Came after reading so many good reviews comparing this to greek deli. For me there is no comparison. I got the gyro platter: a pile of meat, one pita, a cup of tatziki and 2 sides(i chose lima beans and orzo.) My first disappointment came when i asked if there’d be any lettuce, tomato, onion, or feta to accompany the gyro meat and was told«no you already got 2 sides, u can order a salad if you want.» So my complete platter was a pile meat with bread(plus the sides, which would do nothing to transfer the prior into a tasty gyro.) Sad surprise #2 — the gyro meat was wet, like it came out of a steamer tray and not cut off a rotisseried gyro(think wet, sliced meatball). To their credit, the meat was flavorful, but steamed with no crisp edges is not a gyro id seek again, much less when given NOTHING to accompany it. The lima beans were also tasty, the orzo was super soft and unseasoned — i only tried chef boyardee once in my childhood, but im betting this was quite similar taste and texture. Next time i’ll walk the extra couple of blocks to greek deli.

Wow, I’m so sorry it took me this long to discover Stoupsy’s. Located in the International Square food court, Stoupsy’s looks at a first glance like your typical food court eatery. But never judge a book by its cover. Stoupsy’s provides crazy delicious and comforting Greek food that is reminiscent of another favorite, Plaka Grill. I don’t eat meat, so I can’t speak to the gyros, but all the non-meat options I tried were phenomenal. The first time I visited, I got the cod platter, which comes with two sides. I chose eggplant and mixed vegetables. You know, when I hear cod, I’m never terribly excited. The batter or breading is usually pretty mild-tasting(nice way to say bland). Stoupsy’s cod is on a whole other level. The coating outside the fish filets is super flavorful and light. The flesh was moist. Came with tartar sauce, but it totally didn’t even need sauce. With that said, I felt some regret after sampling the tartar sauce to see what it tasted like. It was so again, very light, and creamy and decadent. I had the strongest urge to buy french fries to dip in the tartar sauce but decided against it. Both amazing and so satisfying! One of those things you eat that you wish would never ever end. The sides were also very tasty. The mixed vegetables, which came with potato, among other veggies, were well-seasoned and homey. The eggplant in a tomato sauce was also quite pleasing to the palate. I loved my meal so much I came back the next day and ordered the spanakopita platter, having lemon potatoes and mixed vegetables for my sides. The spanakopita was divine – super flaky and buttery phyllo crust over creamy spinach. Probably the best version I’ve ever had. The lemony potato wedges were also delightful and perfectly seasoned. The mixed veggies were again delicious, and I’m really happy about how they use fresh, high-quality ingredients(big, chunky carrot slices, not small bits). This is probably my absolute favorite fast food option in the Farragut West neighborhood, besides Pret and Havana Café. I have to say that I love the latter for its people most of all. Stoupsy’s staff are fine, not super friendly but polite and fast. They really pile on the food, which is awesome. Prices are decent considering the quality. Next time you’re meeting someone in the area for a lunch date or catch-up meal, grab a bite from Stoupsy’s!

Busy and fast and WORTHIT. I ordered the gyro platter to go. I ate half of it there and took the other half back to work. The gyro was so soft and the veggies were fresh and crisp. Will come back during lunch to try other items on the menu!

Decent prices, and it is one of the few greek fast food joints that uses Kronos-style meat.

This is one of the best spanakopitas I’ve ever eaten. It’s very close to my wife’s super spinach pie. The difference, I think, is sugar in the phyllo dough. It’s definitely authentic.

Second time visiting and expectations were met once again. Last time I had the lasagna, which was the best lasagna I’ve had in the US! And this time tried Masouka, which is so super delicious! Service was quick amd friendly both times.

When I want Greek food I head to Stoupsy’s. The chicken kabob platter is excellent and their roast lemon potatoes are better than any other Greek place I’ve tried. It’s cheaper and service is much faster than going to the Greek Deli a few blocks away. Even their tzaztiki sauce is better than anyone else’s. The family that used to own it has either sold or taken a back seat in the day to day running of it but never fear, the food has not changed.

This place is FAST. I got a gyro platter(salad, gyro meat, pita, potatoes, tzaztiki sauce) and a rice pudding. The gyro platter had incredibly juicy and flavorful meat and was big enough to split into two meals. Minus one star for the rice pudding, which was a terrible decision. I love all kinds of rice pudding, but this one was congealed into an almost jello-like texture, not sweet enough nor creamy, and tasted like its been living in the fridge for a while.

Decent place. A bit greasy. They have a sign up with a CNN quote proclaiming the Greek diet as the best to eat for health reasons. Not sure if the food that Stoupsys serve fit this bill! Bonus star for the girl who works there — stunning and friendly.

Ordered the gyro platter — with potatoes and salad. The pita bread was hard around the edges… too hard for me to even finish the gyro. The potatoes were very salty. Very disappointed today. I’ve had other dishes from the here, and the food was good, but today, not the case.

Stoupsy’s is downstairs in a fast-food food court. I’ve been coming here for years. I have only found good gyros in a couple of places around DC, and Stoupsy’s is one of them. The gyro meat and tzaziki are great and there is plenty of feta cheese. They really fill up the pita. They also have tasty root beer. Service is pretty fast and the price is relatively cheap.

I love love this place. I think I may be addicted to their kabob sandwhich. It is filling yet not too much going on. Just great marinated chicken breast with lettuce, tomatoes, feta, and yogurt. They wrap all the goodness in a warm pita. It’s a great place for lunch and not too expensive for downtown. Try it, you will not be dissapointed!

I don’t know about their gyro, but I got the Spanakopita plate platter. It was so overwhelming it made me nauseous. I could not finish my dish. For my side dishes I got potatoes and eggplant. The eggplant was really good! Very flavorful. The potatoes were kind of nasty. The seasoning was sparse and I often felt like choking on them. I really didn’t like the flimsy plates but then again, it’s a cafeteria. What else can I expect?

Stoupsy’s is a stellar Greek spot with one of the best gyros around. The service is super quick, and the food will not disappoint. I feel almost dirty when I go to Stoupsy’s instead of Greek Deli, but the gyro platter at Stoupsy’s is superior to Greek Deli’s offering in my opinion. Juicy, delicious, and under $ 10 for the platter… how can you go wrong? The lemon potatos are also divine, and even the salad is crisp and tasty. I’ve tried the beef souvlaki, baked chicken, and a few other items, but the gyro is what stands out most for me at Stoupsy’s. Manageable lines, a very efficient and friendly staff only make the experience that much more enjoyable. A+ in my book!

This place gets a solid 3.5 stars from me. This place has been around for a while and I know why. Their gyro is MONEY and can easily go head to head with Greek Deli.

I have been going to Stoupsy’s for over 10 years and the food is excellent! I have been to so many greek restaurants in the city, but this place stands out. The food is always, hot, fresh, abundant, and bursting with flavor. The service is very quick even if there’s a long line. My favorites are the bean soup, the chicken kebob platter, the orzo pasta, and the chicken pie(I don’t eat lamb). The prices are reasonable considering the location of the restaurant which is in the center of the city. If you’re having a serious craving for greek food, this is the place go.

This review might suffer from some star deflation, given recent criticisms of Unilocal star-loving reviewers. In full disclosure, it’s probably 3.5 stars. When I hear the name Stoupsy, I think of a small Greek boy who looks frail and pale. He possibly had rickets or something and his given name is much cooler and longer but everyone calls him Stoupsy. He tells them all when he leaves school, «I’ll show you. One day, I’ll go to America and own a restaurant in a subterranean food court in Washington D.C.!» And that dream came true, while the Greek jocks who mocked him are busy screwing farm animals. Went to this place for lunch, Got a gyro for around $ 6.55 which is pricey for a gyro, but not pricey for this food court. Having lived in Astoria, Queens I’m a little spoiled with my gyros. This sandwich was a little on the light side, but the meat was good and the pita was warm and soft, with the right amount of tzatziki sauce. I wasn’t wild about the feta cheese on the gyro, but it was okay. It was fine, if I’m craving a gyro sandwich at lunch. I’d like to imagine there is a better gyro somewhere. But maybe I need to return to Queens.

I’m surprised to see only 4 reviews so far because this is a pretty decent place, even if it’s in a food court. They offer different items on different days of the week and they all sound/look/smell authentic enough to me — there’s lamb, lemon potatoes, lamb, and something tasty in filo pastry. They also claim that everything is made from scratch so I can pig out a little more guiltlessly. Portions are large and actually the lines during lunch can get long as well — and the cashiers a little testy. My only caveat is that the gyro/souvlaki meat tends to be on the salty side.

I first went to this little establishment with a close Greek friend. He had been there a few times before and loved the lamb. As is well known, Greeks love their lamb ! After that, almost every Thursday(the day they serve lamb), we had lunch at Stoupsy’s. My friend left the country a year ago and I didn’t visit Stoupsy’s for some time, but went back last Thursday. The lamb was still excellent, as succulent and richly flavoured as ever. Combined with rice and potatoes, it made for a delicious, if slightly unhealthy meal. Stoupsy’s is in a food court and the food is served on paper plates. It is therefore cheap and definitely worth visiting on Thursdays.
