My go-to’s are the half order of french toast or the scrambled eggs and toast(either rye or cinn raisin). Cinnamon raisin is 50c extra, worth it. My dad likes the omelets. Prices are fair, decent service.

I’m torn between giving it 3 or 4 stars– but comparing it to other places I have given four stars, I just can’t give it 4– however it is certainly more like 3.5 and slightly better than average. Went there with my friend– for two on the town(buy one get one free) we initially told our waitress to split the bill until we realized we wanted it all on one bill– I knew his must have been a hassle for her, and she handled it very professionally and with courtesy! They claim their coffee is the best in the area, it is good but I think that’s a little too bold of a claim. We had the mozzarella sticks as an appetizer– they were nothing special but you get what you pay for(3.49) I had the meatloaf dinner special, for 7.49 the amount of food I received was more than adequate. The meatloaf was very good. The potatoes were solid. My coleslaw was nothing special. The peas were bland(unseasoned) and my dinner roll was from GFS. Now was my plate of food worth 7.49? Absolutely– but it was nothing that made me say wow what an amazing plate at a great price. My friend ordered a burger and fries, the fries were above average– and the burger was solid. Again a very solid plate of food but nothing special. I know I know you get what you pay for, and this place does certainly deserve 3.5 stars. Would I return? Yes, I would come back for a casual dinner or breakfast. The service was solid and the food was solid, I just didn’t see anything that got the place to the next level.

My son and I are trying out all the diners in TC to find our new go-to breakfast spot. Our Breakfast at Randy’s was not great. The side of pancakes we ordered to share was tasty enough, but one of them was still raw in the middle. We ordered our skillet breakfast with sausage instead of the ham. The sausage was a low quality link like you would get from GFS and not browned at all. It was just cut up hunks of gray meat. The peppers, onions, and potatoes were not cooked throughly. They were just heated in a pond of butter or oil and put in the serving dish. The cheese was just two American slices thrown on top of the greasy uncooked concoction. The only part of this that was prepared adequately were the eggs. With so many other great choices in TC, I’m sure we will never eat there again. Do yourself a favor and go to Rounds Diner on 8th, or J&S on S. Airport instead. Those are our top two pics so far.

I went into Randys Diner the other day because I saw on facebook that they now have Gluten Free Buns and bread. I ordered a burger and it was AMAZING… the meat was done perfectly and I truly enjoyed the bun. Our server was top notch… our beverages were always full and her personality was great. I will be going back often and highly recommend Randys Diner.

I went to Randy’s diner for brunch, and it was so amazing. It is a seat yourself setting, with both booths and tables to choose from. The seating is a little cramped, but the service and food make up for it– hands down. I ordered their biscuits and gravy, and my friend ordered the French toast. Both were very good! Best biscuits and gravy that I have ever had; the French toast was amazing, would have been better with real maple syrup though! The waitstaff were very personable. I highly recommend, and I will be back again!

Giving it a 5 as the server was AWESOME. The food was 4.5! Get the fish and chips and thank me later. It is the type that even a fish hater would eat! Breakfast all day. Once had fluffy eggs with some killer sausage and fresh bread toast. Cheap eats too! For Traverse City, it’s bistro style, Applebee’s type chains, or this place! Bam!

I’ve been a fan of Randy’s for years now. Don’t get their too often as I live on the other side of town. They’ve got good American food. If you’re looking for a good place to meet the fellas for breakfast meet at Randy’s. No, it’s not gourmet, it’s a diner, and a very good one!

Sat at table for 10 minutes without anyone speaking to us. With a 3 and 1 year old we had to leave. Great smell. No service to speak of. NOTKIDFRIENDLY

The owner contacted me wanting to make my experience right. We had a talk, and he assured me that there had been done changes since my last visit, so I decided I would give it another chance. I mean it’s popular for a reason, right? Our return trip was far and away better! The fryer wasn’t down, the service was excellent, and the food was really good. I had a burger(can’t remember which one) that was worth coming back for. Even my husband left happy. I think this place is a gem because the owner truly cares.

Perfectly friendly, fast, delicious breakfast! We had the homemade beef noodle soup, eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, toast… the hash browns were a tad underdone, but I thought everything else was fine! I’d be happy to come back.

We decided to have breakfast here at the recommendation of a family member. The place was very busy with almost no open tables so we had high hopes. The coffee was good and my wife and I ordered two types of omelette’s with potatoes & toast. The potatoes were undercooked, and our omelette’s were both overdone(brown vs. light yellow). Toast was perfect. If I were to grade the food using a school grading system — our food would be a D+ to a C-. Not the worst food, but TC has much better breakfast places.

My husband and I went in for dinner Thursday evening for burgers and now wished we would have gone to Burger King! The burgers were blah and the place could sure some Mr. Clean! As we went to pay, we had to ask for our bill but also noticed a tub full of dirty dishes next to the counter while the employees were standing around talking… big turn off! I came home and washed my hands after handling their condiments that were dirty… Won’t go back there again !

Got a carryout lunch order on a Saturday. Chili, BLT, fried walleye basket. I had the chili and BLT, my coworker the walleye. The chili was very mild, but meaty and hearty. The BLT was fun, about as much bacon as you could fit between two slices of white bread toast. Huge. Nothing gourmet, but you’re not going to be hungry! The walleye was the star of the meal and I was definitely«out ordered» ½ walleye filet battered and fried. Excellent. If you’re looking for classic diner fare, this is definitely your place.

was dying for a sandwich after so many pizza’s/pasta on this trip. took an hour to find and decide on a place. wanted to avoid front st. and this place fit the bill. outside looks more impressive than in side but don’t let the worn, tired interior detour you from eating here. If diner food your desire, randy’s is a great choice. i ordered the classic grilled cheese, an order of fries and coleslaw($ 6.38) — all separate items on the menu. and it was exactly what you would expect from a diner. white bread thick with a proper amount of cheese, fries extra good-think they had a batter coating, and a great coleslaw. CLASSICTASTES! and generous servings i could share with hubby. he got the Reuben sandwich served on rye with standard potato chips. but it was good and traditional. all was so good, above what we expected, mine the best i’ve had in a number of years. we would return and recommend randy’s to anyone looking for diner food.

I believe they have changed ownership over the last 3 years. I was very impressed with the quality and service. The first time I ordered an omlette ham and cheeze– it was excellent. That was during lunch-they let U order braeakfast anytime-which is cool! Came with toast and h-browns. I asked to substitute bacon for the browns and my wish was granted– great service. Second visit I had the Gyro– again scrump dile ish ous. I would have liked a little more feta but the sauce is supreme. Came with chips and a pickle.

We had breakfast here a couple of days ago and this place was nothing special, at least for breakfast. I ordered a three egg omelet with American fries and sausage, and my wife had eggs over medium with American fries and toast. The place was not to busy, however the waitress were zooming around but not getting much done. The couple behind us at the next table never had their coffee refilled while others had multiple refills. We waited for what seemed like a very long time to receive our orders, however this doesn’t bother us much if the food is good. but when the food is so so then its troublesome. The toast was very dry as I expect it was warmed up and the eggs were stone cold on my wife’s plate. She sent it back and to the credit of the waitress she brought out a new order that was fresh and hot within a couple of minutes. All in all we wouldn’t go back as there has to be better mom and pop restaurants in Traverse City.

Let me tell you, I’m a big fan of diners. I don’t know what it is, but there’s something homey about being in a family owned restaurant that only has a few servers running around. This is one of those joints. But the amazing thing is they have things like gyros and Greek salads, as well as a multitude of other great menu choices. Right down to the freshly baked pies. This is a great choice if you’re looking for a relaxing bite to eat. And the best part is– they deliver. =D
