The food is ok, overall, but the service(carry out in particular) leaves a lot to be desired. After several successful and quick orders(think under 15 minute wait), I waited more than 45 minutes(in the restaurant) for my food and was berated for asking what was taking so long. However, because I understand that restaurants sometimes get busy and that newer staff get overwhelmed, I gave the restaurant a second chance. Let’s just say I learned my lesson the hard way. I walked through the January cold to pick up my order and despite hearing my order repeated correctly on the phone and again when I picked up the order, I returned home to see that my order was incorrect.(Note: The words«beef» and«chicken» are not interchangable). I called the restaurant to receive a corrected order, was put on hold for 10 minutes, and was again berated for saying anything. The restaurant ultimately agreed to send the correct order, assuring me that it would arrive in within twenty minutes. Well, let’s just say, that didn’t happen. The person answering the phone also insisted that I return the food so «the kitchen could see it.» I understand that they want to ensure that I’m not trying to scam a free meal(nevermind that I had been a regular customer for months…), but given my experience, I can’t trust that the restaurant doesn’t plan to resell the food to another customer(SERIOUS food safety issue…). I offered to show the food to the person delivering the food I should have received an hour earlier and to let him take pictures, but told the person on the phone that after that, the entrée was going in the trash. The person on the phone then yelled at me and threatened to hang up. It wasn’t until I told him I would call the DC health department that he took me seriously. No longer sure I trust this restaurant…

Decent food and good service. The Bird Nest on Fire is especially delicious and unlike anything else I’ve had — crispy kale and chicken breast in a spicy chili sauce. The vegetarian spring rolls are also tasty. If ordering for delivery, I recommend doing it online rather than over the phone — they’ve made mistakes to my order a couple times when I dialed it in.

It’s a nice little place in DC. We had the Fried Rice with Chicken and Shrimps. It’s aboundant and very tasty. You can also try the Shinga Beer that is a typical beer from Thailand. Prices are ok(USD12 aprox for a dish). Attention was also good, but the place doesn’t have wifi for customers so that’s one star less in my review giving that a lot of tourits come to the city and are looking for internet access

The ginger(Pad Khing) chicken was a very tasty blend of ginger, onions, celery and mushrooms with a nice sauce and rice. The dish was cooked and seasoned well and arrived about 10 minutes after ordering.

Met up with some friends and family that were in town. We decided to go here because it was convenient to their hotel. It was a great experience all around. I had the Bird’s Nest on Fire, and it was nothing short of amazing! Everyone in my party tastes it and they were amazed at how good it was! It’s definitely worth while!

My husband ate lunch at Thai Tanic with his staff yesterday — had the pork dish and he has been throwing up with food poison in all night. He felt sick a few hours after he ate there(and he said he didn’t feel well almost an hour after eating there) and he has been vomiting all night long. Can someone tell me what is up with your pork. It’s frightening how sick he is. He’s a physician so he knows that this is a direct result of the food. He was so sick he couldn’t eat anything after that lunch.

My expectations for non-american food in DC is pretty low anyway. This place was decent. Got take-out, wouldn’t be opposed to returning. Papaya Salad: extra spicy, not crispy fresh, but still tasty. Red Curry w/tofu: portion was small for dinner, good flavour, okay ingredients.

We were visiting DC from NY After a long day of walking we came to this place for some good thai food(as the review suggested) However, it wasn’t worth the visit We ordered tom yum soup, which was absolutely different from what we are used to, there was no taste or smell of lemongrass, it was like just a regular vegetable soup We also had chicken w/red curry, thai fried rice, drunken noodles All of them were not like what we get in NYC

The alcoholic thai ice tea was nice and strong. The curry tasted good, but the meat was overcooked an chewy.

We decided to try this place on a whim and don’t regret it. The atmosphere was very authentic and the wait staff was wonderful from the moment we walked in. The menu has a huge selection and we were both very pleased with our selection, but the portion sizes were a bit small for the price. I also thought it was a bit weird how fast the food came out. It had to be 5 minutes from the time we ordered. When the food comes out THAT fast, it concerns me a bit. Overall, if I could give 3.5 stars, I would.

(3.5 stars) The place was practically empty on the weekend lunch(people probably went to the Thai restaurant upstairs thinking it was this one… It’s very confusing). But the service was super fast and the food was solid. They offer reasonable lunch specials and the portions are a filling size. I ordered the chicken thai fried rice and had no complaints. The dish was light and tasted fresh, plus medium spicy actually had a little bit of heat to it(which I find to be pretty rare). Also, I really enjoyed the sauce for the spring rolls we ordered. It wasn’t your standard one-note dipping sauce but actually had some zest to it. The rolls themselves were fine, nothing special, but the sauce made them much more interesting.

We were at Bön Thai above this place(which is confusing in itself to have two different Thai places in the same building) but I got over that quickly as the food was very good. Very traditional and super delicious. My friend ordered The house speciality which looked hot but was more sweet than spicy. Also I’m down with tempura fried greens anyway. I had the dry egg noodles with crispy pork and ground chicken and that was delicious. So were the shrimp fried dumplings. Sounds heavy but even with beers I didn’t get bloated. But do take a walk after eating here. People I was with got sushi which they enjoyed.

I had the Tom Tum Goong and the Lemongrass Chicken Basil. I rarely finish all my food but I certainly did today. One thing for sure is that this restaurant is consistently good, I haven’t had a bad meal here yet. If you can get a table here then definitely go for it.

I was craving Thai food & this spot was nearby. I ordered the Kra-pow dish which is ground chicken, with spices, peppers and rice. It’s absolutely my favorite Thai dish. They have a pretty extensive drink selection. I asked if they could make me an Old Fashioned & it was pretty good. I’ll definitely come back here & want to try more stuff on the menu.

My go-to Thai restaurant for pad kee mao. My husband generally gets a green curry. with chicken or shrimp. We’ve eaten in the restaurant, ordered for pick-up and delivery. Consistently good, solid portion size, and not full of filler veggies like carrots and cabbage. Service is always prompt and courteous. Food 4, Service 4, Ambiance 3

Did the name of this Thai place play a large role in our decision to try it? Yes, yes it did. But that’s neither here nor there. How was the food you wonder? Ehhhhhh s’alright. I’m not entirely sure if DC is known for having good Thai places or not. Up here in NYC, we’ve got some pretty phenomenal ones, so my expectations may have been too high going in. First of all, I saw no massaman curry on the menu, so I opted to go with a yellow curry with chicken. When it arrived, my family remarked on how it looked like I ordered an appetizer. It was pretty small. It tasted fine, but there was barely any spice to hit(even though it was listed as medium spiced). My wife and friend each ordered the fried crab pad thai. Now, I don’t eat seafood, so I was bound to have negative opinions anyway, but when it arrived, it looked like fried tarantula. I kid you not. And if there’s one thing in this world I hate above all else, it’s spiders. The crab was battered and fried, and they complained that it had very little crab meat at all, and just tasted a little weird. I’m convinced it really was tarantula. ITHADEIGHTLEGS. That’s all I’m saying. The highlight of dinner was the papaya salad. Now *that* had a kick to it. Outside of that, not impressed.

I used to go to the Thai Tanic II in Columbia Heights and had been upstairs to Tsunami but never been here. Went with a friend on a Saturday late lunch. There were still a couple of table for lunch at 3 pm, and there were customers coming in constantly. I had the KANOMJEEP(Combination of crabmeat, shrimp, chicken, and water chestnuts wrapped in wonton skin then steamed and served with fried garlic and sweet soy sauce), this was yummy and the sauce was a Thai version of the sweet and sour sauce to me, I think it is Nam chim kai — a sweet syrup like chili sauce. For main course, I had the sautéed minced chicken with string beans, coconut flakes and peanuts on a bed of lettuce, cannot remember it’s Thai name, but it was delicious. For dessert, it was Mango and Sticky Rice, it was so yummy and light. Service is friendly and efficient. The transgender serving staff we had at the end had us admiring the body, I wish I had legs and chest like that!!! All in all, a great place for lunch, will go back again.

Pad Kee Mao(chicken) time! Yes, the dish I get every time I go to a new Thai restaurant. After eating so many dishes of Pad Kee Mao(drunken noodles or crazy noodles) I can call myself an expert of tasting Pad Kee Mao. Before we get to the food, the service was good. Very speedy and attentive. Price was $ 12.95 for dinner size. Ambience was pretty cozy. Now the food part; great presentation and great smell! The wide noodles were the softest I ever had. If you are one of those that prefer chewy noodles this is probably not for you. I generally like all textures of noodles so I enjoyed it. The sauce and spiciness were well balanced; however, too greasy for my taste. I have not had pad kee mao with so much oil before, definitely a minus. Chicken didn’t taste as fresh as I have hoped, it’s also slightly overcooked. Anyhow, aside from the chicken and grease it was great, enough for me to finish my plate. Definitely want to try their papaya salad next time, looks delicious.

While living in Washington DC, my bf and I frequented this place because it was close and convenient. Pad Thai was great and the Boiling Sea Soup was amazing. They have take out and fix their food quick and to perfection. It was a neighborhood feel that I miss!
