Our bartender Craig was awesome. The whiskey tasting was accompanied by a history of each spirit. The face bacon is off the chain and the Pig Saam was spicy and rich. Loved it, got to return for the dinner menu.

Came in for happy hour and asked to review the regular menu ½ hour before they began serving it. Bartender said no regular menu till. Never coming back. Absurd…

I love The Pig, I’ve been here several times for dinner. Today was my first time doing brunch, and I was super excited to see scrapple on the menu. Naturally, I ordered a dish with scrapple, but when it came out? No scrapple! I asked the waitress and she casually stated that they’re out of scrapple and replaced it with sausage. That would’ve been nice to know prior to ordering, as the only reason I chose the dish I had was for the scrapple! Pretty disappointed for the lack of disclosure. Hopefully next time will be better!

Sat outside and enjoyed a great beer and burger. Great unpretentious vibe and Abraham was an awesome, attentive server. Will definitely be back.

The Pig has some of the friendliest staff I have ever encountered in a DC bar /restaurant. I got there right when it opened(which is an hour before dinner time) and was seated at the bar. My boyfriend and I grabbed a few beers and some very tasty french fries. When we were able to be seated at a table for dinner, the waitstaff were very accommodating even though they said they were pretty booked for that evening. We ordered the tasting entrée that said«for sharing,» which we assumed meant for two. It was MUCH more food than what two people can eat, but it was all amazing. There was pork belly, green peas, beet and arugula salad, and a large pork shoulder that stole the show, front and center of the board. The presentation was immaculate. The overall experience was very pleasant, and made for a fun date night.

We had a waitress who was really rude. I asked her for a glass of water she told me to wait and went to attend a large table of 10 people. I assume she was much interested in the table because of the larger tip but this doesn’t excuse that behavior. I later called the waitress and she made a gesture for me to wait. She then walked over and just said rudely your food is coming and left. Shortly after a waitress walked over and said she would be taking over(so the prior one could focus on the large table). I am giving this two stars because the new one was great(Angela I think was her name). We left her a generous tip. The prosciutto was delicious as well.

The food was really great! We got the two-person-portion with various amount of meat, appetizer, and we were stuffed. Our server Angela was super friendly, and provided awesome service. I would definitely bring friends here again in the future.

Th restaurant definitely smells like pork even when you walk in. Can’t say if that’s a good or bad thing. Mac n cheese was amazing. Pork ribs was EXTRAORDINARY. The meat melted right off the bones!

After looking at this place and cycling other spots to eat because I wanted to take my friend and her fiancé out to a nice spot to eat, you won!(I was more drawn to come here, but, we were going to go to another spot. So technically, I guess I won.) Walking in, the ambiance definitely gave the vibe of a farm. At least that’s the vibe I got. Our waiter was very helpful in deciding what to eat and drink. We all got a round of Iberico(s) and then after that moscow mules. I was sort of sad that the moscows weren’t in copper cups. I know, I’m one of those people. The copper cup just sort of gives it an element that it wouldn’t have otherwise. It could be the taste, or maybe the temperature of the drink. The Iberico was amazing though. I would definitely recommend that to drink. What did we get? For apps we started with the sausage board. It came with the Bierwurst, Knockwurst, and the Bockwurst. The best? The table said that the knockwurst was the tastiest followed by the bockwurst and bierwurst last. They were all very tasty in my opinion, but if you had to choose one, I think I would have to agree with the table and say that the knockwurst was bomb. The onion marmalade with the sausage is starting to make me salivate. Onto the entrée: I ordered the berkshire chop served in au jus topped with caviar and potatoes. I know that they had this, but I think they’ve changed the menu since as all good restaurants do. Anyways, this dish was tasty, but I have to say I wasn’t a fan of the potatoes maybe if it was like pureed and drizzled on top or something like that would have been more spectacular. I get it that they’re going for a more hearty sort of way, but hey it’s just personal preference. The chop was great the sauce even greater. I also wished there was more sauce because it was bomb. The caviar was a nice touch, I made sure I ate all of it! The mac n cheese with the truffle crust was my side, and it wasn’t bad. We skipped dessert as we were all stuffed. I enjoyed the Pig. Definitely will be on my list to go to if I can’t decide on what to eat in DC. You should definitely check this place out if you want some protein and can’t decide where to go!

They offer a brunch on Sundays and otherwise German style pick up and go food. Fun atmosphere with a lively crowd. Food was good and typically heavy on meat and potatoes. A cool feature are the various pour sizes available similar to English measurements and allowing you to order exactly the amount you want. Expect to wait!

Dined here on a Wednesday night around 9:30PM. The place was pretty full, but they were able to seat my group of 6 quickly. As the name suggests, The Pig is a restaurant that dedicates its menu options to the wonderful, succulent pig. The menu changes often, but they always offer different parts of this farm animal. I was a tad disappointed by the menu on the night that I went — not too much stood out to me. So, maybe I’d suggest going on a weekend because I’m sure the menu during their busy days are more well rounded. Prices are a little above average, so expect to pay around $ 20 for the main dish alone. I ordered a small dish and a side: — Suckling pig roulade($ 11): The roulade consisted of cotechino stuffing rolled up in the suckling pig. This was served over a bed of peas and spinach. The greens definitely added a nice freshness and balance to the salty flavors of the pork. The stuffing had great flavor. I do wish that the cut of pork was a little thicker and the skin was crispier though. — Purple potatoes($ 5): These potatoes were cooked to perfection. Skin was crisp, but inside was soft. Great flavors, but nothing overpowering. I really liked the sweetness(honey) that was added! Dishes I tried thanks to my great dining companions: — Berkshire Shoulder($ 20): Yesss. This dish proved that The Pig really knows how to cook up their piggies! The meat was super tender, moist, and bursting with flavor. I loved how much heat was picked up from the thai chili peppers that the pork was cooked with. Gave you a great kick. — Mac & cheese($ 8): Meh. This was a disappointment. They definitely add horseradish to this side item, which was all I could really taste. — Apple Pie($ 10): Delicious pie with a great crust and paired so well with their«chorizo» ice cream. Although I’m not too sure how much chorizo was actually in the ice cream because it just tasted like vanilla to me(with a reddish tint). Overall, my experience at The Pig was solid. Service was nice and efficient. The atmosphere was pretty laid back yet people were also dressed in business casual attire, so it can go either way basically. I wouldn’t mind coming back to try other menu options. I do like that they change it up too!

I’m a glutton for some pork. I am not shy about my love for some meat and The Pig does not disappoint in their preparation of it. I was pleasantly surprised when we stumbled upon this local DC spot. Initial thoughts when walking in were, where the hell are we, and this place is comfortable but, what’s up with the menu. The menu will throw you off at first. Any place that calls themselves The Pig, should be known that pork is probably the main fare. Anyways on with it… The food! Oh The food. Face Bacon! Jeez. It was melt in your mouth good. Hands down the best thing I had in DC. I was in Heaven! Just thinking about it I dream of all the possible ways to chow down on some face bacon! I need to find this delight here in MKE now that I’m back. We also ordered a Charcuterie board with three meats, salami, soppressata calabrese, and prosciutto. We picked three meats. no need for some cheese or veggies despite them having available, we came to eat meat! Everything on the board was absolutely spectacular. The mustard has some kick and they also thew in a pesto that accompanied everything well. Main courses, were burgers and the smoked shoulder. Both dishes, excellent! The burger was probably one of the best medium rares I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating. The sides also stood up on there own. The collared greens were freaking tasty! The beer list is small, but solid. When you have the right amount of craft beers on the menu you truly don’t need to muddy the waters with to many options. The Pig is all about the pig anyways. Locally sourcing the meats and carving in house make for a truly unique dining experience. This place is everything i love about eating out.

I love meat and fried food just as much as the next guy(or really, girl) but our meal was way too heavy and overloaded with salt. The pork and chicken were full of fat and lard. It was hard to find actual meat, and the menu seemed pretty limited — it would’ve been nice if there were some greens or light apps to balance the meal. I left this place feeling I should do a juice cleanse for a week. On the flip side, the servers are incredibly nice and take the time to talk you through the menu options. There is a great beer/wine selection, and the bartenders make pretty tasty craft cocktails.

I’m about to go H.A.M. Hard as a melonfarmer Let these piggies know who I ammmmmm. That was the only reason I wanted to write this review. ugh. Asian time is a real thing as is Asian glow– both of which were very evident during my visit to The Pig. I was glowing at the end of 30 minutes when the rest of my party of adorable-and-taken girlfriends(and a +1) appeared. All it took was half a flute of mimosa where the OJ is just for color: D For DCRW, we all ordered something different. Appetizers — Face bacon w/maple was delish. — Buttermilk biscuits top-notch. Don’t mind if I Paula Deen dis bish. — Choco cake donut w/mint glaze was meh— the crushed up peppermint gave it a weird Christmas feel when you’re over the holiday season for at least another 3 months. Should’ve just gotten mo’ face bacon or biscuits. Mains — Cream of sausage: you’ve never had better sausage covered in cream sauce(I know what I just typed and I know what you’re thinking). The sautéed mushroom mix was nicely flavored and I confirmed that I still have a strong dislike for poached egg because of the runny center. I had fun poking it until it exploded then just eating the egg white. — Chicken & waffle: waffle was good but why come to a PIG place to get chicken, amirite? — 3 pig burger: pig on pig on pig. It was too pig to all fit in my mouth so I skipped. Dessert — Churros: FRIEDINPIGFAT! We scraped off enough sugar to give three toddlers diabetes. — Coffee semifreddo: where’s my shrug guy. oh here he is! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I don’t remember what other desserts we ordered because I was in tipsy auto-pilot at this point in the meal. Asked the guy I met on CMB that lives in Logan Circle for parking suggestions. «Read the signs,» he said«It’s a Sunday, you’ll be fine.» Thanks, Sherlock. Answer should have been LOOKONTHESIDESTREETS by Thomas Circle Park because you’re not gonna find any on 14th– yuppies love brunch!

Wowee! We had a spectacular time at the Pig last Saturday evening. My fiancé and I went on a double date there with one of my best friends and her boyfriend, who were visiting from NYC. We had a marvelous foodie experience at The Pig, which is yet another fantastic restaurant in the Logan Circle /14th Street /U Street area. We ordered a whole bunch of things, so I’ll do a bullet point list for this review: –Drinks — My fiancé and I both ordered the Bacon Old Fashioned(bacon-washed roses bourbon, Maple syrup, Angostura bitters). So good! And we especially loved the addition of the orange peel. We also ended up ordering the«Kermit’s Regret»(hayman’s old tom gin, Cranberry shrub, genepy, lemon, sage) and my friend ordered the«Pigtown Punch»(rye, scotch, green tea, lemon, sugar, nutmeg). –Charcuterie plate. We went with the«Little Pig» option(choice of 3): Pressed trotter(phở flavors, hoisin), Sopressata Calabrese(basil pesto), and Prosciutto(balsamic pearl onions, pistachio). The pressed trotter was super unique with its phở flavors and the hoisin sauce was an excellent addition. I also loved how the Sopressata was spicy! –Face Bacon(gloriously fatty, bourbon mustard, maple, pistachio). This was definitely the highlight of the meal for me. It was, indeed, gloriously fatty, as was advertised! Sooo good. I would go back and get 5 orders of just this! –Duroc Cheeks(braised in red wine, rutabaga purée, carrots, pistachio). This was a hit at our table too, though I personally wasn’t the biggest fan. –Deliverance Burger II(Double lard fried pork patties, cheddar, bbq onions, fries). My fiancé ordered this one and I shared a bit and it was good! Very juicy and delicious. Great sauce too! –Braised collards(peanut butter molasses) — I’m not a fan of collard greens, but this was also a hit at our table. –Brussels sprouts — this was made in pork and was also great! Super delicious. –House Ham(32 day brined AOF ham, smoked that day, black Eyed peas). Yum! I am obsessed with all things ham and absolutely LOVED this dish! I even liked the black eyed peas, which I tried for the first time. –Black Eyed Peas — our table also ordered an extra order of these. They were great. –Dessert: Apple pie(Ancho chili, cheddar crust, cayenne caramel, chorizo ice cream). I can’t believe we still had room for dessert after all that food, but the 4 of us shared this dessert and really enjoyed it! The chorizo ice cream was certainly unique! Overall, we had a veritable foodie experience(you can judge that based on how many different dishes we ordered)! The Pig is an excellent place for a food adventure and I would love to return.

Dinner service starts at. I think it’s 4pm. Was visiting from out of town and Unilocal told me to come here from all the great reviews. I cannot remember the dish names, but for starters we ordered the Mac and cheese which was so rich and creamy in the best possible way. Not too salty either. We also ordered the pork belly with honey mustard dressed on the plate, it was one of the best things I’ve eaten in awhile, very fatty, melts in your mouth. I don’t think it’s for everyone, but I loved it. My main was pork confit with grits and veggies. Topped with fried pork skin. I could be off, but it was very delicious, that pork skin was too good. The service was also super friendly. The décor had this rustic modern feel and the bathroom had great Wall paper, clippings and the sorts. The average reviewer is posting this place at $$$, bow I’m from Canada and my dollar isn’t very strong St the moment. So I would say $$ for the quality of food and value.

Wow was the food excellent at the Pig! Planning our trip to DC I saw this highly rated pork-focused restaurant and immediately made a reservation for our group. We were not disappointed. We started with some Face Bacon which is the pig’s jowl. It was super flavorful and juicy though a bit fatty. It melted in your mouth. For our mains we ordered the Crispy Shank, the Roasted Pork Shoulder, and the Cheeks. All were excellent with the Pork Cheek being the best! We decided to try a side of kimchi and as advertised it was really spicy hot! Not sure I would try it again — must be an acquired taste. The server was very helpful in guiding us through the menu and our questions. Also we like the pig themed bathroom décor. Overall this place is a must if you like pork!

Here piggy piggy… Our first stop after checking into our hotel was at The Pig. We sat at the bar to indulge in the discounted dishes for happy hour. I had some of the burger($ 10 happy hour price) and ordered the pig cheek($ 9). The burger was a hefty portion, with a soft brioche-like bun, flavorful meat, and great toppings. I loved the bold rich flavor of the pork cheek and the grits it was served with were delicious. The only minor point would be I would have liked a little bit more of the grits to eat with the rich flavor of the pork to balance out each bite more. Service was very friendly and polite at the bar. This was definitely a good way to start our trip in the D.C. area.

I had a good time at the Pig and enjoyed the food, but had a lackluster service experience and am not sure it’s worth the $$$ they charge. I made a reservation a week in advance to have a roasted pig head prepared for my boyfriend’s birthday dinner. Over the phone, the(very friendly!) host assured me that the head would be plenty of meat for 6, alongside a few sides – the guy on the phone was fantastic both times I called. Our reservation was for Saturday at 8PM and our table was ready when we arrived. Our waitress was friendly, but recommended that we order an appetizer for each person on top of sides and the head because she was skeptical that the head would be enough to feed our group, so we ordered a large charcuterie plate and one of each of the appetizers on the menu that day along with sides – this ended up being misguided, we had a ton of extra, wasted food, so I was kind of disappointed that she was so emphatic about this point when it clearly seemed like a ploy to up our bill at the end of the night. The head came out on two platters with a sparkler stuck into each half. My boyfriend and his friends had a ton of fun digging into the head and excavating the meat. It was kind of disgusting to watch and not for the faint of heart, but they loved it. I would have appreciated the chef coming out to explain to us how to carve the head(as other reviews have mentioned), the waitress only mentioned this as an option to us at the end of the meal, so it was pointless by then. As the night progressed, it became increasingly difficult to get the attention of our waitress and I felt like the service just completely deteriorated by the end of our meal. It took over 20 minutes to get our waters refilled after having to hunt down someone to ask and another 20 minutes to get the bill. I honestly feel like our waitress just ignored us once it became clear we were finished ordering food and drinks. The food was good, the roasted head was EXCELLENT, but I didn’t really think the side dishes or appetizers were anything extraordinary, especially for the prices they charge, which are on the expensive side even for DC. I waver between 3 and 4 stars for this place – I enjoyed my experience and my boyfriend had a great birthday, but I don’t think I would come back here or recommend it to someone else. If someone wanted to come, I’d definitely recommend pre-ordering the roasted head/other parts(available on the website, call-in by phone to reserve) and picking it up to have at home. The whole roasted parts are definitely a better buy value-wise compared to the individual dishes on the menu. EDIT: Also wanted to add that the«Suggested Tip» settings on their receipts does not account for split receipts. Our bill was ~$ 400, split on two cards and the suggested tip at 18% was still ~$ 70 for my half! Clearly, I did the math, but I felt that this was kind of underhanded. It’s a problem with their programming, but I haven’t encountered this at many other restaurants that do suggested tips.

The pig out for 2 is probably the best deal and the most worth it if you’re only going to get to go once. So I’ve heard about this place from multiple people and for the past few times I was in DC I didn’t get a chance to go, so I was determined to go this time. And as luck would have it, I got to venture here with some friends for a celebratory dinner. Passing on the wisdom of others, I would recommend calling to make a reservation, and if you want the whole roasted pig, you have to call and let them know. We didn’t realize that, so we missed out on it, but we settled for trying the other things on the menu instead. If you love pork, this is a great place to go because their flavors and cuts are so on point! So my friend and I shared the pig out for 2, which is an assortment of entrees and side dishes meant to share between 2 people. While it looked pretty small when it came out on the butcher platter, it was actually quite a bit of food. There was a piece of pork calf that was the main entrée as well as face bacon, which is a giant cut of bacon apparently, Mac and cheese, roasted bell peppers and caramelized carrots. The pork was super tender and so flavorful. You could taste the char along with the sweetness of the sauce it was in. The bell pepper was super sweet and crispy, and the Mac and cheese was really good and had a nice crust on top of it. We also go to taste the pulled pork which was also really good, but I still liked the pig out for 2 because you got to try more items. Price: this was on the pricier side of things, but that’s why I still liked the pig out because it was a reasonable price. It was $ 55 for the meal, so when you split it, it’s reasonable. Other meals averaged around $ 20 per person. Atmosphere: the atmosphere was really cool and hipster. They have a bar there to chat and grab drinks with friends. The place does fill up pretty quickly so I would either go early or make a reservation. I really enjoyed this place and it was such a great experience!

Muy buena comida. Se nota que es casera. Pero prepara tus arterias porque lleva grasa para dar y tomar
