Bring your bleach! Called the Health Department when I left! Worst restaurant I’ve ever walked into! Owner accused me of trying to get a free meal due to being served a Coffee with a butter stuck to the bottom, and told me to get the F~#k out of there in front of my 2 yr old when I complained! I’m a licensed plumber who was only making a suggestion to him to increase the water temp in his dishwasher as I was concerned his dishes may not be sanitary!

Sorry, the food was not very good. Hash browns came in a hard square and tasted bad, the pancakes were bland. Toast was hard. Eggs okay though. Staff were very nice. Low prices attracts lots of regulars.

This place was surprisingly delicious and inexpensive. For literally $ 6.50 plus tip my wife and I were stuffed thanks to their daily specials that include the«222» which is $ 3.49 for 2 eggs, 2 bacon or other meat and 2 pancakes(perfect batter). Not to mention, the service was quick and extremely friendly. I’m not up in traverse city too much, but I’d definitely recommend it for a simple, delicious breakfast.

On our way to the mall and happened to spot Sparkys Diner. Stopped in for a quick breakfast. They have several really good breakfast specials for under. $ 4.00. Waitress was very friendly and service was exceptional. Tried French toast, hubby had eggs bacon & toast. Food was all pretty good. Décor is retro, with musical décor. Vinyl records everywhere. Will definitely return.

Midweek at lunchtime, 2 of us. I ordered the sparkys omelette and friend had the special meatloaf sandwich. Jodi our server was fantastic. Casual place trying to be a real diner. All was good until fork hit my omelette. It was like a cup of water was inside it. Very weird. Asked Jodi to come over. She said that wasn’t right, I said switch omelet and I will try the special sandwich. Jodi who was great than became non existent. We waited forever. Then she came by and I asked her to take it to go. She said ok. Still waiting. She gave check, I didn’t ask but there was no discount for anything. Still waiting… Just as I was getting up to leave(paid cash and still left 20% tip, and she brings sandwich out to go. Never An apology, got to desk and the meatloaf sandwich was burned. WTF??! Almost like the guy behind the line was insulted but it was clearly a horrible omelette. Won’t go back.

If you’re looking for a fabulous, filling breakfast, come to Sparky’s. I had the omelette and pancakes. My husband had oatmeal, eggs, and toast. Good food! Good service! We’ll go back!

Sparky’s Diner has undergone a change in both management and quality of food. The original owners have unfortunately separated, and Paul Sparks is no longer part of this business. I noted some months ago that the quality of food preparation had become sub-par, and with the change in ownership Sparky’s is no longer open all day. I was never enthused about their breakfasts and we’re not morning people anyway, so it’s with sadness that I note we will not be returning to this restaurant.

I’ve been here twice in one week. And yes, I’m proud to admit it. Why? I’ve been in town for several days(I grew up here in TC and currently live in Chicago), and really really needed a shake. Went through the drive through and for some reason I ordered a chocolate malt(I’d never had one before. crazy, I know!). Anyway I digress. Malt was delicious(and not just because it was my first one) and service was quick and great. I went back today, ordered another malt(just as delicious) and a chili dog. I’m glad I didn’t intend on eating it in my car — it was HUGE. And yummy. I’m now on a quest to beat Sparky’s malts, and I kinda hope I don’t find a better one!

«Holy Don’s RIPOFF Batman!!» — Cheeseburger L.‘s review of Sparky’s cries, angrily! Alright. Hold on a minute. Let’s all sit down and think about this for just a minute, okay? As I stated in my previous review, the owner’s/people who run Sparky’s worked at Don’s, were former employees, left Don’s with the intention of making a place that was going to serve similar food. They weren’t ripping it off, if anything they were making a new location for Don’s fans to frequent. It’s upsetting to me to read a review that so casually spits in the face of a restaurant that is trying really hard to make a good name for itself. I say again. I enjoyed Sparky’s, and HONESTLY I would go there versus Don’s if I were in the right mood. They both strike my fancy, it just depends on how I’m feeling, you know? So make sure you pop in and form your own opinion. I’m not sure who you’ll «side» with, but at least you’ll be able to have faith in your decision. =)

What a neat place to eat, the burgers are the best in town, the shakes and malts are the best in michigan, and the wait staff are friendly and happy to be around. If you like to travel back to the 60s than Sparkys is the place to be, the prices are reasonable and the place is clean and bright, a real enjoyable place to dine.
