We chose Froggies again for the New Years celebration mainly supporting The Almost Famous Band. This year we reserved a table; last year we were in the back in a much crowded area. On to the issues this year. Main issue is the food and beverage tickets. The Salmon was pretty good but it was a really sweet teriyaki«sauce». My husband had the steak, actually did not because he couldn’t eat it. The steak was very thin and a lot of fat… not a good steak at all and not the New York strip that was on the menu! We also ordernd The roasted Zucchini… definitely not roasted more like warmed in the oben. Domestic beer for the tickets, not draft and not Jingling. With the wine order plastic cups were brought. Overall a poor experience.

I would love to give this place 4 stars, but it was merely based on the service. I loved the wings and their prices, but I didn’t understand why it took FOREVER to get our food. There was only 3 tables in the entire restaurant, we were a party of 4. There was times we didn’t see the server at all, I thought it was shift change or something.

Had a girls night out at this restaurant that was close to one of my friends job. Came in on a Wednesday night at around 5:30. They immediately seated us since it was a bit empty at the time. Décor seems a bit beachy to me. With a good amount of frogs around the area and beat up different color chairs. Mixture of high tables and booths. They have two pool tables. Wednesday night was open mic and by the time we left they had started singing a bit. Food was a hit and miss. The girls and I decided to go for several appetizers and we shared them. We had fried pickles to start which were extremely small portions. Then had the BBQ bacon wrapped shrimp. This one was not worth it at all. Completely overpriced for maybe 5 pieces of shrimp at most. We then had the frog nachos with chicken. I would rather have Moe’s nachos than this place. It was pretty reasonable in price but they can do a bit better on the nachos. We had lumpia which were okay I wasn’t that fascinated by them. My favorite one out of all of them was the cowboy roll that tortilla that they wrapped it in was amazing! I had the strawberry lemon crush and it was really good. It had a kick in the beginning but eventually went off. Service was adequate. Our server stopped a couple of times to make sure we were okay. My friend’s drink had a fly inside of it and she kindly took it back to replace it. Parking was very confusing. They have limited parking and the lines aren’t fully made so it’s hard to see where you can park. The parking side facing shore drive was extremely dangerous cause it feels like your parked on the road itself. I would go again maybe for drinks and some cowboy rolls and maybe try some of their dinner options but so far their appetizers were a hit and miss.

Our first time here last night. It was great! The atmosphere made us feel right at home. And the food was fantastic. I had a rib eye that was cooked to perfection. Hubby had the ribs. And frog legs!

Awesome place! Food is amazing, creative, and delicious! They have great deals every night and always bring in enjoyable live music. They have Sunday ticket and all big sport events. Wait staff and bar tenders are awesome as well

I am going 4 stars the wife not so much lol! Its a beach bar with an awesome beer selection! The Nachos with pulled pork were huge and tasted great and price was decent for all! I will definitely be back with the guys or solo for a game while an older place I like that, wife was turned off by the really high bar(yeah odd) no foot rail(she had knee surgery not good) and very loud tv’s now granted 20 years ago no problem but in late 40’s you like the nicer sometimes. That said Froggies is a solid 4 in my book and i might have to pop back in from time to time!

My husband and I came to Froggie’s for the first time, we were actually looking for a club meeting that was going to be there, but instead found a very pleasant restaurant that was just what we needed! The staff is extremely friendly and personable ~ the manager is very attentive throughout the entire restaurant. Our meals were very good and tasty ~ the burger we got was cooked perfectly and was juicy and a good size. We got the nachos too that was a really big portion, so our kids got to eat some when we brought the rest home. Our drinks never ran empty, because the staff was awesome. Even though it was raining outside, this place was rockin’ at about 7pm. They also had a guitar and violin player who were very good and played some really great hit songs. Thank you, Froggie’s for being super nice & super awesome!

No clue how this place only has 3 stars. I’ve only been once, maybe they were having a great day. Who knows? I had a grilled cheese burger that was amazing and my girlfriend loved her burrito. The margaritas were good too. We ate out on the deck and brought our dog. The staff was very friendly and brought him plenty of water. Going back soon.

Froggies Cantina sits near the Lesner Bridge overlooking Chesapeake Bay in Virginia Beach.(Not on the water*) Parking is a bit limited especially during the summer months because of beach-goers but the Shore Drive location is prime real estate. This place is spacious and has plenty of room for parties with two full bars, patios, and large dining areas. Lots of local musical artists and clientele! They offer daily food and drink specials and a decent beer selection. For the low prices, the food is surprisingly tasty and the service has always been accommodating! If you are a soccer fan, I come out to watch my beloved Arsenal Football Club play on tv with a bunch of other Virginia Beach Gooners! Fun time and the staff love us!

This place is a dive bar and I don’t mean that as an insult. It’s a great place to grab a brew and a burger(5 Stars for the burger) watch a game and hang out. But don’t come here with expectations of a fancy meal or with small kids. It’s loud and depending on the crowd it can be rough around the edges.

We had a wonderful afternoon here! Great place to hang out and talk with friends and family. I was offered some local craft beer samples and they were delicious. Service was excellent. My only complaint was the Cuban sandwich was not the best. They used pulled pork which was dry. Other than that I enjoyed it and will return to try a different sandwich.

Froggie’s is a family favorite. It’s one of the first places I ate on Shore Drive, and it’s one of the places I always go back to… The FOUR stars would be five — but I don’t want to your expectations to be too high. So much at Froggie’s right and good!!! — Good deals/specials, good food, very friendly service, etc… You occasionally have to overlook something little(like a missing fork, or an extra five minutes for your food) — whatever! You’re at the beach, it’s cool inside. Take it easy.

Bobby & I go to FROGGIES often as we love the ambience & the food! Really fun place ~ very happening & great entertainment! Probably geared toward those that are a ittle more fun & mature than the ‘Millennials’ though! Most of them just don’t have a clue yet!

I’ve been here twice now. First time: came in the winter on a Saturday early evening I believe. It was pretty empty from what I recall but we sat in the restaurant area. They were pretty accommodating, exchanging out a hamburger for chicken on one of their hamburger entrees. It was average, nothing special. I believe I had the mushroom onion sandwich. Nothing to complain about but nothing to write home about either. I do remember it was very loud in the bar area which made it difficult to chat even in the sit down area. I just went last night again(Sunday in the summer). It was a lot more busy than last time. They had live music but I found it more annoying and unattractive then anything. It was also pretty warm inside, didn’t seem like they had air conditioning, just fans, and it was in the 90s today. We sat outside because honestly it felt stuffy and loud inside. I was very disappointed that they A) do not have a separate non smoking section outside(we’re by the beach so outdoor seating is a staple yet most places have a separate smoking area) and B) there was no lanterns/torches to keep the bugs away. In this area mosquitos are horrendous so to have an outdoor area and no attempt to even remotely keep the mosquitos away was disappointing(I was eaten alive outside). And the smokers were surrounding our table so all throughout dinner we had smoke blown our direction. My boyfriend ordered a beer. They were out. He ordered another beer. The keg blew. He ordered a third beer, they were out. Finally his fourth beer order he got. I think they should have given some sort of discount seeing as their ability to keep their taps available was limited, he had to go for his fourth choice. Alas, they did not. I got a mango pineapple mixed drink. It was pretty good. We ordered the fajita for two meal. They were again accommodating and allowed us to get steak and shrimp(they only had listed shrimp and scallop combo or chicken and steak combo). When it arrived I already recognized that what was in front of us was NOT enough for two people. Our friend that was with us ordered the shrimp and scallop fajita for one and it looked like we had pretty much the same portions he did, just with 6 tortillas instead of 3. I wasn’t wrong. We put one strip of steak and one shrimp on each tortilla, we still had 2 fajitas left and no more meat/seafood left. I was very disappointed. We paid $ 25 and got 4.5 tortillas worth of food. The food was also bland. It’s pretty difficult to mess up fajitas. The shrimp was fine, vegetables very limited and super thinly sliced. The steak was overcooked and very tough. All in all I wouldn’t say this place is horrible. I just won’t be going there again. The food is either average at best or bland, nondescript, and not enough. The clientele seems to be a lot of people in their late 40s who are pretending to be hard core bikers. There was a lot of unregulated cursing in the dining area, very distasteful. I understand on a Friday or Saturday night that happening, I’m still in my 20s, but going around 7p on a Sunday, I wanted to relax, not cringe with the loud music(which we still had to talk over) and the less than savory clientele. Sorry froggies, a fake bikers bar that serves sub par food is just not my cup of tea.

Worst food I’ve had on the bay. Went there on a Saturday night, didn’t seem overly busy but we patiently waited for our food that was presented to us about an hour and a half after ordering. We tried the crab dip appetizer-tasted bland and it was certainly hard to find and taste the crab in it. My boyfriend ordered their fried seafood platter, also tasteless and overbattered. I tried their pork n fig sandwich, another bland dish. A disappointing ending to our Saturday on the beach. Certainly won’t return.

We had an excellent brunch here last week! We came hungry and left completely satisfied. We were greeted by the friendly staff and seated right away. The atmosphere is colorful and welcoming. They also had $ 2 drink specials and we tried the mimosas! Awesome but a little strong! :) we will definity be back if we’re in the area again!

This review is a draft I’ve been sitting on since mid-February. I took mom to lunch here on a Tuesday afternoon which was the 16th. I remember that clearly because it was the day the snow started to come down. Anyway Mom and a friend of hers like to come here so I figured I’d give it a try. This building has been several restaurants over the years and is clearly showing it’s age inside and out. We grabbed a booth right inside the front door and a waiter/bartender came over and gave us some menus. The place was about a quarter full and he appeared to be the only one working besides someone in the kitchen. Much to my surprise when the waiter/bartender came back Mom ordered a margarita. I had a Coke. I said«Mom don’t you think it’s a little bit early for a drink?» to which she replied«The sun’s over the yardarm somewhere in the world». Right on Mom! We placed our food orders and started to wait. Lunch was pretty slow coming out and while we were waiting the place also started to fill up. I guess a lot of people had the day off due to the inbound snow. Eventually the food came to the table. Mom and I split a chicken quesadilla for the appetizer. She had a chicken salad wrap for lunch and I opted for a bacon cheeseburger. Unfortunately my bacon & cheese was missing and I had to flag the server down. He apologized and got that taken care of right away. He was hoofing it and I give him credit. Taking care of a entire floor while you’re the only person out there isn’t the easiest job int he world by far. The snow was starting to dust outside and we finished our meals up. Mom really enjoyed hers. Mine was pretty good as well. We wrapped things up and took our leave before the snow started to thicken up.

Really nice casual and unpretentious, friendly atmosphere. 4 $ draft til 9 pm from a long list of great beers I had Stella. We had nachos for a light dinner Anyone would feel comfortable and welcome here. Great music. I will have to come back again to say more about the food but this is a true neighborhood place where you don’t have to be from the neighborhood to feel welcome

In a previous life, Froggie’s was a nondescript Microwave Mexican joint that had a fairly decent lunchtime following. I never bothered stopping in after 5PM, even though the layout of the place had some serious potential. Then Froggie’s Cantina By The Bay was born. Good call. In my book, this is the quintessential ‘Bay Locals’ joint. Local music, local beers on tap, everything on the menu made to order. Not that the random tourist wouldn’t be welcome, but it is more than likely that the locals would gently point them further down Shore Drive toward the Ocean and the rest of their friends with out of state license plates. But I digress. The menu is utilitarian. That sounds harsh but it isn’t meant that way. This is a familiar menu where you will find something to satisfy. The Big Ol’ Burrito was a pleasant surprise on the last visit, it has just the right amount of kick and is a generous portion. The rest of the menu is your usual selection of sandwiches, burgers, seafood, steaks, etc. As well, there are daily/nightly specials printed on the wall and a chef’s selection of the day(usually two) that are handed to you as an additional menu. So while you won’t find anything that is set on fire table side, you will find something tasty and completely in line with the locals nature of Froggie’s. On the weekends, there is a band for your dining and dancing pleasure. Even though the place isn’t huge, the volume from the music never overwhelms your conversations at the bar. Froggie’s has become a regular stop for some of the area’s finest musicians, so stop talking and give a listen, you won’t be disappointed. Speaking of conversation, you can easily meet new friends at the bar. The vibe is casual, relaxed, and non-pretentious. So let’s recap. shall we? Food: Check Local Beer: Check Vibe: Check Music: Check Conversation: Check Yep, Froggie’s Cantina By The Bay hits the mark on each. This started out as a 3 star review, but the more that I took in about Froggie’s the more if felt like Yay! I’m a fan. And I am.

Kate the bartender was wonderful. They remodeled about five months ago and it looks nice. Menu is eclectic, so you can actually get more than just Mexican food. The special scallop bruschetta was pretty darn tasty as the fish tacos, made white fried fish bites, cabbage, onions, cheese, and sriracha. I personally don’t like cheese on my fish tacos, but these were good. The beer on tap selection is great and they even have a cider. Local bands on specified evenings, Locals hangout, but then again… it’s not tourist season.
