Steve continues to be an extraordinary general contractor that works with my clients and my design firm. He is a straight shooter, and his work is one of the best in the area. He will approach you with kindness, but straight talk. He and his teams craftsmanship, service and commitment are exceptional. He makes me a better design professional. He helps me value engineer our projects and his collaboration to make a good project is extremely valuable. I find time and time again that the public needs educated on the cost of remodeling services and that not all contractors are created equal. Some just simply give you a bid number so they can start the job knowing it will be more. Some can’t keep a schedule or manage their subcontracting team and weeks or months of delays are unbearable. Steve has hit every agreed upon budget and schedule he has given a client of mine 100% of the time. I can’t say that of 95% of the contractors I know. He doesn’t take on every client that calls or he meets — just like I don’t. If you are a good fit, you are lucky to work with Steve and his team. The value is extraordinary. Our business unfortunately includes a lot of misinformation, ignorance and shady sales tactics to get business. It is a shame, but this man is one of the good guys.

I called in to get a bid on a small living room project. The gentleman that called (Steve, the owner, I believe) was very rude. He repeatedly told me that our project «wasn’t worth his time» and the only way he’d come out to bid our project was if I would pay him per hour to even put together a bid.
I understand that I actually may not be worth his time, but to start a conversation that disengaged and harsh is not impressive. Even if my project was worth his time, I’d take my business where it would be appreciated.

We just purchased an older home with the bubble skylights summer of 2014. During the crazy, windy, rain storm that occurred during 2014 winter the skylights started to show it’s age of wear and tear by leaking. We contacted a contractor that we knew and we decided to order new skylights and get this problem fixed right away. By the end of January we were looking for a new contractor to finish the job.
That’s when we came across T.H.E. Remodel Group. Steve came out to look at the bubbled skylights and the new ones we already had on hand. He told us he was not familiar with the brand of skylights we had but would do his research on them and the flashing kits that was also needed. He did not quote us on the spot like other contractors did, but told us he would get a written quote of materials and labor cost to us within the week.
After receiving the quote we decided to go with T.H.E. Remodel Group. Steve and his team were amazing to work with. They were professional, tidy, had great communication whether it was in-​person or through email. Steve was honest with us through the whole process and finally our minds are at ease.

Steve’s team was great to work with! We had a small project in our house, basically we needed a wall and door put up to create a walk-​in closet. Steve, the owner, personally came multiple times to do the estimates as well as follow up on the work. He was able to complete the project in a very timely manner and costs were reasonable. The new wall and room looks great and blends in seamlessly with the existing structures. His team were polite, courteous, and made every effort to keep my house clean and work contained as they were working. I can’t overstate how wonderful that was. I will definitely use THE Remodel Group again for future projects and recommend them to my friends.

This team is amazing! Not only did they help install our skylight in record time, they fixed the front door from sticking on the way out, without charge :) This is our second project with Steve and his team and we are extremely happy with their work and their care for our home. Thank you!

We had a room (Sun room style) added on to our home during this summer. We are very happy with this addition and enjoying this space with our family and friends.
Steve the owner is very knowledgeable about his work and very efficient with managing the project. His assistant Sasha is also a big help and I was very impressed when she matched our wall color perfectly from a sample in a book!
We were on a time crunch and Steve slipped only very slightly.
Our only disappointment was that the quality of workmanship dipped in the finishing stages, and this could be because Steve couldn’t visit the site in the final stages. But to his credit once he reviewed our check list he fixed all the imperfections to our satisfaction.

We recently completed a kitchen remodel and worked with T.H.E. Remodel Group. I could not be more pleased with the results. The first time we met Steve Klingerman at the Portland Home and Garden Expo a couple years ago, my partner and I knew that they were the right contractors for us. Steve was very receptive to our ideas, as we wanted to take on some of the work ourselves. Steve encouraged us to do so, and mentioned it would also save us some money as well.
It was a over a year before we moved forward with the remodel, but we saved their contact information until we were ready. We scheduled a site visit with Steve, and he listened carefully as we explained what we envisioned for our new kitchen. Sasha Beckwith, the designer, went to work quickly, putting together renderings that accurately depicted what we were looking for. Our priority was to maximize the storage in our tiny kitchen, and Sasha made some excellent suggestions that we incorporated into the final design. She made sure every last detail was in place before any actual work began.
Once we’d demoed the kitchen (with help from friends), work began reconstructing our gutted kitchen. It was so exciting to see each element put into place. Steve kept us updated on a daily basis. He let us know what was on the agenda for the day, and double checked each detail before proceeding. While our project was relatively small, we felt received as much attention as a large scale project.
When our kitchen model was complete, we’d stayed on schedule and within the estimated budget. Steve and Sasha were great to work with, and we’re looking forward to working with them on the next project!

I first hired THE Remodel Group to fix a botched kitchen remodel job by another contractor. I was so impressed with the professionalism and skill level that I hired them again for three more projects. The next project was a remodel on the downstairs of my home. My daylight basement was a sad sight indeed. But, now with fresh wood work, lighting, beautiful flooring, and an updated fireplace, it’s become the place I want to hang out now. I also hired THE Remodel Group to revamp the fireplace on the main floor. This was quite the project because it took a lot of creativity and a mix of several different subcontractors. I ended up with a fabricated steel fireplace mantel, Myrtle wood columns, slate tile and modern gas fireplace. All the elements came together to create an amazing focal point for my living room. It’s very artistic and the amazing part is how they were able to bring my ideas in my head to fruition. It’s quite a masterpiece.
I am looking forward to next week because I am starting a bathroom remodel project, and of course, I have hired none-​other-​than THE Remodel Group.
