Awesome food and service. All 9 of the group loved their meals. Beverages very Reasonable for the area. Next time I’m in the area I would stop again.

Personally, I spent a happy night there with my professor and classmates. We ordered some snacks like fries, chicken balls and they are really good. We also tasted beer which I am not an expert. So no comment on wine. Many people choose to sit outdoors in good weather.

One of my most frequent go to spots during my college days at the Catholic University of America(2000 – 2004)! Yes, it is a dive bar, but, in my opinion a good one! The employees were always great and friendly, and, the beer and music were always awesome!!! And, those tater tots… OMG!!! It was always really fun to sit on their patio(in reasonable enough weather, of course) and do some great people watching… and the background view of the Capitol Building at night could not be beat!

Great divy atmosphere. Good selection of beer on tap, and good selection of liquor. Décor is irish pub meets dive bar. Definitely get a throwback vibe.

Fun Irish bar in DC. May have the best Reuben I’ve ever had! Friendly service. Divey enough for my taste. Eclectic people watching. Outdoor seating. Tater tots! Small but decent menu. Reasonable draft seclection. Alllllllll of the whiskey. I would definitely recommend and return!

Four stars because President Reagan loved this place. They lose a star because the bartender was talking on his Bluetooth the whole time. He half-poured our drinks, but was too busy talking to remember he half-poured them and asked us what we wanted again. Nice location and atmosphere though.

Great to hang out and have a beer with friends. We went around 8 and we were ID’ed so you have to be over 21 to enter after a certain hour. We had calamari, burgers and a Reuben Sandwich and all 3 were good.

All you really need or want in a classic dive or Irish bar, or any bar for that matter. As it should be this place is welcoming where the staff and more importantly the customers are friendly and eager to get to know you. The space invites you to look around and place down your smartphone and engage in some good ol fashioned human interaction. I came, as you should, for a pint of Guinness. Poured correctly it’s the nectar of the Gods. The bar is cluttered, well-visited takes and it takes a few tries to find an even spot to place your beverage. I am told they have food if needed and even drinks other than beer but in my opinion, why bother? I know what I came for and I was not disappointed. Unilocal wants to know, does it have a good TV? I’m not sure, I was too busy having a good time and in the end that’s really what its all about. We thoroughly enjoyed our drinks in an establishment that is for the better unapologetically unchanged. Thanks!

It’s a dive bar. They sell beer. My wife of 45 years just left me, and I needed to find a place to stare at the bottom of a long tall glass of ale. I came in, and it was perfect. I sat down at the bar and ordered a beer. I used their karaōke machine to play«Hurt» by Johnny Cash 24 times in a row, and the staff didn’t kick me out. I sat their in silence and ordered 4 beers and 12 shots. Not the most expensive night out I’ve ever had, as their prices are not super high. Their bathrooms are nice. Their bathrooms are nice, for a dive bar.

Stopped in for a beer. Not terribly crowded(about ½ bar stools taken and a few tables). 2 bartenders and 2 servers. I sat at the bar and really had uninspired service. My beer glass was empty for a while each time and I felt like an intrusion asking one of the bartenders for another beer. Beer was fine but service was just lacking.

At about 5 pm on a weekday, I sat at one bar for twenty minutes and no bartender ever came. Moved to the other bar and sat for 10 minutes, and when I finally had a chance to(politely) order from the extremely surly bartender, he curtly said they didn’t have what I asked for(Macallan 12?!), walked away without waiting another second for another choice, and never returned. I left after half an hour at this disgusting place without a thing to show for it except a nasty feeling. Went next door to the Dubliner and immediately got served by a friendly bartender who had exactly what I was looking for.

Love this place… My buddies and I hit Kelly’s Irish Times every summer when we come out to DC. Awesome vintage feel and we love the police and fire patches from all over the world, obviously a sign of a good place! Sean and Chris are fantastic every time we show up and we wouldn’t go anywhere else. Highly recommend!

We were told we had to stop at this spot so we did. I had THEBBQ burger. It’s probably my favorite burger of all times! Loved it. Good Selections of Whisky. The service was spot on the money.

We were planning on having more than one drink here but the attitude of the bar made us cash out after one. Not friendly, acted as we were an inconvenience, and pretty much just unwelcoming. It was 7:15 on a weekend and the place was dead, like five total other people. Just not a good atmosphere for a weekend night. I only came here out of convenience and don’t see myself coming back again. Ever.

I am a first time customer. I have not had corned beef cabbage in years. I tried it at Kelly’s Irish Times. The corned beef was tender and the cabbage, potatoes, and carrots were cooked perfectly. The only complaint for me is the meal was a little bland. I prefer more seasonings on my food. I am used to the peppercorns, allspice and bay leaves in my corned beef and cabbage. I could barely taste any seasonings. All in all it has other things on the menu which I will try. I will come back. It also has a great bar and a pleasant bar tender named Sean.

I walked in with an AmeriCorps group for our end of the year service trip. When we walked in a comment was made that«this isn’t a cafeteria» we waited and no one took our order or even given menus. the waitress, Nicole, ignored us until we asked for menus. We were turned away from the bar when trying to get a drink. I approached the bar to ask how long everything would take because of time constraints with travel back to our service sites and I overheard Nicole complaining about our group. The waitress rolled her eyes at me turned to the«manager» at the bar and explained rudely again that we were under time constraints. We felt completely humiliated, hurt and discriminated against when other were happily served and had to leave. I do not recommend going here because of poor customer service and the attitudes we immediacy encountered in general.

Great fish and chips and the waiter was nice and accommodating, paired with immediate seating and a fun environment its a great place to go for anyone looking for reasonably priced food in an otherwise pricy area.

Ahí la he dejado.

Tried to watch the Belmont Stakes horse race here. They had it on the TV but the bartender refused to turn up the sound when we asked. They don’t have bottles of beer, only cans. Asked for a glass to pour my can of beer into and he handed me a truly filthy glass. I would hate to see how the kitchen looks because this place is clearly not big on cleanliness. Bartender had an attitude the whole time like we were inconveniencing him just by being there. There were approx 7 other customers in the whole place. Anyway, we wanted to see and hear the race so we didn’t even drink our beers, just paid and left. Went to the Dubliner next door and the atmosphere was awesome. Everybody was into the race and they had it on every TV(sound included). Highly recommend the Dubliner!

Kelly’s Irish Times is a «Cop Bar». The is good but the selection of whisky ‘s, scotches, and bourbon is awesome. «Ty» was my server for lunch, this guy’s is an animal. Solo server and handled it like a pro…

As far as dive bars go, this is a great place! Great fun atmosphere, great music(I believe there’s usually live music on the weekends), friendly staff, etc, etc. It’s also really big which is nice for large group outings. The menu is hit or miss. But, it is a dive bar so don’t go for dinner. The appetizer sampler everyone swears by as well as the tots. I would skip the reuben sandwich.

Plain and simple: This is your standard divey Irish pub. I’m not particularly fond of Kelly’s Irish Times but it’s a few blocks away from both my office and Union Station. They have beer on tap and cheap bar food. None of this is anything to rave home about but its a solid after-hours spot. Service is hit or miss. No great deals during Happy Hour. But it’s a dive bar, what more do you expect?

Not great. Basically a cop watering hole next to a train station. Not impressed. We sat for about 15 – 20 minutes and I had to flag down a waitress to help us. The food was average at best. My mushroom swiss burger was very dry and tasteless. My friends Mcmack and cheese was alright, but it wasn’t great either. If you are looking for a drink, sure, this place would be fine for that. Food and drink? Look elsewhere.

Awesome Irish pub a couple blocks from Union Station. I’ve always had good service here & the food has been very good. The Paddy’s Patty is my favorite! I also love their cheesy bacon tater tots because what’s better than tater tots than tater tots with cheese & bacon. Not much. They have a chalkboard on the wall with the daily specials, which you definitely should be sure to check out. I have missed some potentially good dishes because I failed to check the board. This is a great lunch spot for me since it’s close to my job, but I’d definitely recommend checking it out if you’re in the area.

I came here last night with one of my girlfriends for drinks and dinner. Kelly’s Irish Times is good for 2 things — 1. horrible one man cover bands and 2. fast Irish food. As much as I loved the ambiance and the divey pub feel; it just didn’t hit it for me. It seemed a bit confusing. We were here at 9:00 — 10:45pm. It wasn’t incredibly late, but it was late enough that children should not have been running around inside the bar area where there also a group of men who could have possibly been frat brothers 6 or 7 years ago reliving their glory days at what ever SEC college that attended. When one of the kids ran lose past the crowd, one of the frat brothers managed to spill some of the drink on the kid when the kid was being chased by the parent. It wasn’t much spillage, but this could have been avoided by not having kids in a bar in the first place. The frat bros had more reason to be than kids. When her and I entered, we were IDed. Young children coming in completely defeated this purpose. Here is one thing I can say about Kelly’s — it is a restaurant and bar. I am sure they have families during the day which I get. I think there should be a cut off on what time children should be allowed in. It is a bar on Friday night with people who may not know how to control their liquor… let alone much else. Please be aware of this. For dinner I got the open faced roast beef. Basically roast beef on two buns with mashed potatoes and gravy smothering it. It was a bit salty. I like salt, so this wasn’t a complete bust for me, but it was a tad overwhelming for the average person who might not be into salty items. For drinks I had their on tap cider. Tasted great and it was very smooth. Service was pretty much non existent. There didn’t seem to be a set person to one table. Several people helped us which was fine since we were maintained well and there were not lingering issues. Will i return? Eh… I am more partial to The Dubliner. I think I will stick with what I know versus the sister of.

A spare efficient Guinness-pouring machine with free wifi :) Yes Kelly’s is in the modern age, you can stew over the latest meme while stuffing yourself with Irish stew. They also tap some American craft brews like Starr Hill Northern Lights IPA in addition to the requisite Smithwicks, Harp and the big G. Spare is about the right word for this place, that and«dive.» This pub has a long plain bar, many small tables separated by low walls, some TVs high up, and plenty of room to stand around while lifting a glass. Fairly noisy with a vague sound system so adult conversation requires a bit of shouting. I think it’s a place for serious drinking, and just enough eating so you can keep drinking. Service at the bar was prompt and efficient. Altho as Joseph O. points out, the bar space is cramped by hundreds of clean glasses waiting for their fill, that was a new one on me, a real wall between the drinkers and the bartenders. My only real complaint was that a glass of the good dark stuff was painfully cold, don’t like it that icy. I paid $ 7 for an imperial pint in prime time, on par for this area but perhaps too high for a dive bar. Vegetarian rating: barely 2 stars, you’re limited to a ‘shroom sandwich, fries, onion rings and of course beer :) Just fine for a low-key drink and fairly cheap food. If you want the same beer but with old-world elegance, go next door to the big D.

I would say if you’re looking for a class dive bar to grab a few drinks and get some cheap eats, then this place should meet all your expectations. I have been there twice in the past few weeks and each time my food was on point. Grilled Portobello sandwich — goatCheese, mushroom, peppers with a aioli sauce that was delicious. BBQ chopped chicken sandwich — This was a special of the day that I think they should add to their regular menu. The chicken was nice and moist and the sauce was on point. To top of off all their sandwich come with a side of either tots, fries, veggie or salad. All for under $ 10 — you can’t really beat a solid lunch like that. If you’re looking for a few drinks they have a good selection. i went on a Thursday and they had DC Brau for $ 3.00 the entire day(a steal). I will definitely be back! Don’t expect too much in terms of ambience, etc. It’s a dive bar people, CMON.
