3.5 stars Before visiting the parents, came by this plaza to do some grocery shopping. Decided to come her for late lunch. Cheaper than chowking and definitely better tasting. Like definitely. Fish sisig meal was surprisingly good. Although it said on the menu that it comes with soup but I didn’t get one. Husband got the grilled chicken, very tasty. I was surpirsed this place had good food. One downside food kinda took long.

I went here after work and very hungry and craving for Filipino food. I ordered combo silog with taho. First, customer service is okay. The person at the register did not give me an eye contact when she asked me about my order. She was busy on her cell phone. The old lady was nice enough to ask me how I am doing. I ordered at 4:15pm and they took 30 minutes to give me the food. I was the only customer in the restaurant. It was not busy at all. I had to ask after 30 minutes if the food was ready. I think it has been ready and they thought it was to go which doesn’t make sense. The food was okay. I was disappointed by the service and the wait time.

This is a hidden gem in Union City. We didn’t know what to order at first, It was our first time here. The Lady behind the counter gave us some suggestions, So we decided to try the BBQ over rice($ 5.50). To our surprise! It was so good and the meat is cooked to perfection. The meat had a perfect grilled texture to it. We also tried the dinuguan over rice and order of palabok. They are generous with their serving portions… so much more than you would get at any other Filipino restaurants. Service here is very friendly and we got to meet Ka Linda, super sweet lady. I can’t wait to come back and try their lunch buffet(only $ 6.99) and their catering service.

very slow service. I ordered a small pancit malabon to be pick up at 3:30pm, I came to pick it up at 3:35pm and still not ready. I waited until 4:10pm.

Silogs were very good, reasonable portions and nice texture on all the meats. 1 star off for cleanliness. They need to give this place a scrubdown, and the food trays had the remnants of the last diners meal stuck to them.

This review is based on the lumpia only. I’ve had the vegetarian lumpia from here a few times; a friend regularly brings it to gatherings. It has a good amount of filling, very tasty garlic-vinegar sauce comes with it, and it’s just darn yummy! My friends are also a fan of the meat lumpia(skinnier), which comes with a sweet and sour sauce. I hope my friend keeps ordering from here because I’m enjoying it!

I was in Union City one morning and a friend suggested this place. Its a «hole in the wall» and the part of the restaurant has two seemingly independent businesses, selling shirts and random«knick knacks». I don’t remember what the other one was all about it may have been calling cards. I came for the food. The buffet was good and very reasonable. On another occasion I tried the lumpia shanghai, which is a standard test of Filipino food for me. I also tried the pancit malabon, bulak– lak, and sisig, both exceptionally well made and tasted delish. I can tell some real love and effort went into making this food. The lady who ran the place was particularly amused that I speak tagalog and that made me the entertainment show pony for the place. I should not have said anything until after I ate. I’m definitely coming back here.

I have had a serious craving for longanisa for about 3 weeks. My fave lil resto in San Mateo is closed down, so I checked Unilocal to find an alternative in the Une. I saw that Ka Linda has some great reviews, and since they are supposed to open early, it would be a great pit stop for us on our way outta town. I called first to make sure they’d be open, but there’s no outgoing message with their hours(Grrrrr). According to Unilocal though, they open at 8am, so we went with that. We got there at 9:30am, walked in, and there were 3 people sitting around chatting. Since no one asked us if we need help, I asked if we just seat ourselves, or… then one of them answered, oh, we’re closed today. Wait, what?!! The doors are open, lights are on, I’m here during your business hours(yes, I looked over and checked the sign), WTH do you mean you’re closed? They just shrugged their shoulders, like… oh well for you. New Luk doesn’t open til 10:30. The longanisa gods are working against me. I’m going to Island Pacific to buy some longanisa and cook em myself! Argh!

I found this small Filipino restaurant after coming out of Seafood City. I saw«Filipino» and«BBQ» in the window, so I had to check it out. I was told from the hostess that they are known for their«BBQ» skewers. I tried the pork and the chicken and loved them. I would have to say I’m in love with their chicken BBQ skewers and have been back ever since just for that. They cook them to order and baste them with their BBQ sauce at the end, so it’s burned into the meat. So good. I want to try out their lechon now!

This place is good for your typical Filipino breakfast and traditional foods. I have been in this place many times and i keep forgetting to give a review of this place so here it is. Food is good and i have nothing really bad to say, Ka Linda and her husband are very nice people and makes sure that you’re eating good. We use«Ka» as a sign of Endearment and Respect back home in the Philippines just like they say«San» in Japanese or «Abu» in Arabic. plenty of parking outside and lots of filipinos you can get a chat when you’re home sick. Highly recommended in case you got tire eating at New Luk Yuen a few doors down w/c also serves Filipino food.

First time I visited this place last Monday night. I bought Pork BBQ, Pansit Bihon, Giniling, Sisig and Dinuguan to-go, in one of their small containers of course. I wanted something to eat for dinner as well as bring home to work for lunch. Oh emm gee! The food was abso-effin-lutely delicious to the max! No kidding. Home-made taste that I have been looking for in a long long time, from a restaurant that is. Tasted just like what my grandma used to make. You won’t need to add extra fish sauce or salt/pepper unlike other places. Their dishes were seasoned correctly. Their Sisig was the all around winner. I would have to go back for more with a bigger container. Next to that, the Pork BBQ. Tender, juicy, finger-lickin’ good! There goes my diet! You have to eat rice with Filipino food. You cannot have Filipino food without rice, or else it’s not going to be a complete experience. Well, except for when you’re replacing rice with pansit or lugaw or mami. :-) They had different dishes on their menu board, so I will definitely try them. This means I now have a great excuse to be lazy in cooking. HaHaHa Ka Linda was a very nice person. She was there to guide me with what they offer. Very attentive! She switched on the TV so I could watch TFC while I was waiting for my order. What a very kind lady! They do have a lot of customers coming and going to pick up phone orders. Great! I felt at home when I was there and will surely support this small mom-and-pop diner all the time. Try and visit. See you there!

Lunch buffet around 130pm located in the Seafood City plaza. Nice selection of warm food of about 12 dishes? and two soups. Pork sisig was a winner for Primo. The melon drink very refreshing. Place looks relatively clean. For dessert they had some warm fresh sweet ginataan. It’s a nice alternative from Chinese buffets and the lady was sweet and cares about her business. I’d be here more often but its a bit of a drive to get to. Decent Filipino buffet for about $ 7.50 after tax value can’t be beat.

I came in to order take for dinner. The dining area is not much to right about, I’m not sure I saw anyone eating there. Mainly people coming to pick up take out. Their Shanghai lumpias were really good. My hubby scarfed that down quick. I also ordered the pancit bihon, and lonsilong, and an order of turon for dessert. The pancit and lonsilong were decent, but nothing to write home about. The turon probably was the least liked out of all the dishes i purchased. The wrapper was too think it was too sweet. The lady behind the counter though was very nice and the service was rather quick even though I didn’t call in an order ahead of time. I might have to go back and try their lunch buffet another time to see after reading all the other reviews. If you’re hungry and you want bang for your buck, then this is a good choice. The food is not outstanding, but for the money its a good value.

I’m a fan because it is a great value for my money. For under $ 10 per person, we get to eat buffet(with melon juice and ginataan to boot!!). I don’t think it gets better than that in terms of value. But be warned that their dishes are oily and fatty. I only tried the sisig, dinuguan, chicharon, and sinigang na baboy. Their sisig is sooo good. I wish they’d open a branch in Hercules.

Can’t be $ 6 buffet!!! Came here with my dad, uncle and bf for lunch. I thought the quality of the food was just like home cooking! They had home made chicharon. SOGOOD! They also have refillable Cantaloupe juice. For dessert, ginatan! I really wished there were more Filipino restaurants around the Peninsula.

In the mood for Filipino food, my wife and I visited this restaurant based on Unilocal reviews and were not disappointed. The buffet, which I normally avoid at any restaurant, was fresh, delicious and authentic. We sampled the kare kare, sinagang, and others that I can’t spell accurately but are classic Filipino dishes. All were delicious. I, of course, ate too much We visited on a mid-Sunday afternoon and the price for the buffet was $ 6.99; our total bill was about $ 17 and change, including bottled water and a diet soft drink(excluding tip). Melinda, the owner, was very friendly and sociable. This is one restaurant worth the time and money. We shall return.

My mom was craving for some halo-halo, so after our phở lunch we came here. So what is halo-halo? Halo-halo is a Filipino dessert composed of shaved ice(like in a snow cone), sweetened condense milk, sweet beans, corn, pineapple gel, vanilla ice cream, avocado. The list can go on and on. This was my actual guest time coming here. Out of the Tri-City area, this place has the best halo-halo that I have tasted so far. Kinda pricey from others I have tried before but well worth it. As we waited for our order, my mom just started having a conversation with the lady working here. They were very friendly here. Also we were offered a sample of another Filipino dessert, Ginataan, free of charge. This dessert was served room temperature. It consisted of tapioca balls, jack fruit, and cassava root. Just google the dessert. I can’t really describe the dessert. It tasted sweet and refreshing. They also had a lunch buffet here. Unfortunately, didn’t get to try it since we had phở already. I’ll have to come here next time on a empty stomach to try the buffet. Great place with great people.

I wanted to have a nice lunch as my sister, mom, grandma and I rarely have days off to enjoy one another’s company. We opted to go here since the reviews on Unilocal gave ka Linda’s four stars. It was around lunch time and no customers were in there. We were greeted warmly and was shown to the buffet. I was rather confused because I didn’t know whether they only offered buffet style or if I could order to have it freshly made. The buffet items looked gross and all dried up after sitting there for hours. Thankfully I saw the rather hidden menu board and ordered from there. We ordered the jeffrox, palabok, halo halo and fresh lumpia. I was extremely disappointed with the food and my mom and grandma kept talking shit in another Filipino dialect so the restaurant owners won’t comprehend. The jeffrox is dried fried fish with garlic rice and egg. The fish was overly cooked and tasted burnt much like overcooked Bacon. The garlic rice had no flavor whatsoever and truth be told, I can make better garlic rice. The palabok was alright, that’s about the only thing that was decent. The halo halo had no flavor at all and lacked the additional topping of beans, fruits, tapioca pearls, ube, etc. After almost finishing our food our order of fresh lumpia and halo halo still hasn’t arrived. I went up there and the lady said they were still making it. We finally got our halo halo but no fresh lumpia and it was then that the server told me that they only offer it on weekends. The lady who took my order down didn’t even bother to tell me that they didn’t have it and instead she decided to place an order of fried lumpia on our bill. I thought the lumpia came with the jeffrox, but it didnt and she rang me up for something I didn’t even order. However, I paid the $ 35 regardless and accepted her offer of a party menu for future catering although I will never eat here again. Only plus side to ka Linda’s is the Filipino hospitality, as for the food you’re better off sticking to a Filipino mom’s homecooking!

I was craving Palabok and Dinuguaan last night but had no party to go to so, I had to resort to going to a local Filipino resto. Checked out Ka Linda’s, as the last time we’ve been to their location was 5 – 6 years ago when it was a Kadok’s. The lady who helped us was super nice, so nice I wanted to call her Auntie. She kept talking to us in Tagalog, which I understood completely but(bowing head in shame) I responded in English. The s/o gave me a dirty look for doing so but, I didn’t want to even attempt to speak some lamo Tagalog just for her to switch to English out of pure disgust. Ha! So I ordered my Dinuguaan w/rice, which came out to $ 5.50 and an order of Malabon also for $ 5.50 which was Auntie’s recommendation instead of Palabok. The s/o ordered a combo, which came with two items for $ 7.25, not a bad deal. The Dinuguaan was pretty good and I liked the pieces of pork they used, just a little bit of fat, mmm… so delish! There wasn’t any cartiledge pieces thankfully. The sauce had a little spice it, which I really liked. The Malabon was good, probably a bit too watery but, it fixed my craving. We’re definitely going to go back to Ka Linda’s to check out their daily buffet and their silog plates!

For the latest Pacquiao fight(in which he whooped ass AGAIN), I had an immense craving for pancit palabok. I asked my aunt for her recipe and she confessed that the pancit that we’ve been enjoying at the family parties was not made by her. She gets it from Ka Linda! What a cheater! I called to place an order for the small party tray of palabok and the man suggested the malabon instead because palabok spoils fast if it is just left outside. I took his advice and the malabon is just as delicious! It’s the same sauce as palabok, just a different noodle, already mixed together. The next time I attend a party, I am going to follow my aunt and order it from Ka Linda and say I made it. OH! Apparently, they have a daily lunch buffet from 11 – 4 and it is only $ 6.99! I definitely need to try it next time and will hopefully upgrade them to 5 stars.
