Ok. So to start off with I should say I used to be an Esthetician who also did body work and when i go to get a spa treatment I rarely ever tell the person working on me unless they suck or are spouting untrue statements about skin/skincare. I went to J Lex for the first time today totally unplanned. Really bad stressful day+ anxiety = immediate need for pampering(especially on payday). I walked in and was immediately greeted by really friendly employees and shown to the seating area while I waited for my Massage Therapist to show up. This is usually the point for me when I start second guessing the amount of money I am going to spend for something so frivolous and then I start to worry that the Therapist will be really lackluster and I’ll just be pissed the whole time. Ruth my therapist showed up shortly after my arrival with a warm smile and overall good vibe. Once she was set up in the room, I was made to feel immediately comfortable. Even though I could still hear the chatter of the salon a bit, it totally didn’t matter. Effing nirvana. No joke. Ruth is seriously one of the best if not the best massage therapist I have ever experienced(being a massage junky I can’t even count the times that I’ve had massages). The girls there were so friendly that I wanted to just stay to chat afterwards, I haven’t had any of their hair treatments yet but I can already tell I’ll be impressed in that department as well.

Stopped in today for the first time. Needed a pedi and they were able to take me right in as a walk-in. Yes, the place is bare bones and no frills but, who cares? If I wanted fluff, I’ll pay more than necessary, struggle to find parking and go to a salon on Newbury St(NEVER!). My toes look AMAZING! And $ 23 for a pedi is a fantastic price. I’ll be going back for sure!!!

Went there for just a blow-dry and got charged for $ 35. The lady doesn’t speak English. Hard to communicate, but she kind of did a good job except she burned my head a bit. Will try a different salon next time.

Threading is the best. Suman knows how to shape ANY kind of brow. I barely have eyebrows but for some reason I walk out looking so cleaned up. Love her!

Oh my god! How did I not find this place before! This is one of those moments where I wish I checked Unilocal before leaving the house !!! WHTTHEFRACK! I’ve always traveled to Watertown arsenal mall and waited in a Horrible line(there’s always a line there!) for eyebrow threading for $ 10 not including tip. But I randomly just Unilocaled eyebrow threading close to home and found this gem! Parking isn’t too difficult if you go on the off peak hours but then again it seems like moody st is always packed with cars. I was lucky enough to find a street space without parallel parking and no meter! This factor is super important to me because … not hating … but I have 3 things going against me– Asian, Girl, Boston. But yea– make sure you read the signs of where you can park, when! $ 7 bucks for eyebrow threading– takes cash and credit! Daymnnnnn sorry for the fake expletives I am super excited!!! Never paid this low for eyebrow threading. I would have done 5 stars but there were places where she didn’t really take off. I have light hair but it should be completely clean.

The only reason I go here is for the threading. Suman is fantastic! She does a great job and really listens to what you want for your eyebrows. I’d agree with the characterization that the salon atmosphere is weird, and the only thing I’d change is the prices, although the threading prices are comparable to most Boston Indian threading locations.

I go here to get my eyebrows threaded for $ 7 by a masterful Indian auntie. This ‘spa’ is super weird — never seems to have customers, kinda dingy, weird murals everywhere. I’m not exactly inspired to come for any other services.
