYMOLY. Literally, that’s what I ordered. It was an oversized hot fudge sundae with homemade whipped cream and a cherry. YUM, definitely order this. Its HUGE, so two people can easily share. Did I mention this spot is BYOB? All the more reason to love it. Reason I won’t give 5 stars is because I found it to be pricey. For a BYOB restaurant you would think you’d save a little on the bill. This bill was just as pricey as other steakhouses that weren’t BYOB. However, the pricey-ness wouldn’t deter me from coming here again. P. S. — they need more decanters for wine. When we asked for one they said all three of their decanters were being used.

Perfect steak, I had the 16oz filet mignon and my wife had a Brazilian lobster tail. We were celebrating a little. «I was cutting a medium steak with the side of my fork!» It was actually funny has the elderly host walked up after we were seated and gave us a bottle of Peter Lugers steak sauce, and said he did not like the sauce«Too sweet». I agreed; «A good steak needs a good sauce, a great steak needs nothing» We also had the well done german potatoes, «amazing», garlic asparagus«perfect», onion rings«steak house style» and house salad«very nice, too many onions». And they finish you off with SLOG«just sweetened whipped heavy cream with fresh strawberries». I do recommend a try.

The steaks are delicious! Very cramped and noisy.(At least when I was here) The service could be better but again, I was here on a very busy night. Probably the best apple strudel I ever had for dessert. VERY pricy for a BYO.

All the food I had at Wayne Steak House was delicious. From the complementary salad and onion rings to the steak for two to the coffee at the end. Steak had great flavor, cooked perfectly, and was tender. I can see why people travel from around NJ to try these steaks. FYI it is BYOB. I have to give the place three stars overall though based on the rest of the experience. I went with a table for two on a Sunday night. I went knowing about the high prices and I was fine with that assuming the food and service matched. The food did. The service didn’t. When ordering the steak for two, we asked how long was the steak aged. It wasn’t on the menu and I know it must be aged for a long time. The waiter didn’t know! He had to go to the back and check with someone. How embarrassing. The staff should know the menu, the food, and its details like the back of their hand. Other small things… Only a few tables were occupied when we arrived but we were sat at a table that had no table setting on it. It’s a little awkward to sit at a table and have them set it while you are seated at it. I could have sat at any of the other 15 tables that had been set or waited 2 minutes. Also the lighting above our table from the wall lamp was so strong it felt like we were under an interrogation spot light. Overall a dinner for two with the steak for two, one side, and dessert cost around $ 200. The food was delicious however the level of service didn’t match the price tag or food. I would only go back if someone else was buying.

My first visit there was last night. It was a special occasion for my husband and I, so we decided to dine there based on the recommendation of a friend(we were a party of 3, we brought our daughter with us). When we walked in, the restaurant was freezing! No joke, it had to be 60 degrees in there, tops. There were about 6 little portable space heaters throughout the place, that were doing no good. All three of us had to leave our winter coats on the entire time we were there, and we noticed other people doing the same. One party even walked in and left. Because I had heard great things about the food, we decided to stay. Not until we were leaving did a manager explain to us that the heating unit on the roof broke about two weeks ago, and they have not been able to get the heat fixed yet. It was so uncomfortable dining in these arctic conditions! You’d think management would at least offer the diners some sort of apology… free coffee perhaps? The décor leaves a lot to be desired. It felt like a pop-up restaurant. Very basic, and stark. Something to add a little warmth to the place would be nice. The wait staff was wonderful. Very attentive and pleasant. I especially liked the older gentleman who brings your bread and steak sauce to the table — he’s a gem! I have no complaints about the food, other than it is quite pricey, but I knew that before I went. The french onion soup was delicious — not salty at all(which french onion soup often is), and the cheese on top was perfectly browned and very tasty. My husband had the clams casino, which he enjoyed. The filet mignon was tender and cooked perfectly. The garlicky broccoli and german potatoes were also delicious. The schlag(whipped cream) that accompanied my dessert of key lime pie was even better than the pie! Absolutely scrumptious. I’m still up in the air about whether I will eat here again. The food and wait staff were wonderful, but I am truly upset about paying $ 300(including tip) to eat in my down coat and shiver the entire way through my dinner. The temperature of the restaurant and lack of any sort of apology from the management led to what should have been an excellent dining experience being just a so-so one.

So a little bird told me that there was a restaurant in New Jersey that gave you the feel and experiencing of the food at the famous Peter Luger Steak House in New York. Once I heard this, I had to try it! If I had came here randomly, I would have found out right away this was a Peter Luger-like place due to the fact that the Peter Luger sauce is on the time and once you open their menu, they publicize that people here used to work at Peter Luger. I ordered the appetizer bacon, similar to Peter Luger’s and the Porterhouse for 3, also similar to Peter Luger’s. Do not get me wrong, the bacon and porterhouse are good, well very good actually. But do they live up to par with the quality at Peter Luger?!? As you would expect, it does not. I vividly remember the appetizer bacon and steak tasting better at Peter Luger. I feel the appetizer bacon here is much smaller. The steak comes with a side of onion rings, which was not to my liking due to the onion rings being soggy, thus lacking crispiness that I was expecting. The restaurant itself is pretty small, but clean and you would absolutely miss this place if you were just looking for a place to eat. A billiard hall is on top of this restaurant. The price here is well, Peter Luger expensive to say the least. I feel that the prices are not justified by the fact that eating at Peter Luger is an experience and that aspect is lacking here. If the price was cheaper and in a better location, I would try and come here more often because the steak is very good. Maybe add a little something unique here as well, and not try to make it a complete copy of a famous restaurant.
