We totally lucked out by choosing to eat dinner at the Verdi Grill and Pizzeria on the 3rd Friday of the month. After dinner we headed to the Distillery to taste their whiskey. I will say that whiskey is usually not on my alcohol radar but was willing to try the local offering with my son. I was totally impressed. We ended up purchasing both the Apple Cinnamon and Mahogany whiskeys. VERY good and we will definitely be back!

Verdi Local Distillery is one place where size definitely doesn’t matter. In fact, this could prove to be the world’s smallest distillery! At least that’s what owners Jeremy and Katie hope the Guinness Book will determine in the next few months. Verdi Local is tucked away in the hills just outside of NW Reno. They’ve set up inside an old house that had all the rustic charm you’d expect in a place like this, which makes it an exceptional place to visit in any season. Inside, the entire distilling operation sits in plain sight, with shiny stills and columns controlled by a board in the center of what once was the living area of this home. In the dining room you’ll find a sweet wooden dining room table perfect for gathering with friends and sipping whiskey, and the kitcheb itself has been converted to a bar, with the pass through window proudly displaying all of the products they’ve created. Verdi Local is most known for they’re apple cinnamon whiskey, which is lower in proof and perfect for mixing into cocktails, but they’ve also made seasonal flavors including lemonade and most recently a pumpkin spice flavor called the Headless Horseman! I’m certainly more of a whiskey purist, and it’s easy to take this stuff way too seriously, which is why I really appreciate what Verdi Local is doing. They’re having fun with the art of distilling and sharing that spirit, personality and sense of humor with all of us through their products, and doing a damn fine job if I do say so myself.

My husband and I randomly decided to stop by on a whim for a tasting and quick tour. We ended up leaving with several bottles of different kinds of whiskey and some gin. It’s a cute little distillery and the lady working(who owns the distillery with her husband – they do everything from hand by themselves) was very nice.

So many tasty spirits, I was pleasantly surprised with the variety they had. The Apple Cinnamon and the Mahogany Whiskey were my favorites. I am not a huge gin fan but they offer an incredible one, we grabbed a gift bottle for some friends. The tasting was great and the owners are very nice. We will be back for more spirits soon!

A great place to lift your ‘spirits’ and upgrade your home bar at the same time! The Verdi Local Distillery is just that. As you walk in, you immediately feel like you just walked into your best friend’s house that he’s turned into a distillery. Everything is front and center. The place is as inviting as the proprietors. We went last Friday(finally!) for there bi-monthly tastings(1st and 3rd Fridays) and what a fun experience. Ask Jeremy for at tour to see the concoctions he’s working on. You’ll also be treated to a complimentary beverage that features one of their current or near current creations. The Apple Cinnamon Whiskey is more cordial than straight up whiskey, dangerous as the bottle soon empties. Fun, casual experience in the heart of Verdi.

What a great little place to hang out! The third distillery in Nevada I’ve learned. Very inviting, the owners remodeled the place themselves and you can most certainly tell they are proud of their accomplishments. We went to do a 10 questions with interview for our podcast tonight. Very welcoming and comfortable place. Take a tour! Their Whiskeys are very tasty!!! They schedule tasting events as well so, make sure to look them up on Facebook or call:) I love Verdi and I think this is a perfect fit. You must check it out. Only 4 exits from downtown!!!

Amazing little spot not too far from Reno or Truckee! The space is cozy and the whiskey is truly awesome. Check into free whiskey tastings or bring home a couple bottles to enjoy. I had a Verdi mule; their version of a Moscow mule using apple cinnamon whiskey. Right now they’re usually only open Tuesday to Thursday but if you FB stalk the distillery you might find some odd hours :)
