My review is biased by the fact that I love small-​town chinese restaurants that exceed my expectations (so really this place probably deserves a 4 more than a 5; however, no one said that Unilocal reviews are all objective and unbiased by perception!)
because we were hungry, we pulled off of the highway briefly to drive through this segment of wallingford and I was craving the food of my people so I just pulled in. honestly, for such a dingy place, I was expecting massively greasy barely edible dough covered food. i was pleasantly surprised.
fairly cheap, food is pretty good, ambiance sucks, but in all, it is more than meets the eye. beating expectation counts for a lot. the general tso, the spare ribs and the szechuan beef were all better iterations of their typical wok self

I really don’t understand the bad reviews of this place. I came away perfectly satisfied from my lunch here. As far as General Tso’s chicken goes, this place did a good job, all outside appearances of the restaurant to the contrary. Nice and crispy chicken, and well coated with sauce. The Szechuan beef was pretty good too. They also made a mistake on one of the other lunch orders, and they gave me a free spring roll, which was very nice of them, given that the meal itself was just $ 6.12.
It’s a carryout place, but there are a few tables available for customers.

I always get delivery from them and its good. I think the food is good quality for the price. I ordered from a difference place because they were closed once and I was disappointed because they threw the chicken in the take out box plain with plain white rice on the side. They give you pork fried rice here in the container with the chicken plus egg rolls on the side. My favorite so far.

Horrible horrible horrible. I never write bad reviews, but two weeks ago we ordered takeout and it took an hour and a half and today we ordered again and two hours later it did not arrive. We called and checked in and they assured us it was on the way (an hour and a half in). At the two hour mark we called again and they said again driver was on the road. No offer to make it better etc. we will never order from china king again.

Didn’t like the boneless spare rips. It tasted funny and it wasn’t stripes of meat it was more like chuck of fat that was my first time having spare ribs like that.

Since I live near this place, I get to «sample» this place «by air» everyday. The food is good. The service is prompt, unlike other Chinese places around. Can’t say the staff strikes me as above average. Once walked in there to a roaring mother-​daughter screaming match behind the counter. The appearance of the place is pretty bad. Dingy, and windows could use washing. Looking over the counter into the kitchen reveals an old, kind of run down place. It’s in an old, dilapidated building. Wouldn’t enjoy eating there. But maybe that’s how they keep prices reasonable. Go there once in a while due to convenience but can do as well elsewhere.

This little place really accomodates your every wish in the food preperation, very friendly staff, great portions and super prices. chicken fingers are delicious, as is the won ton soup on a cold ct night!

Really awesome chinese food place! General Tso’s is a little spicy, which is pretty awesome. I really enjoy their food!

There are so many Chinese take-​away places in Wallingford. China King is my favorite.
The food is so good and the prices are far-​lower than any of the others.
I am vegetarian and they’ll make most anything I want with tofu substituted for the meat or chicken.
Their hot & sour soup is amazing.
I agree with Jesse that the people who work there are quite nice.

The windows may not be perfect, but the food is really good.
One of the best Chinese food places in Wallingford. The people who work here are always very nice and the food is inexpensive.
