Oil Can Henry’s

I really didn’t want to leave a review about this. I gave them the opportunity to rectify the way I was treated but it didn’t live up to my reasonable expectation.
Do not go here. Go to Hi-​Way Fuel in Washougal.
I work 7 days a week from 9am-​7pm with a 30 minute lunch break. If there was a location close to my work then I would certainly have tried to make it in at 8am but that is unfortunately not the case. On top of my regular day job, I am an evening to late night Lyft and Über driver that depends heavily on my car and it being well maintained. I have chosen Oil Can Henry’s as my exclusive maintenance stop since I got my new Mazda. I took off from work an hour early to give me time to make it to Oil Can Henry’s in Vancouver on my way home from work. I arrived at 6:25PM and waited behind one vehicle for 30 minutes before someone came out to my car. I was then informed that they will be closing at 7PM and could not fit me in that night, I was told to come in the next morning at 8 AM. Monday’s are very busy for me and I was overdue for an oil change. The fact that I had to wait half an hour just to be told to come back at 8AM was not only rude but it now has forced me to take the night off from my evening job. If I didn’t depend on the evening job to pay for my vehicle, maintenance, and health insurance I wouldn’t mind a day off here and there. Now I have to make up those hours over the weekend. I work in retail customer service and take pride in my work and common courtesy toward my customers. After the way that I was treated I will never be returning to Oil Can Henry’s again. It’s unflattering because I had such a wonderful experience the last time I was in at the Portland location. Even JiffyLube can be more courteous and conscientious of my time. I contacted the manager of the location to inform them of the way that I was treated, and she expressed to me that this is not how Oil Can Henry’s treats customers. She offered me a $ 10 coupon… If my vehicle didn’t require a full synthetic oil change then it would have been a decent gesture, that however does not entice me to come back. I had a net loss of over $ 250 for the night, and all she wanted to do was give me $ 10… I will give the discount card to someone else who can use it at a normal hour in he day. And will never be returning to Oil Can Henry’s.

It was fine, but the wait was an hour. They only have to carports. And there was two cars in front of me when I arrived so that was too bad. I would rate better but advise only to stop in if there are no cars in front of you.

Just got my oil changed in my 2012 Grand Jeep Cherokee and was very very happy with my service. Pete was in charge of my service and did a great job. They were fast and friendly. I will most certainly be returning for my next service!!!

Very happy with Ryan the manager. He went above and beyond and even put my plates on. Great service, not trying to oversell and shove unneeded services down my throat. Really enjoy this place and I always come here and will continue to do so!

A big thank you to Tony there for the great service! I had to wait for a while in line to get my oil changed, but it was worth it! The oil really needed to be changed on my friend’s car & there was no way that I was going to change it myself, so I had to get it to somewhere reliable to get it done right. Thanks for the great service!

The staff at most Oil Can Henry’s are very friendly, but at this location they are especially happy and provide fast service. My complaint is how busy they get. I don’t know if they have a large enough workshop for this location.

I appreciate the speed of service. I don’t enjoy the 20-​questions and strongly suggested added services. The final time I pulled in, my caretaker was obviously miffed at someone at work. He was snotty and snarky toward me and my refusals for the «obviously needed added services,» if I wanted my car to continue performing for me. I am the one who takes in our cars for service, and that visit was the final straw. There are too many places near my residence that provide the same service for me to put up with the attitude.

Great service. A little pricey, but if you bring a coupon, that takes the edge off. Sometimes they can be pushy on the up-​selling. However, that’s the standard model in this industry.

Horribly, horribly SLOW…
I thought it might have been a fluke waiting for one car for over an hour last time. but again today. I waited from 9:30~11:20!!! For ONE car that was already being serviced upon arrival.

Why do I consistently find myself at OCH? Convenient, especially having the option to get an oil change on Sundays. However, convenience is not going to bring me back any longer…
Up-​selling is beyond aggravating especially having just waited 60mins for an oil change. No one bothered to explain the reason for the wait and I was forced to stay as I was blocked into my spot by other vehicles.
I think I would rather bring my car to my trusted mechanic during the week, (huge inconvenience to drop my car off for an entire day having to find a ride to and from work), spend half the money, hassled way less, and not lose part of my only day of the week off.
The employees are nice enough but I’m sure they could sense my annoyance by the time my 2.5hr oil change was complete. I realize they are forced to mention every flaw and issue my 14yr old car has in order to obtain their paychecks, but I’m well aware.
My two star rating goes to the employee and nothing else.

Something I remembered after writing my original review and after receiving a response from OCH Customer Relations:
I’d like to point out that I also was not offered a complimentary newspaper or even a price list so that I could see for myself the cost of their products/​services (I had to ask for this). I was advised that the 2 options I had of synthetic oils were «all that was in stock», NOT that they were the only oils in existence that could possibly be put into my vehicle.
Sounds like bait and switch to me.
Vancouver Toyota charged me just under $ 54 for an oil change with a tire rotation and car wash, FYI.

I was looking for the quick oil change, conveniently I print coupon from the website. The guy was pushing for the synthetic oil, which is ok by me, because many of them do. However, the guy told me, if I want to keep the recommended by manufacture oil change interval of 5K I had to go with synthetic oil. I invited the guy to look at my owners manual to show that it ‘s recommended by my manufacture conventional oil with the interval of 5K, he arrogantly replied that he is looking at something similar everyday. So he just proofed his lack of knowledge, but also acknowledge the fact that he fooled customers everyday.
So after 5 months and 5 000 miles I did the next oil change myself. What I have found really pissed me off. They have changed my OEM drain plug with aluminum low quality plug. Never again I will bring business to Oil Can Henry’s.

I’ve been borrowing my daughter’s car and noticed the Oil Can Henry’s sticker on the window. The sticker told me the car was long overdue for an oil change. I was cruising through her burg – Vancouver – so I decided to stop in for the service.
Now, my brother used to live in West Hollywood, and he was always talking about a particular cowboy bar he liked to frequent called Oil Can HARRY’S. Hmmm, that got me thinking about what came first – the bar or the oil change business. Perhaps Oil Can Harry and Oil Can Henry are twins, like me and my bro. Hmmm. In any case, I digress to the 10^th degree. Forgive me.
Oil Can Henry’s is much like many of the other drive-​thru oil change places I’ve patronized in the past, except they make their employee’s wear old-​fashioned 1920’s inspired outfits. Flat hats and suspenders, on my. I worked at Knott’s Berry Farm when I was in college and my uniform was only slightly more humiliating.
The fellow who greeted me gave me a newspaper to read – USA Today – and it wasn’t too long before the pit crew swarmed my car. Like the other oil change chains, they tried to sell me on every other kind of service: transmission, engine flush, air filter. They weren’t as hard sell as some of the other joints, though. They got me in and out in about 10 minutes. Not bad.
I’d take my own car to Oil Can Henry’s for sure. I wonder if they have line dancing lessons on the weekends?

I just had my oil changed again and think the service is great. Who knew an oil changing place could have such great customer service. I will be back.
