All the things about Great Harvest that I wrote about in my review that I loved? Still love them. Still greeted by a friendly staff, still love all of the breads, still love the sweet treats, still love the lunch sandwiches. All of the breads and treats are freshly prepared and all are real tasty. So why am I downgrading my rating? Simply put — money. Great Harvest — this one at least — has implemented the same philosophy that so many corporate entities have in recent years, downsizing the product without a comparable downsizing in the sales price. What used to be a 2 pound loaf of spinach feta bread now weighs in at 1lb 6oz. Did the price drop 30% like the product volume? No, it didn’t. And although I can’t state definitively what the price was nearly 4 years ago when I wrote my initial review, I’m quite certain that the price has increased as well. Is there rampant inflation in the bread world that I’m oblivious to? I didn’t mind(still don’t) paying a little bit more to support a local merchant for a quality product. But seriously. A 30% reduction in volume?! Nearly $ 10 for a small loaf of bread? No, don’t think so. It’s just not in my budget. I’ll have to settle for the in-store bakery at Harris Teeter(which is pretty good by the way!)

Went for lunch on Sunday and got a BLT on white bread. I could tell the bacon was cooked in a microwave, because it was too chewy and came out of the sandwich with each bite. May want to fry the bacon instead to keep it crisp and maybe toast the bread for this sandwich. The employees here were very friendly.

Just inhaled a breakfast sandwich at GH. Amazing — and while I wasn’t thrilled with a $ 9 price for coffee and a sandwich, I understand why — it was knock down great — healthy serving of meat and cheddar with the egg on some out of this world grain bread. Outstanding.

Quick, friendly service combined with a tasty assortment of breads and locally sourced dairy make for happy customers. Open Saturday mornings during farmers market hours, so you get a bonus of convenience.

Wow! The people who work there are super nice! While we were waiting in line they give us a choice of breads to taste along with spreads. The bread was fresh and the spreads were homemade. We loved it. We ordered our meal and it was delicious! The only con of this place is that it’s small and not enough chairs. As we are the line was wrapping around the tables. I highly recommend coming here

Excellent breakfast sandwiches! Everything is homemade and fresh. The sandwiches were hearty and fulling. Great chai tea latte also.

The bread at this location is so fresh you can smell it outside the doors. The last time I went they still had fresh blueberry cobbler bread even close to closing.

Big fan of this place. The chicken salad is amazing, as is the High Five bread. I usually come here twice a week for a cup of coffee, a piece of bread off the bread board and an occasional sandwich. Well run and an upbeat staff.

Best restaurant customer service in town! Delicious treats, breads and coffee! Not to mention you can buy bread mixes and cookie mixes in the store to make at home! Their sandwiches are all made to order and SO delightfully fresh. Just trust me and give it a try!

Tasty sandwiches, though not as good as Red Truck’s. Great bread. Baked goods are good but a little too sweet. Could use more organization behind the counter — the kids who work there are really nice, which is lovely, but they are inexperienced and it shows. I was there today and ordered two sandwiches… while I appreciate that they are freshly made to order and it isn’t instantaneous, it took over fifteen minutes. Plus they forgot the pickle, which I had really been looking forward to. $ 25 for 2 sandwiches, 2 bags of chips and a couple of iced teas is steep. I’m all for supporting local businesses but that price is a bit much. Especially given the wait.

Great place to grab a coffee and tea. They make fresh breads and pastries. They like to give you samples of their stuff, so come on in and have a slice with a coffee. Nice place to sit and wait. They usually have music playing in the background, and I don’t know if they have a restroom for customers. Outdoor seating available on the main street of downtown Warrenton, so it’s a great spot.

Loved it! Great experience all around. The customer service was on point. All of the employees were young ladies who were exceptionally sweet, and eager to please. They were proud they worked there. It seems like a really fun environment for them. Coffee– perfect for a little bread joint. Exactly what I expected. Sandwich– I had the chicken salad on multigrain bread. Very good. The chix salad was not too moist, nor too dry. Just how I like it. All white meat with plenty of flavor, and a few things added to mix up the texture. When you walk in, they give you a free sample of bread. There were about 10 choices. I went with the chocolate chip pumpkin bread. It tasted just like my Mom’s, and yes, that is a great compliment. Give this place a chance. I will be back for sure.

Absolute wonderful local bakery! Huge variety of super sweet pastries and some on the savory side All breads are created with freshly milled wheat — and you do pay for that. It is not the $ 2 a loaf you get in a grocery store! But what a joy to feed my family breads without the added preservatives found in store bought bread. Love this place!

Stopped in for Sunday lunch to break up our roadtrip, and what a delight to walk into the smell of fresh-based bread. Could not resist a loaf of the pumpkin-choc. chip to bring home, which was AWESOME. Best surprise? Locally-made jellies for sale. Love a chain that keeps it local.

Great breads and an excellent variety always. Love their veggie sandwich for a lunch treat every few weeks. Lost a couple of stars for(IMHO) too sugary cookies, muffins etc. Maybe the overly sweet tasting baked goodies is only me?! Texture and moisture is always spot on! Also, the menu location is very confusing.

Stopped here for a quick bite between seeing the sights around town. Highly recommend: maple bacon bread, salted caramel cookies, and their pretzels The lemonade was a little too sweet and not enough sour punch for my preference. Staff was friendly and informative.

I love the smell when I walk into Great Harvest! Fresh whole grain breads and a savory blend of spices fill the air with an aroma that makes you want to stay all day. The staff has always been friendly, courteous and helpful. :) My favorites are: Scones(pretty much any of them, but especially the red, white and blue), garlic cheddar bread(perfect to accompany any Italian meal, and plain delicious by itself), and the cobbler breads(made with seasonally fresh fruits as available at the local farmers market). Prices are a little high, but you do get what you pay for. This is the best quality bread/baked goods I’ve found outside of actually making it at home myself.

My favorite local bakery — Great Harvest Bread Co., located in Old Town Warrenton, VA — is also a vendor at the Bristow Farmer’s Market located at the Montessori School in Bristow, VA. You can come by here to get loaves of amazing breads — bread you can’t get at the grocery store! They also have other offerings: cookies and other treats, whatever the incomparable Pablo Teodoro and staff have decided to bring along for that Sunday! Check ‘em out! You’ll become a disciple of their bread! :-)
