Shawn’s Smokehouse BBQ

Very happy to have another addition to the BBQ landscape. My family went for early dinner last Sunday and we left satisfied and impressed. For meats they have; pork, chicken, brisket, ribs, and wings. The pork is chopped, the brisket can be ordered two ways; lean or moist, and the wings are smoked. I went with a double of pork and wings with sides of beans and mac n cheese. They had run out of the moist brisket, but I had a taste, and the lean suited me just fine. The beans were good and had some big pieces of brisket in there. The mac n cheese was pretty good for a side. The wings were excellent, you get 5 good sized ones in your double. The pork was juicy, maybe even on the fatty side but I like that. Also included in the double is a big squishy bun and a side of slaw.
It’s really a lot of food, I came starving and wasn’t able to finish the beans, slaw, or the bottom of my bun. The meat comes out without sauce but they have their sauces on the table for you to try out. The mango one went really well on the wings. There are two curious things of note about some of their sides; the slaw is made with coconut and is very very sweet (the main reason i did not finish mine). They offer a pasta salad that contains cilantro, eww. Both are thankfully noted on the menu so you aren’t taken by surprised.

Excellent Food! The girl who took our order was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. I am strictly gluten free and she went over each item on the menu that was «safe» to eat. We will definitely be back!

We really like their food and the layout of the restaurant. Plenty of parking and close to other shops (ladies… Marshall. just sayin’) Easy to order at the register, they’ll ask your name and you pick your seat and they’ll bring it to you. We ordered whole rack ribs and whole chicken with sides for 4. Pricey… a bit, but we thought it was worth it. There’s a self-​serve counter for your drinks and BBQ sauces, napkins etc. Though each table has sauce bottles and large roll of paper towel sheets. Clean table area and friendly staff. Bathrooms available too. We will come back and will be bringing more friends! Great new addition to Warrenton! Maybe Pei-​Wei can be the next restaurant to open up here?

Went with a co-​worker today for lunch.
We each had the pulled pork sandwich with a side. It was about $ 6 bucks.
Decent BBQ, not exceptional.
I do like they have several choices of sauce.

We’ve eaten Shawn’s BBQ and various other catered delights from Kitchen Gourmet over many many years, since they have contracts with the companies I and my spouse work for, so we’re quite familiar with how incredible their food is. We recently heard that Shawn (the son of the Kitchen Gourmet folks) opened his second location in Warrenton and decided to try it, since we never were able to get out to his 1^st location in Culpeper.
Instantly we were impressed with the looks of the place, it’s nicely decorated and has a lot of personalization (tables, etc) all over — this has GOT to be pricey! Then when we looked at the menu board, we understood how pricey it was! They are charging their customers for how pretty the place is… something a restaurant should never do!
Theirs prices are wayyy to high for what you get. We went in as a family of three, only ordered a plate with sides for each (one ordered just a sandwich) and 3 drinks and the total was over $ 60! The food tasted good, but was easier $ 15 — $ 20 more than anywhere else, like Mission BBQ, where we usually pay $ 43 — $ 45 for the same food and it’s prepared MUCH better with bigger portions.
The portions of what we got were really tiny, especially for the price!
They also didn’t have a beef plate option, we could only order the brisket as part of a combo or a sandwich, makes very little sense.
Overall, we’ll stick to the free version of this food we get when our companies order catering, I can’t say I’ll ever want to go back and pay these prices for this quality of food again. Too many other options, especially nearby.

Food was really good, and the portions were large. The restaurant was clean, and our food came out quickly.

Tucked into the middle of a big shopping center, in a small storefront, this place was a little difficult to find. As I walk in the door I’m greeted by honky-​tonk music which wasn’t overly loud but I still hate sitting there listening to «I’m wondering who is a going out the back door as I’m a coming in the front door». I ordered the three meat combo for myself, chicken, pork and ribs. My wife got a pork sandwich. The chicken, which was so good at Shawn’s in Culpepper was dry here and somewhat flavorless. The ribs were meaty, tender but didn’t have much flavor either. The pulled pork was good. I would really give the place three and a half stars. The staff seemed to be young and talking to each other too much. I was trying to get a refill on my soda but couldn’t because one of the staff members was leaning on the soda counter while he talked to another worker. Finally he realized he was in the way and he moved. I guess with the food being only so so and the long drive to this place from Dale City I probably won’t be back.

My family and I tried Shawn’s for dinner tonight and were very impressed. The chicken was tender and had a great smoke taste. I would have given it five stars, but they were very busy and forgot to give us some of our sides. That won’t stop us from going back though! It’s great to have something this good in Warrenton!

Awesome sides!!! Awesome BBQ sauces!!! Not near enough smoke on the meats however. Only could taste smoke on the ribs, and it was mild at best. The sides and sauces make the meal, which is unfortunate for a place that specializes in smoked meats. Thought it was a bit pricey too. Will give it another shot once they are more established.

Glad to see the new Warrenton location open. Today did wings with sides. The very cheesy Mac & Cheese hit the spot and also got the potato salad for my second side.
They have great sauce for their wings today felt like in the mood for some sweet and sassy. Also try the burnt ends. They do have a limited amount of beer available.
