The best sushi in town! Nice patios. And great service. You should try the fried shrimp!

RA is one of my favorite Happy Hour spots and date night spots! I’ve tried a lot of menu items from there and they never disappoint! I think they have some awesome specialty rolls like the Viva Las Vegas rolls and delicious appetizers like the pineapple cream cheese wontons. They have your basic rolls too in case you’re not a fan of the fancy stuff. I love the big booths for groups and the bar area is a great atmosphere as well. The only downside is the customer service at times. I think they are a little slow to get to the table, wait on you, bring you something, or check on you. I was also bummed out that I couldn’t use my half birthday voucher for Happy Hour, but I made it work! Overall, I still enjoy coming to this restaurant and I’m bummed to hear the one in Gaslamp closed!

My girlfriend and I have finally found out sushi spot in Irvine! Quality: EXCELLENT Service: EXCEPTIONAL Bonus: THEY’REOPEN ‘TIL1am!!! I’m a sushi snob. I judge a sushi restaurant after just one bite of salmon nigiri. Been to a lot of places, including Michelin star sushi restaurant Kusakabe. In the nearby area, we’ve tried several places including Tokyo Table and Shunka, which were both disappointing due to the dry quality of fish. RA Sushi, on the other hand, was very impressive. We came here on a Saturday at 11pm hungry and hoping we’d get decent sushi. We were blown away. The various nigiri we ordered(salmon, albacore, mackerel) was fresh. The Las Vegas roll was astonishingly good, though that’s no surprise from all the other Unilocal reviews raving about it. We learned that RA sushi is owned by the same company as Benihana, so they have the right connections to get fresh fish. Now on to the service, which made our experience worth writing on Unilocal. We were greeted very warmly by the manager and our server, Alex. Alex was extremely pleasant and attentive. It isn’t common to find someone as friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to give you a good time as Alex was. He was quick to check on the availability of certain fish and explain the way a certain menu item is prepared. My girlfriend had a great time too. She didn’t like the strawberry sakettini drink because the strawberry was very overwhelming, but Alex was kind enough to take it back. Since this was our first time there, Alex surprised us with a complimentary cinnamon tempura ice cream… it was huge! We liked it a lot and took the remaining spoonful home because it was too good to waste. Overall, very satisfied and we have finally found our sushi spot in Irvine.

Happy hour 3pm-close on Sunday & I’m loving their HH menu. Maybe I was a little intoxicated or maybe the food is really as good as I thought because my girlfriend and I came by after our little paint night in the plaza to satisfy our sushi craving. Lucky for us, it was happy hour and we seated in the bar area. RA Sushi has a really large HH menu– larger than most sushi places… or even HH places! The seaweed salad was really good and tasty and the best dish was the cinnamon tempura ice cream! Delicious! I’ll definitely be back again if I’m in the area. :)

Cool and trendy place to meet up with friends for Happy Hour. Their food and drink offerings during that time are varied and reasonably priced. We especially liked the Calamari Tempura. That dish was delicious when paired with the dipping sauce. The Pacific Roll was okay, as were the Seared Tuna and Garlic Ponzu Yellowtail. Ha(sp?) was very helpful in giving us the details for a variety of alcoholic drinks that peaked our interest.

Love this place! The ambience is great, the staff very friendly and helpful, and most importantly the food is excellent. Prices are also decent. I recommend the Ra Sushi and Chips! Very tasty!

Came in Friday night for happy hour and really enjoyed our experience! Garlic edamame was our favorite. The sauce is to die for! We dipped our sushi into it too and was transported to heaven. Viva Las Vegas Roll, Mango Lobster Roll, Crispy Spicy Tuna, Crunchy Calamari Roll, and Pineapple Cream Cheese Wontons are all on point. Seasonal Gin and Juice drink is tasty — I hope they keep this drink around! Our server Hannah was our favorite part of our experience. Outgoing and personable right off the bat… makes you feel like you’re old friends who haven’t seen each other in a while. My daughter had an allergy and we were really surprised that she pre-asked about food allergies for her before we even had a chance to mention it. Hannah went out of her way to make sure all her food was safe to eat. Very knowledgable about all ingredients. We really appreciated her extra care. 100000 stars!

Definitely a frequent stop of mine. I love this place, it’s a trendy, upscale sushi bar with excellent happy hour specials and frequent holiday specials! Today for starters I had the Garlic Edamame for just over $ 5 which is a savory, buttery, garlicky delicious plate of edamame that I swear I order it every time I come in. For my entrée I went with the seasonal option to try something new, it was the Rackin’ Shrimp Tacos for only $ 7! I swear these small tacos are sooo good! I ordered a side of Pineapple Wonton Sauce to put on these bad boys as I felt it might add a zip to them and I was not disappointed, in fact I highly recommend trying it!!! As always service is very good here and I left very satisfied. The server Melissa was very helpful and attentive and the Manager was very nice as well he came by and checked on us and even made some suggestions of his own! Overall a great visit and I look forward to dining here again soon!

Melissa was our server today and she was great! Order the garlic edamame it is to die for. We ordered the $ 7 tacos(you get three, see my pic) and they were great! Also I decided to try the pineapple dipping sauce(which normally comes with wontons) to put on my tacos and it was so yummy!

If your looking for a classy sushi spot this is the place. We came here for a birthday with no reservation they seated us in seconds. Our waitress was amazing she gave us the best tips about picking the best sushi. Ciara R makes the best decisions. !!! Try the Pacific iv never had anything like it.

Happy hour specific, so I didn’t get anything outside the happy hour menu. The food was not bad, the standout was the calimari tempura, essentially fried calimari. However the squid was fairly thick tasty compared to the usual thinner calimari. The sushi rolls and nigiri were okay. The seared tuna was a little over sauced. Gyoza wasn’t bad. I liked the fried lotus root touch on the viva roll.

Came here a couple days ago with a friend for happy hour. We ordered the pineapple wontons, a rainbow roll, a viva las vegas roll and a couple drinks. The rainbow roll was my fave of all three but the other items weren’t far behind. The 4 stars I give this place are based on the happy hour(and it doesn’t hurt that my friend also had a coupon) definitely not the best sushi, but not bad either, especially for the happy hour prices.

Restaurant that is located in The District Tustin Marketplace where shops and other restaurants are a-plenty! I mainly come here for their happy hour as they have a pretty awesome Happy Hour menu and drinks that are decently priced! During Happy Hour times, you can literally sit there and munch on the edamames, gyozas, rolls, tempuras, etc. and order drink after drink if you have the right kind of Happy Hour crew! Each time we come here, we make reservations because it pays to make them and not have to stand around waiting! Our servers are always pretty attentive and keep our tables full and our drinks refilled consistently. There is outdoor seating right outside the restaurant hat faces the street and a rowdy pub facing the restaurant as well. When you are trying to locate the restaurant, it can be a bit hard to locate with the GPS. Instead, look for Bluewater Grill Seafood, park your car in that parking lot and then walk to the side(facing the driveway) and RA will be to your left hand side. TIP: Target is right across the street for the post eating walk & shop!

RA Sushi was very generous to hook me up with a $ 20 gift certificate during my half birthday(6 months after date of birth). I stopped by at 7pm hoping to avoid the happy hour crowd, but it turns out that even on a weekday, the entire restaurant was jam packed with customers. This restaurant seems to be quite popular. I was lucky to snag the last seat at the sushi bar. My first observation was related the ambiance — dim, contemporary, upbeat, and trendy — completely different from traditional sushi bars. My second observation was made after a peek at the sushi refrigerator — I found interesting items such as asparagus, green onions, tofu, and salmon with skin intact. Despite these unusual sightings, all the ingredients in the refrigerator were neatly wrapped and extremely clean. The chefs used gloves to assemble nigiri and cleaned their cutting board fairly often. Hygiene was definitely not an issue at RA Sushi. As a result, I felt safe ordering the sashimi dinner and 2pc of suzuki nigiri. I thought that the sashimi plate was the best deal on the menu for $ 19.70. Unfortunately, my meal started off on a sour note. The miso soup did not taste very good. It was ultra salty and there was a collection of granules remaining in the bowl after I finished drinking the soup. Shortly after, the sashimi plate arrived, which included 4 slices each of yellowtail, salmon, striped bass, and tuna sashimi. In the assortment, the yellowtail was the most refreshing with melt in mouth texture, tuna tasted solid with shiso leaf, salmon was the worst since it was fishy and a little spoiled, and striped bass was the most firm fish. The striped bass was somewhat bland, as expected from a white fish, and I didn’t think it paired well with the sriracha and green onions provided. If I had a choice, I would dress this fish with yuzu or ponzu sauce instead. A huge bowl of white rice accompanied the sashimi plate, which I found to be out of place. The rice somewhat resembled Thai sticky rice and was not seasoned, so the only purpose it had to me was to fill up my stomach up on carbs(and to prevent me from ordering more). The service was personable, attentive, and easily the best aspect of my meal. My server Stephanie was cheerful and really aimed to please. I would recommend RA Sushi for a semi-casual company dinner or date where service is important, and also to diners who prefer cooked dishes and flavors strongly biased towards the Japanese-American fusion side.

3.5 stars for their happy hour(Mon-Fri 3 – 7, not sure of the weekend hours). My friend and I stopped in for a small snack right at 3, so it was nice and empty. Service was great and food came out fast. I didn’t drink since I was driving, but their drinks sounded really good! For food, we shared a salmon nigiri, Viva Las Vegas roll, crunchy calamari roll, and pineapple cheese wontons. Nigiri came with generous pieces of salmon, and they were of decent freshness. Viva roll was yummy, of course, since it was fried, and you can’t go wrong with fried ;) I really liked the wontons too– again, they were fried, but didn’t feel heavy or oily. Great dipping sauce too. The calamari roll was my least favorite, and none of the 4 items screamed out at me. I wouldn’t come here during normal hours, just because it would be way too expensive for A-OK sushi. For happy hour, though, not bad!

RA sushi, another place to mark off my list of go to’s for sushi. The vibe is cool here, date like or a good spot to go with friends. Heat lamps can be turned on by request, spent $ 60 here for dinner but was just satisfied, not full. We ordered about 3 lobster rolls and can’t remember which one even– but there wasn’t any lobster on or in one of the rolls, bummer! We had the pineapple cheese wontons for happy hour, they were hot and fresh! Pretty yummy and maybe the best part of the meal. Salmon nigiri is $ 2.88 during happy hour! We got 6 pieces and they were ok. My spicy lobster roll actually wasn’t as spicy :(we sat outside on couches which was comfortable and cozy so that made me give it 2 stars, the other star was the wontons. If I was thinking sushi, I probably wouldn’t come back here. I’d rather spend $ 60 at Mizu at the Tustin Marketplace where presentation and quality is truly top notch and equates to their pricing!
