I bought a Groupon for my one year anniversary and arranged a romantic evening with my boyfriend who was home for a couple weeks from deployment. Just a few hours before my reservation time I received a text that the boats weren’t working and I had to reschedule. As that wasn’t an option since my boyfriend was leaving in a couple days. Disappointed, but we made new arrangements via texting (as my phone calls were never answered) to be taken to Catalina. I tried to contact them to confirm my reservation to be practically ignored. I explained my situation via text and never heard back until I asked for my money back as by this point I didn’t even want to try this company. My experience was overall disappointing and I thought the way of communication was unprofessional. My plans in the making had been over a 6 month period and was sorely disappointed to not be able to enjoy this experience.

Went on a dozen trips with Goby over the past couple months and I’m a huge fan. Convenient departure out of Marina del Rey, quick and exhilarating ride to the local reefs and wrecks, truly personalized and custom tailored service. Hunting fish/​lobster, photography, instruction, fun diving, whatever your need, the boat captain/​instructor Adam works very hard to make it a fun and memorable experience.

What is great about the Goby is there’s nothing else I can find that gets you out to these hidden or under visited dive sites. If you’ve been there a dozen times already, you definitely won’t dive it with AJ. He knows the hidden reefs that are uncharted off LA. He’s also a master hunter and finds me the big bugs and fishies.
The Goby is a military grade inflatable. That’s all you really need for a fast run out to these dive sites with 4 or 5 aboard.

This boat is exactly as advertised, wanna get in a couple great dives and be back in time for lunch? Takes you to a great spot or two, quickly. Perfect for a busy schedule, without the hassle, effort, and SAND of a beach dive. The Captain is top-​notch; knowledgeable, skilled, and passionate about diving, he makes sure you have a great time!

The Goby is a small inflatable boat those navy seals use, i like it cuz it will take u to those hidden spots that large boats can’t go to. Definitely a great find if you want to do boat dives more often in this lobster season but having a budget. The captain is super nice, he always make sure the customers are happy. There is one time he even caught a lobster and gave it to me after i made two failed attempt and feeling bummed out.
What’s more awesome is there are spearguns and underwater cameras on the boat for you to borrow, you can just bring your own SD cards and take home all the photos after you’re done.
i highly recommend it
